  1. Good quality tools certainly are not cheap. That`s why I sincerly hope you are using some of this stuff, absolutely MAGIC ( truly ) it will prolong cutting tool life by many years and the extra high quality finish it leaves on the work is superb. It really will make your life easier. Avail. on Ebay also.
  2. Bought it about 10 years ago from a fellow restorer, new head bearings and in top condition having done only very light work. Second hand cost was $8500, with 3 and 4 jaw chucks, also imperial size collets. The drills are available most places inc. Ebay. The Schaublin is mainly used for re-pivoting damaged and broken antique clock pivots.
  3. A good quality lathe and tools are needed for repair work, and machine tools ain`t cheap. A new Schaublin 70 lathe will set you back approx $50,000. Thought you might like to see these. The drills are tungsten carbide, and range in size from 0.3mm - 2.3mm and are totally useless in anything other than a lathe or cnc machine.
  4. Slai/ sssurfer/ demon slayer, send me the crowns , and I will drill the broken stems out, what have you to loose ? The crowns are allready rooted !!
  5. Unless the stem and crown are of 2 different materials, ie brass and steel, you will end up doing more harm than good with this method. The acid in the vinegar is simply not strong enough by far to eat and bite into steel, let alone differentiate between the crown and the stem. The crown needs to be colleted in a lathe and the broken stem drilled , a size smaller than the actual thread size. The broken stem will then be able to be un-screwed leaving the original threads intact. Tungsten carbide micro drills are used at 500 rpm with plenty of cutting oil. I have drilled down to 0.3 mm dia. into hardened steel with no problems. ( no annealing or re-hardening required ).
  6. Try pushing those pins out the wrong way and you will need more than a simple goon tutorial. ( Not all bracelets have arrows showing which way they should be pushed out ). Laugh at me if you will, mark my words , some plonker is going to write a post, HELP, my pin is stuck.
  7. Anything into Australia, valued under $A 1000, sails in and clears. That doesn`t include drugs, pills etc. You should find it will clear by to-night, go to the postal hub, and be scheduled for delivery to-morrow.
  8. Sounds simple and hope you know, just make CERTAIN you push the pins out , in the correct direction, otherwise you will need more than a pin removal tool.
  9. Both the graphite dial and the black dial are extremely popular, with the black dial/silver subs there is a distinct contrast on the dial itself, it all comes down to personel choice, whichever way you decide, it is becoming increasingly harder to actually get what you want from any dealer, ie. you may decide on one or the other, only for the dealer to send you something different, ( sub dial color / date font etc. ) As there are various combinations as to what is the closest to gen, just make sure you give exact instructions to the dealer. Read this thread through fully, also lots of pics. http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=4617&page=9
  10. This is one big boat WE ARE ALL IN. If anyone thinks it`s bad now,................ give it 12-18 months then say the same, You will be wishing it was like NOW.
  11. Just read the past 4 pages, and am surprised that no-one has mentioned the CARBON EMMISSION TRADING SCHEME. What do you think prices in general are going to do when every country has to pay or trade for the carbon they burn. Kevin Rudd is in Japan now signing our lives away. Estimates so far here in Oz. are 30 BILLION $ per year ( This is just Oz. ) BHP Billeton has just re-negotiated the price of iron ore to the Chinese for a 95 % price rise .
  12. I think with 9 replies on this topic, everyone here knows exactly what to do. Or is too frightened to ask. I can understand any posters feelings when this happens. Maybe the subject heading should have been, " who takes steroids"? Then there may have been 99 replies, and in the top ten for 9 days or so.
  13. I thought that was a good post. Without experience and looking at all the excellent pics. really does deter a lot of folks. What this post does , IMHO , is to try and give confidence to any beginer to have a go, IT DOESN`T MATTER WHAT THE RESULT IS, the main thing is to have a try. ( no one will laugh at you.... I promise ) Like the old saying, the lord helps those that try to help themselves. I am absolutely certain that ANY experienced photographer here would help any member try to improve, once they have had a try for themselves. Also there are great tutorials by Pugwash in the photography section, .........easy to understand as well.
  14. That must be one of the best Breitling casebacks I have seen. ( you sure thats a rep ?) I have both the ETA black and white dial, and the "engraving" appears etched. Even the bracelet has the model depose script instead of the English version. This compares better with the gen caseback even on the windrider chronomat gt. (gen ).
  15. Many here would disagree with you on that point.
  16. A member here can supply brand new gen swiss eta 7750`s for $450. ( sometimes a bit cheaper, when he has had a wine or beer or three. )
  17. I would prefer No. 1 Whichever you choose , just make sure you press the pins out in the right direction, ( sounds simple , I know ) or you really will be pushing you know what uphill.
  18. Done. Be sure to let us know the result Ken. Don`t think we know how the father and son went on.
  19. That humble honest worker has more depth of character than you will ever have , for as long as you live. To me , you are nothing better than a low life and a waste of space, and if anyone EVER said that I was a waste of space, I would be truly ASHAMED.
  20. I thought it was an automatic re-newal ? ( Ongoing debit payment ). Has THAT changed now?
  21. I have mentioned before that Andrew spends 6 months of the year in Singapore. Answers some of his calls on a Blackberry, and you don`t think he dropships also ? There`s a little shipping factory going on there , believe me. As for comments like that, joke or not,........remember ready money can go anywhere.
  22. I have found no better information anywhere than here, these guys are the pros. 23. The math on the Paul McCartney-Heather Mills divorce is as follows: After 5 years of marriage, he paid her $49 million. Assuming he got sex every night during their 5 year relationship (which would NOT have happened!) it ended up costing him $26,849 per time. This is Heather. On the other hand, Elliot Spitzer's call girl, Kristen, an absolute stunner with a body like no other, charges $4,000 an hour. For anything! This is Kristen. Had Paul McCartney 'employed' Kristen for 5 years, he would've paid $7.3 million for an hour of sex every night for 5 years (a saving of $41.7 million). Value-added benefits are: a 22 year old hot babe, no begging, no coaxing, never a headache, plays all requests, ability to put BOTH legs around you (!!!), no bitching and complaining or 'to do' lists. Best of all, she leaves when you're done, and comes back when you ask her. All at 1/7th the cost, with no legal fees. Sometimes renting makes far more sense.
