  1. The pro. strap guys at RG have all the info on strap making, and tried it for myself. I wanted something a little "toned down " from stitching for this one. Have been practising with straps and stitching, and it seems that there is allways one stitch that does`nt line up, anyway more practice is needed. I tried something different on the strap instead of stitching, its an alternative and something you may have tried before ? (Branding, is what I call it ). Got some antique desk top leather from a friend and made up a strap am pleased with the color and final result , it was for a Breit Chrono with a deployant. Comments would be appreciated and also many thanks to all the strap makers here for their pics and posts on how to go about the whole thing. I found more pleasure in actual making than the finished result. Unfortunately you only get 1 go at the branding, and if it isn`t in the right position, its back to the drawing board. Thanks to all once again.
  2. Well now that you mention it, and without any fear , I have never ever understood just WHAT any person, shape form or belief, can see in Panerai, the real thing or otherwise. They do absolutely nothing for me. Also fully agree with the thoughts on diamonds, simply don`t like, aspire to them, wan`t them in any shape or form. Something with an artificial inflated price kept high on the worlds market by an old school company De-Beers. People berate rep watches , I berate and loathe diamonds. ( and Panerai ).
  3. I fully agree,..........but............ wouldn`t you rather say you had a Swiss eta 7750 in your BCE ? Am certain the majority would say YES. ( forget the price difference , but if you can afford it ........).
  4. Movement from ajoesmith,( watch with Swiss eta7750 from Andrew will cost $1088 ) There are many other places on the net, but why bother when we have a tried and trusted member here on RWG, besides also having the best price. If you do go down that path changing over to a swiss eta 7750, these are the differences in hand sizes, Genuine ETA 7750 all variants (all) Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm Center Seconds 0.25mm Subdials 0.17mm New Asian 7750 (28,800 BPH) Normal ones - NOT the Daytona model Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm Center Seconds 0.20mm Subdial 0.20mm Not much difference
  5. If I were to open the watch, what would I see? A movement .........Swiss or Asian......... the other differences are too huge to mention here.(mainly quality ). Swarf and pubic hair have also been found by members, ( bit of a lucky dip for the "extras ") Are New Asias considered the same as Copy-ETA? Basically ... yes. Also, any idea on the Ultimate 1:1 compared to the other ones? I notice theres like a 10-20 dollar difference. I think that there is only 1 version now available....... "ultimate " BCE. (edit, 1st version available $278) But why would anyone buy an earlier version when the latest Ver 2 is out ). For a better price try the other dealers , say Ruby.......... $249 for ultimate BCE A7750.
  6. Have a look at Andrews site http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...b92eaa09e50477e The main difference between New Asia Valjoux 7750 and the swiss eta 7750 version , is the PRICE. A7750 = $308 Swiss ETA $1088 plus shipping. Or you could buy the A7750 ,( watch ), buy a Swiss eta 7750 movement from ajoesmith and swap them out. A7750= $308 plus swiss eta 7750= $450............ $758 and save yourself $300+.
  7. Think most of all this comes down to knowledge/price and just what do you want to use it for and how long you want it to last. For simple downloading, burning and viewing of plain ordinary divx/dvd the cheap players will do the job, with pretty good viewing pic quality Down the track when all the different formats are sorted and standardised you can go upmarket and get a recorder (inbuilt hard drive, inbuilt HD tuner etc ) without anymore set top boxes. It really is personal choice, and lets face it this stuff is changing more than rep watches.
  8. Don`t know if you have the German supermarket chain Aldi in your parts, but they have DVD players that will play Divx and normal Dvd`s, A$ 35 ( thats right ) as you say Dvd blanks are cheap enough, and who cares if the player only lasts 12 months.
  9. The T/T is gen. shown next to the BCE rep. Please take it from me this is a very classy watch allround, and has been improved enormously on finish over the past 4 months or so. Even the stampings for the logo are deeper and much improved.
  10. Wasn`t sure about price/quality/originality etc. you guys know more than I. Hope it can be of benefit to you. Please let us know if this was a goer or not.
  11. ETA 2824-2/2836-2 Original Genuine Swiss movement http://cgi.ebay.com/ETA-2824-2-2836-2-Orig...1QQcmdZViewItem Buy it Now $99
  12. Ah, the old ruber glove trick..................................paaaaarty time.
  13. Will start by saying , thanks for giving your side of the story. ( bwhitesox) This is after all a service, Lello has given to a large number of members, I am sure that he doesn`t NEED to do this . He does it as a service and help to the members here, and I feel ,......from what he has said in his post, that there are too many hassles from the so called gods above . He was willing to work with these (this ) person and was seeking advice to possibly rectify any problems that were arising. I would like to say to Lello, that your services for these datewheels will be very sadly missed , should you not continue. I for one would like to give him more confidence to continue.
  14. These are some of the things and happenings that members don`t see. ( That pedestal will topple one day.) Thanks Lello for your efforts and contributions for these datewheels, at least you TRIED and most members are happy, remember , no-one can please everyone.

You can find him over at RG (Repgeeks ). for a few comments and photographs.
  16. I simply will NOT do it, ( with antique clocks ) You can be 100% certain that the watch or clock will come back and bite you on the bum. Not worth the hassle.
  17. What`s a walkman ipod ? Sorry guys, don`t have one, I don`t want one, and more to the point don`t need one.
  18. It`s in the BIG APPLE. But then as he is in the UK. , it could mean he is going to London/Manchester/Birmingham etc.......any big city. ( It`s a saying , usually made by people "living in the sticks" [country side /village], when they venture in to a bigger world, hence the saying the big smoke ( industrial/bustling with people and industry ).
  19. @Euro-Timez. Also posted in movement Q&A. Many thanks for your upfront honesty, and believe me when I say that there was nothing personal. Too many people have put forward their opinions in the past, to the degree that this has all become confusing to many. At least you are the first person so far to give any hard fact and evidence , as to where the differences between ETA and Copy, movements lie. My whole point of contention lies in getting what I pay for, if that be a genuine ETA , that is what I want and expect. If I pay for a copy ETA, fine I expect a copy and accept that it is a clone/copy ETA. I side with NO particular dealer......NO ONE ..... It would be nice to expect every dealer to be up front and honest, ( As you are ), but this is obviously not the case, buyer beware ! Good luck Chris and many thanks again.

  21. There has been quite a few recently, whom we have got attached to, but no-one seems to let the diehards know. A few have been seen over at RG, for a while then come back here , only to dissappear forever.
  22. @ Jon Fort. All in all, ......... yes. I still place more faith in human beings than I should, for my own good. So I think we have found some common ground here.
  23. In all honesty, I never pass off a rep for a gen. I dont have to because I could afford gens. ( not being trite or smart, just a fact ) Also I still admire the incredible workmanship and appearance of reps. Everyone I know , also knows that I collect and have an interest in rep watches. So all in all , I am still enjoying this hobby. End of case for me.
