  1. When SATA first came out, one could buy a simple plug in adaptor which connected SATA to IDE motherboards, but performance dropped from SATA to IDE levels obviously. Found this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SATA-TO-PATA-IDE-Converter-Adapter-Plug-Play-7-15-Pin-3-5-2-5-SATA-HDD-DVD-BF-BF/352156960446?_trkparms=aid%3D555019%26algo%3DPL.BANDIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20151005190705%26meid%3D4ee35429f2f2496a9ca79aa40370903f%26pid%3D100506%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26&_trksid=p2045573.c100506.m3226 it's a very long time since I played with PC computers, but I am sure one lost all the advantages of SATA
  2. Not easy. None of those models are exactly well catered for. @jmbdoes a 1016 for ETA2824 that is a popular choice. Best bet for a 6542 is a 1675 and remove the crown guards. Another option is an Explorer II case, but you need a new bezel. To be brutally honest, you are not going to find very accurate cases for those models at that price point
  3. How big is your budget and how accurate do you want them? www.jewelryandwatch.com www.yukiwatch.net www.rafflestime.com www.helenarou.com
  4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/38mm-new-high-quality-white-marks-black-ceramic-bezel-for-40mm-mens-watch-27/322458563032?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  5. That model isn't a copy of the Tempus Machina, Project X is a separate company entirely. I have seen a few ceramic bezels with really nice red triangles on the net, if one carefully measured it might well be possible to find a really good replacement for that too. I haven't had time to do the research yet though.
  6. Welcome to the forum. I suggest you do some reading in the Rolex sub section so you have realistic expectations of a Sub rep, 1:1 is a myth, the Noob is very good, but no replica has ever been 1:1 Any Trusted Dealer can get you a Noob. https://rwg.cc/forum/230-watches-clothing-parts-accessories/
  7. Beautiful. I've been umming and arring about one of these for quite a while. 15% off this weekend as well. Hmm....
  8. Now that is a film I haven't seen mention of in many a year. I saw it sometime towards the latter end f the 70's and I saw the remake called "I am Legend" which wasn't great imo Anyway back to OP, quality gilt dials and Vietnamese are usually synonymous. There are a few sellers on EBay, their IDs change, but it seems the dials are manufactured in the same place. A standard ad mentions "quality Swiss ink", whatever the hell that is. The originals were galvanised, not printed. I have the contact details for a Vietnamese lady who sells dials and I understand @rolojack and @hologramet have a contact, maybe the same lady. If there isn't anything currently on eBay, shoot me a PM and I'll send you an email address to contact
  9. I'd love to hear what you think of it when it arrives.
  10. @nycrounders I love that beautiful fat lume and textured dial. Is that a recreation of an actual watch or to some extent a fantasy?
  11. SH3135 is pretty much a clone, SA3135 is not a clone, just dimensionally the same. I understand they improved the winder shaft and reliability has improved, but that there are still no replacement parts available. Reports are that many are finding the latest give service without issue, especially after a clean and oil service, but if it breaks, it's scrap. The good news is the SH/Yuki or even a gen movement slots right in it's place
  12. Yes and you can't convince me that the case, datewheel, bezel insert and bracelet aren't from the rep factories. As for the "Swiss Design", yes because we stole it from a Swiss company??? I'd love to know if it is a quality watch in the sense of manufacturing tolerances and waterproofing. I think most of the metal is standard rep parts and Miyota movements while being reliable workhorses are hardly a sign of a quality watch. A Sub rep with Miyota is what $150? That is one expensive dial you are replacing.
  13. It is hard to keep track of the growing number of boutique companies that customise Rolex watches. My view is that apart from the gorgeous products from Tempus Machina, they all offer pretty much interchangeable PVD coating or hideous monstrosities of technicolor for those with deep pockets and no taste. One that I was vaguely aware of, Blackout Concept, has seemingly done something rather interesting. Want one of their products and don't want to harm a perfectly good Rolex, or maybe can't afford said Rolex? Well now they offer watches that look "cough" a little similar to Rolex models. For the price of a Noob V7 you can now buy a Canal Street fake with Miyota movement and Blackout's own custom dial. http://www.blackoutconcept.com/en/product/25946/ What an absolute bargain
  14. I can't see any reason why you won't get a go M. We are still finalising the hand over process, but if you don't make the grade, I doubt the watch will go anywhere?
  15. Welcome, I think some of our TDs can help with no watch rep goods
  16. Have you tried the $1 sticky ball from eBay or that Toro sends out? It's never failed me, lots of downward force and if it doesn't move tighten it a bit and try again. Not the poshest of tools, but very effective
  17. Thank you for a very thorough thread. It's a beautiful project for sure, enjoy her.
  18. Welcome to our community, I hope you enjoy your time with us
  19. Anyone know where I can get a rep of this bad boy?
  20. Post a build thread on that project please, it's a beauty
  21. Oh that's it I'm all done with Gaytonas. That bad boy is for me, I need something that has wrist presence to go with my new tea service
  22. Look at the quality of Mods we have here. They are told it is 45mm and they guess 40mm and 42mm!!!
  23. Last night my Personal Trainer took some fresh pictures so he can track my progress and identify any weak areas. This one explains a lot, I don't often see my own back, but I was kind of wondering why none of my clothes fit anymore Not too shabby for a 54 year old
