Congrats to all of you guys. To those who are new to RWG, a top notch team was involved in putting this together so you can take their observations and opinions to the bank! My only critique is (and for others posting pics)...when you place pics side-by-side, resize the images so the total size (wxh) doesn't exceed the 800x600 "moderate" screen dimension. I want to see those pics in their full glory, and depending on the computer I'm on I have to scroll to read the text due to the combined width of 2 images. Other than that...who better to take macro pics than Lani the Raffle Macro Meister...who better to give Breitling insight than Andreww...and DBR and Dave123 we all know your expertise as well. Awesome collaboration guys.

OK folks...before this turns into the biggest flame war in history...let's all stop taking personal attacks on each other. If you don't like the person...walk away and don't read it. If you don't like the topic...respond...but contribute to the TOPIC. Anyways...back to being on track... The road regulations are put in place for a reason...and generally not as an arbitrary assignment to inconvenience anybody. The fact of the matter is, going above speed does in fact endanger other people. Going twice above speed almost guarantees that if you do get in an accident, odds are good it's going to be a big one. The odds of getting in an accident are generally pretty low if you practice your due diligence...but add in the factor of speed and the end result of an accident exponentially gets worse. The sad thing is, you are endangering other people for the thrill of going above speed to a point where you're really not going that fast. 90mph? You know it's not a big deal. You can drive twice that legally in half the countries in Europe. If you really enjoy your cars and want to drive them...then DRIVE them. If you just want to go fast in a straight line, what are you doing with a Cooper S or a Porsche?...get a Corvette or a Mustang. Do like my friends do...get together...book some track time...and DRIVE THE HECK OUT OF THOSE SUCKERS. There's nothing more satisfying to the boy toy needs than blowing through some fresh racing rubber in a single session on a track. Short Track Series are great too...check out Porsche Owners Club for events if you don't want to contract out track time privately. Anybody who has done this generally realizes, the thrill of speeding in the city is really kids stuff compared to REALLY opening up your car. Choose your track, and you might well find you have more of a driving adrenaline rush going no more than 80-100kph through a series of chicanes or obstacle sections than you could ever thought possible. The first couple times I had sessions on a short performance handling course in a Cooper S were crazy...I couldn't keep my eyes off the course because of the need to constantly read the line...my heart was racing...my co-pilot said I was averaging 60kph...and peaked at 80kph...tires squealing for 50% of the time! That's real fun.

Did you have to scrape the old lume out of the hands before reluming? What tool did you use to scrape, and what tool did you use to relume? Looks good!

I had one lose lots of time and it was a loose hand but it wasn't apparent at first as the hand set fine was stable when moved...but certain types/directions/force of movement the hand spun around. The hands were reset and all has been well and it hasn't happened in the past month or so. This was the first time it had ever happened to The Zigmeister and likely was due to getting bumped hard in the post in spite of decent packing.

Start reading the reviews and you'll find out what people have or have not put up with or dealt with themselves. e.g. dust on the dial. If you are [censored] off by this...send it back for $20, wait 2 months to get a new watch...or deal with it and fix it yourself and always have the watch on hand while having learned a few skills (and possibly wrecked your watch in the process) There are lots of threads around with people wondering what to do about certain flaws...fix it themselves or send it back. Unfortunately as one Noob member put it, collectors here provide pretty reasonable service given that it is an illegal industry, however, they don't bend over backwards to win you as a client on your first few purchases. After you have dealt with them for awhile, you may get things from like parts being sent to replace faulty ones (but no payment for labour) for no charge...but you have to have a positive relationship with the collector first. E.g. Broken clasp doesn't close - get a replacement or return it depending on what the collector will do for you Dust on dials - deal with it and fix it yourself Hands aren't at 12-o-clock on date rollover - Deal with it or fix it yourself Datewheel doesn't change at all - return it for service Wrong watch - return it for replacement (return shipping at your cost unfortunately) Again...some flaws are notorious (e.g. crooked markers on an IWC 3717-01, wrong feet on the Omega logo of UPOs, spelling errors on Chopards, etc) and you have to deal with them. What to do depends on what you determine as routine vs. exceptional based on your research on reviews and posts here, and your willingness to try and tackle things on your own, and your willingness to be without a watch for 2 months.

Aaaah young Grasshopper...until you have your first good rep in your hands, you will not know that the time that is right is NOW!!!! I used to think in the early days that maybe I should wait for the improved version, but sometimes this happens, and sometimes it doesn't. Today's reps are probably 30% or more MORE than they were a couple years ago...but they are HEAPS improved in terms of construction...but now dodgier in terms of ensuring quality movements. Some reps stop getting made and become pseudo-collector items (as much as that can be in this underground industry...e.g. Ti Breitling Chrono Avenger). Some reps get "improved" but are in fact worse (e.g. 3717-01/03 where the 3-6-9 markers are too fat and the lume applied to the wrong spots). Some reps actually get improved but at a price point that may not agree with you (e.g. Skyland Blacksteel early versions in PVD were somewhere around $260, but the new ones with improved dial and proper blackening are well over $400) so the improvement becomes irrelevant for you. So...if something is meeting your fancy now, read about the flaws in the reviews or posts on the item, do your own research and find out what you can/cannot tolerate, and buy it, as it may not be there in a few months.

The next choice would be to go custom. You can look up HKTan in the links, or V, or a number of other strap makers on the board and they can probably do you up what you need, if it doesn't exist as a regular stock item. Timeframe to wait can be 1-3 months...price probably >$100.

Yes and no. Some straps are deployment compatible even if they are for tangs. All you have to do is remove the buckle with a springbar tool...or in the worst case, you have to cut off the buckle with a jeweller's file, dremel, etc and install the deployment. The issue is strap thickness. Some deployments are not so forgiving for strap thickness and many of the straps might be too thick to feed through. If it's too thick...it's not going to work. As to vendor discounts for taking off the buckle...depends on the vendor and the buckle. Pure Time does around $10 without a tang...and + $20 to swap in a deployment. To order a branded rep deployment will be about $55 with shipping ($15-20 for shipping on top of $30-40 for the deployment).

As far as I know...nothing like this really exists. Along with a secs@6 chrono, it's one of the Holy Grail movements. You can get GMT modified 2836 copies for around $100 from Peter or Jay (Watchstation or Silix) but that's incorrect handstack so GMT operation is not correct and it looks wrong if you know your handstacks and care! The correct hand stack movements (CHS) are notoriously flaky. Some have had them last for years...others for days. They are also hard to obtain. The Zigmeister won't work on GMT modified movements...let that be a thing to ponder!!

Welcome...read my Noob Guide pinned in the Intros section and you'll hit the ground running. It will list which collectors we recommend here and more. Search is your friend, as this watch has had many threads posted on it, which will give you all the info you need. Read, search, learn, share! That's what it's all about.

Do a search on the Link. Lordrasta among others have posted pics of them, and I'm sure there is a review of it. Compare yours with that in the review to determine if yours are particularly bad...or something that is common with the rep. Some reps like IWC repeaters, a few Chopards, etc have much more glaring flaws like spelling errors on the dial, movements, crown, etc. Other reps have more subtle flaws like rehaut size, crown shape, lume filling errors, etc. All will have flaws that can be spotted a mile away to a true WIS. The question of whether or not to return it or ask for a fix is to determine if your flaws are exceptionally bad (e.g. 8 hr power reserve, slipped datewheel, missing hands, crooked printing, really crooked lume, etc)...and for that you'll find some great pics of the Link reps on this site.
