  1. ^^^What he said^^^ There has been some discussion on another forum I belong to. Sapphire crystals are not the big deal the high end watch companies would like you to believe, it's actually quite cheap and readily available and also a lot is made in China. As my French brother said, this isn't the greatest replica ever, but it is also a long way from the bottom of the pile quality wise.
  2. I just heard this on my news feed. No comment at the moment other than RIP those innocent people killed and condolences to my American brothers here. I sincerely hope none of ours was personally affected by these tragic events
  3. Everyone on here https://rwg.cc/forum/230-watches-clothing-parts-accessories/
  4. I think they are the same as well, but not sure, so I sent Ken a PM
  5. Well done M, I've just signed up. I was a member on the old forum, but you won't see me posting because of the language I just lurk and read the odd post?
  6. PM me a website. I have a feeling it is the same company.
  7. Yes he joined our Trusted Dealers a few months ago, but I have bought from him quite a few times as have other guys. Sometimes, especially for parts one has to get them where one can. Only once did I have a problem ordering from Ken/Rafflestime. He shipped the wrong part and when I informed him and asked him what he would like me to do, he told me to keep the wrong part and sent me the correct part free of charge. Try www.yukiwatch.net, it worked for me just now. Yuki is not a TD here, but many of us have bought parts from them.
  8. I finally managed to separate the watch from my daughter and take it out and about. First trip was training where it received some good natured banter, not? Follwed by the village "family fun day". Okay, so it's more Barbour and wellies than black tie, but it's about as formal as things get around here. The response was somewhat warmer than I expected. My mate who was cooking the burgers actually thought it was nice!!!! Other local "friend" said I didn't look any more of a tw@t than usual. Some friend. He's now off the Christmas card list, even if he was right in what he said. One of the mothers gave me a kiss and said how much she admired a man brave enough to wear pink, which was nice. Anyway it's on it's travels again early next week
  9. Classic rock and Scandinavian metal brought together by a guy who is crazier than a box of frogs. Oh yes I'm having some of that
  10. Hello and welcome to our community, some of us you will already know from RWI You've been here two years on the quiet I see?
  11. Oops, stand well back and throw chocolate
  12. Yep, I'm qualified to a whole 40 metres 130 feet and a lot of the modern dive watches would only be useful for working out how long I've been dead
  13. We have a surprising amount in common. The thing is I have a feeling even the genuine will look like a replica or a child's seaside watch
  14. Just make sure you are sitting down and in a private place when you do. I was in fits of laughter, this thing is hideous. Also it is virtually impossible to tell what time it is because the dial is busy and dark, as are the hands. My six year old daughter thinks it is wonderful and wore it while watching Barbie - tells you all you need to know really
  15. I think there are seasonal fluctuations. Around Christmas is never a good time for spending money on a hobby and as @panerai153 says now isn't a good time. I think there are also longer term fluctuations due to the economy. At the present most people in the western world are finding money tight. Then there are other fluctuations. The Quartz crisis was a big one and we now have the digital crisis, if you will. The old timers are getting old and either have all the watches they need or don't have the same drive and enthusiasm, this is the normal way of life, but younger watch enthusiasts are not coming in numbers because currently wristwatches in general are being seen by many as irrelevant anachronistic technology from times past, but are not so obsolete they have the romantic appeal of times gone by. So much doom and gloom, but there is reason to be optimistic. Vinyl died and was reborn sometime later, stronger than ever. People collect and appreciate just about everything that is no longer an everyday item. Watches will always have a following and once they are no longer an everyday item, their status may even go up. Sit tight lads, keep doing what we do. As long as we endure the storm, we will eventually get to bask in the sunshine. When did you last see someone wearing a pocket watch or relying on a long case clock for timekeeping, but both are still avidly collected and cherished, and not only by me?
  16. Well after a few sleepless nights for MOAB and me, our precious watch has safely arrived in Ireland to begin it's European tour.
  17. That is great news. I've said it before but 100 metres is more than enough. It can cope with snorkelling and generally hanging out in the water. I know water resistance doesn't directly convert to depth, but if you are a 100 metres down, you have much bigger problems that water in your watch
  18. Indeed, as mein Deutsche bruder says, a warm welcome to our community. What we lack in size, I think we more than make up for in friendliness and knowledge. I'm also a member of all the English language fora. Enjoy your time with us
  19. You do know that the R factory don't have any Trusted Dealers here don't you? ??? The bezel falls off or the movement goes bang and you're on your own. Mods ain't getting involved Seriously though, nice, enjoy
  20. I don't think the hands look excessively aged, they are meant to look over sixty years old. I think they look rather good, as does the rest of the build.
