I was`nt thinking about accessing the watches straight from the factory, simply the incredible process necessary to get them to the market. but agree with the presumption of fly-by-night dealers setting up,and unscrupulous entrepreneurs . The same discussion could be had about the illegal ivory trade. Yes, there is a world wide ban on the sale of ivory, but elephants are still being slaughtered for their ivory, and ivory is still being traded on the black market. "Some things are best left alone" ? Not in the ivory trade they aren`t.

This is a very interesting analogy.

Then we would know the FULL story, and appreciate more.

I suppose its like knowing all the facts in the food chain, especially with the animals we eat, Then , I think it`s better not to know too much. ( I don`t want to turn vegetarian ).

Ahh! so I see.

Possibly for assembly, but large cnc milling machines, various lathes, power presses, guillotines, etc. in homes, other small buildings? This is on a large ( think BIG ) scale. Even if the actual manufacture was centralised then parts distributed to smaller assembly points, this would have to be on a massive scale. Co-ordination, quality assessment etc.

Yes, a true spectacle.

We all know that the watch wholesalers get their watches from the factories. How is this achieved, there are literally thousands of sellers, of different brands and quality. How many factories ? 5, 6 , ........12 ? Could the factories have wholesale wharehouses set up ? Do the dealers simply go to a factory shop? ( factory outlet ). Could there be dozens of rep. representatives hawking the different models around? Whichever way it is done, has to be on quite a big scale. Any ideas ?

QUOTE (Pugwash @ Mar 2 2008, 04:42 PM) I made an educated guess. You'll not convince me I'm wrong on this one. I don't think anyone can convince you you're wrong of anything, Puggy. QUOTE ps. Where did I state he was from the US? You're inferring and then accusing me of assuming. Bad move "Assuming I'm American will never get you anywhere." It comes from observing you. I know that you'd never be outraged that a Brazilian or Bahamian were presuming you were an American; an American doing so especially elicits this reaction from you. BTW, I found 15 Euros on the floor the other day. I think I'll go buy a yachtie! Ciao, Pugwash. A little off the subject? Maybe these 2 should simply agree to dis-agree, and not continue to sling off at each other.

People come in all shapes and forms. Some nice, some rude , some completely obnoxious. I have tried to give to (whatever ) on this forum a polite and decent answer, to pm`s rude or otherwise.( for I know better ) I have tried to think that, for some of these people English is not their first language, grammar, spelling, etc., so , if I could write and speak in their native tongue, then I would be a far richer person. There is a limit, I agree, but I tend to make the exception , in that , on this forum we tend to try and help each other. That is what I have seen first hand. I still try and read between the lines, to see what the person is trying to say,and where they are coming from. unfortnately rudeness , does not go down very well anywhere in the world.

A Rock watch. ( Swatch watch ) on a plastic strap. (seriously). The whole case is made from ( if I can remember), volcanic rock, shaped and polished, ( think lapidiary) A different alternative for someone with severe allergies.

This is one watch I am going to buy. Usil, had sourced the woven mesh bracelet about 10 days ago, think it was from lonestar.com ? It was fairly exy, at $150. If anyone comes accross anything similar, am sure that more than a few members would appreciate. I have had no luck so far.

Yes , I remember, Rocket and Spookycord tried very hard to get this off the ground, with a lot of effort put in, unfortunately it was pulled by the maker. It shows what effort can do, if and when it is taken to the ultimate. This was a real pity for everyone wanting a perfect Santos 100 dial.
-
That`s the best dial on a Santos 100 that I have seen.

Man. I`ve learnt some words I never knew existed here. Glad to see that a religious topic ended up friendly.

Why handwinding an Automatic movement is bad.

So , i`ts set in stone for me, another convert. Thanks for the info. and the time to share. -
Gen. or New Dial Release allready ? Breitling Superocean Heritage.
rodwc replied to rodwc's topic in The Breitling Area
Thanks for that TeeJay. My main and only point was mis-representation. The sellers qualifications and interests are not my business or concern, But to show something which does not represent what one is trying to sell is in my opinion, wrong. I accept that this goes on most places, I am simply bringing to the fore, for buyers to beware. You seem to know Tony , fairly well, and are most probably correct in your evaluation of his business character. I ,in no way wish to slander anyone. Simply, "what can`t speak, can not lie ." -
I don`t think for a second, the fact that it is illegal has anything to do with it. This is China, and in many ways they are a law unto themselves, this is all to do with making money. ( A communist country with capitalist ideas.) How sick and ironic is that ?
-
Yes, but are they aware of the Western way of thinking? If there were say 3 upgraded models, I for one would`nt even buy the first model with glaring faults, especially in the price range some of these reps. are in now. So they loose potential sales markets before they begin. I agree in general with what you are saying though.
-
I was under the impression that Ebay hasn`t supported Western Union or cash transfers for 6-12 months now. Is it now , they are coming clean and actually saying so, and banning it ?
-
This is sad but true. I for one , simply can`t help feeling and thinking that if the factories are so good at these reps. ( and they are ) Why in heavens sake can`t they put out a 100% perfect, in every way, rep? I am certain that it has nothing to do with the gen. manufacturers copyright, and them saying that they are not allowed to produce the perfect rep. With a bit of communication between the rep. forums and themselves , this could easily be attained. Poor font spacing, little tell tale givaways etc. would and could be a thing of the past. Also , the main thing, they would SELL more watches.

Looking at the link, it appears to me that I need to live in U.K. or Eire to be able to get to it . ( no good for Oz. )
-
These were posted in another thread, so, just to tidy up.

Does`nt that also go for virtually every rep. we can get ? Hav`nt come accross the "perfect rep. " yet, have you?
