Well, Seagull is a best clone I hear. My FC diver V3 has a standard 2824 piece of crap that of course is already dead. So I got a brand new Seagull 2824. You can get them sealed, factory direct for $90, which is what I did. I read claims that they are even better then Swiss 2824 and some guys had them regulated to as low as +1.5/sec a day which is insane. SS models come also with Swiss SW200-1 which is great. But they did not make it to CF models. I'm also going to have Seagull installed into JLC Navy Seal Diver as a replacement for the standard one.

Welcome OC neighbor. First of all, definitely avoid any places outside of RWG forums, period. High end reps don't make it to the street and 99% of websites are scam. You will learn a lot here and you will see that there are few replicas that can make buying its Gen counterpart complete nonsense. That said, both Replicas and Gen's have their place.

ML is a brand that's looses value a lot. So just be careful what you pay for it.

If you are a watch nut who loves designs of certain very expensive models and is willing to put extra money to have them modded to be more reliable then yes. If you are a guy who just want one great looking watch who does not care about very specific out of reach luxury model then - no! A friend of mine loves my reps but he is not a watch nut, he just wants a nice kick ass watch. In the end I advised him on a gen within his budget. That said, there definitely are few reps that I believe can stand in for a gen really well, making a gen not worth getting.

If you want a good deal on a Gen watch and don't mind getting gently pre-owned one. Look into http://rolexforums.com/ Non-Rolex for sale classifieds section. There are few well respected dealers there and sometimes they have really nice deals. You just have to spend some time hunting around. Even if you want buy a new one, I'd still rather get it from one of the top guys there, as they often have brand new pieces for sale as well.

Longines Legend Diver is cool too. Makes me think of the much pricier JLC that Like a lot. I think Longines is $1600 or so

Not watches, but when I was collecting vintage synthesizers (producing music as well) I got some insane deals on eBay. In some cases values going up from $500 to $4000 by the time I started selling them off.

I got this V3 with Swiss SW200-1 last week at a really great price. Picked up Genuine XS strap today. Wore it today for the first time. Really like it a lot.

Legend you are soooo right. In the world outside of the forums I have never seen anyone question authenticity of the watch. All diver versions have flaws, V6 needs to have flaws that previous V-whatever did not have so there can be V6.1 and V7. It's part of the rep game. And if we did not play that game, then we would never see new versions. We, the members of forums created that versioning market monster by starting to pick on reps back in early 2005. It started with mods and then later it all lead to V1, V2...., which is great cause 9 years later we have some amazing reps.

Those reps have come a long way since then, I got my first 111 in March 2005 from Edie Lee, modded with nice CG and Crown, I still have it, don't wear it anymore since it's not that accurate but still a cool piece of rep history. The same year I got Gen 111 for $2700 + some change on my trip to Italy, haha... can you believe it? Sold it for way, way, way... more then that. Like your strap a lot, I was thinking of having a new custom sized Donerix Grey Canvas strap made as well. Right now my favorite "out of the box" rep is definitely 390, super accurate and serviced keeps better time then the Gen 111 did. But I have an ultimate custom built 5218/202a PVD Grail which has all the best custom made parts, PVD done by the same place Panerai used in the 90's, Swiss sealed movement that came straight from ETA that won't loose or gain time even after a full week, for me this is a priceless piece since Gen's are now upwards $100K, i would not trade that for even a Gen 111. Ha.... Reps are cool.

Stripped tube. It cannot be fixed. You would need new tube and crown. I was never able to get it fixed. This problem really applies to all reps, but some will last for many years, Radiomirs were the worst case scenario. I still have one lying around that dates back to 2006. It has a great Swiss 6497 movement which I should use for something else.

I have been servicing my rep watches with The Zigmeister since 2005 and I would love to get some new recommendations. US preferred, Canada is good as well. Thanks a lot in advance!
