  1. Well said, and completely true.
  2. Please understand this in its simplest form. I am not upset with any of the above questions in any shape or form. I think the reps I have bought have been truly outstanding for their quality and price, simply because I was told the facts and truth before I committed to buy. I also own gen watches . If a person or persons deliberately lies and mis-informs me about a purchase then simply I am finished with that person/dealer. I would also wager that 95% of the members buying here feel the same way.
  3. That is really a childish comment, which will get no-one anywhere.
  4. Don`t want to start anything here but, if you are happy being lied to and being scammed for your purchases , then fine by me. I simply want the truth , so I can decide for myself.
  5. A very good post indeed and thankyou. At last I feel we are all getting somewhere, but what I ,and am sure the rest of you do want to know is....... Just what are the physical differences between the genuine Swiss ETA and the Chinese clone movement ? Also the ongoing marketing by our dealers, saying that these movements are GENUINE SWISS ETA.2824-2/2836-2 This boils down to deliberate deceit and lies.
  6. "if you get one in a watch that was supposed to have an ETA, about the best you can do is try to get a price adjustment from your dealer- it's not the end of the world. Asian 21j, clone or ETA- anyone of them could need to be serviced at some point- sooner or later- there are no guarantees." Sorry, If I get an Asian 21j or clone ,in a watch that I have paid for Swiss ETA 2824-2 believe me when I say the $hit WILL hit the fan. Not the end of the world , No, but it is LIES and DECEPTION.
  7. A similar thread is going on at, http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=75626 Whereas euro-timez has given his opinion as to whether a so called Swiss ETA 2824-2 , sold by Josh,( as a swiss eta 2824-2 ) is genuine or in fact a clone. No evidence or backup, simply another hit at another dealer.
  8. Getting upset ? Far from it. I simply cannot tolerate far ranging opinions without any backup or hard evidence. This question has been asked a dozen times by different members and this seems to be the only thing that comes up..... "My opinion" ..... fine , I will take anyone`s opinion, but please show me/us how and why, then this question can be laid to rest. "If Rodwc would take some pictures of the movement, I'll take a look at it... because COPY ETA also have stamps and engravings on them... I need high quality pics from different sides tho... But the best way according to my watchmaker who opens every single watch-case-back, said the best indication is to look at the ROTOR, take off the rotor and you will see the difference if you know where to look for..." This I did, if you care to read the link from my last post. He gives his opinion in both post`s , and really no-one is any wiser , so far it has all been opinions , guesswork, and hot air. Again from The Zigmeister, "So that leads me to believe that ETA still produces the 2836-2 and 2824-2 movements, if you buy the factory ones direct from ETA in Switzerland, you will get a gold plated movement, if you want the cheaper surplus ones, you get nickel plated ones from the HK distributor."
  9. This is simply not good enough Euro-Timez. Putting other dealer`s goods down without any relevent facts is just sour grapes on your part. This is the second time you have made this statement without any backup proof !!!!! http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=75350 PUT UP OR SHUT UP. The following is a post from The Zigmeister, and still doesn`t fully answer the OP question. Group: Supporter Posts: 2,411 Joined: 19-March 06 User's local time: Jun 7 2008, 03:53 AM From: Canada Member No.: 452 Trader Stats: All I can offer is the information I have been told by supplier. The short answer was this, they sell two types of ETA movements, normal ones, and "Swiss" ones...when I asked what the difference was between the two types, the answer was this: "We have brand new blister pack sealed factory ETA XXXX movements, the factory ones are "Gold" coloured, and the "normal" (surplus) ones are all silver nickel plated ones" When I asked where the nickel plated ones were from, this was the answer: "All nickel plated ETA's are from the Hong Kong distributor of ETA movemnets..." So that leads me to believe that ETA still produces the 2836-2 and 2824-2 movements, if you buy the factory ones direct from ETA in Switzerland, you will get a gold plated movement, if you want the cheaper surplus ones, you get nickel plated ones from the HK distributor. If someone wants to pay for me to buy a ETA sealed one so we can find out for sure, it's not a problem, I'll buy it and show you what I get. I think ETA is a screwed up company anyway, I have spoken to the Candian distributor and they haven't a clue about anything... RG
  10. This is simply a question, and am not saying one is better over the other. Why would anyone go to the trouble and expense of switching a slate dial with a black re-haute? When a black dial/black re-haute is available. Is it for the contrast between the slate dial and black re-haute? Or simply because it can be done ? or people prefer slate dials ? To me there isn`t much difference between slate and black.
  11. I will be fully honest here when I say that I do not like rubber straps, but I have to admit that the gen Breit. rubber strap certainly does this watch justice. It takes the eye away from the flashy bracelet directly to the watch itself. Along with all the other mods. and especially the jet black dial all make this piece a real stunner. Very nice indeed.
  12. Possibly, but at this stage the majority of us don`t know if we actually received a Swiss eta 2824-2. "But the best way according to my watchmaker who opens every single watch-case-back, said the best indication is to look at the ROTOR, take off the rotor and you will see the difference if you know where to look for..." Euro-timez made this statement, but as yet hasn`t backed it up with any factual points, and at this stage the statement is looking nothing more than a sales ploy.
  13. @ eurotimez. sorry but I don`t think this is quite fair to the members here by not replying to the above posts, especially after making statements regarding the Breitling Heritage 2824 eta movement.
  14. Definately a few clowns short of a circus. This guy isn`t sick............... just as nutty as a fruit cake, and certainly not the brightest crayon in the box.
  15. OK., since the last cry for help from Admin . for future funds to support RWG , just where are we? A decision will be made later to-day or to-morrow. The supporters will be the first to know. Well that has come and gone and still , I for one do not know what the outcome of all this has been. Apart from the members , pulling RWG out of the poo, what has changed for the better? What changes have been made? What is the outcome and status of membership? Look, I should NOT be having to ask these questions. These answers should have been shown and told UPFRONT.
  16. Still waiting Chris. This is something which affects every buyer of a , so called SWISS ETA 2824-2 movement.
  17. Sure, when you say high quality pics , what resolution and size do you need ? Don`t really want to take the hands and dial off. We could all very well learn something here.
  18. Someone with posts of almost 1000, and been a member for over 2 years, and you do not know that Ruby has a web site.................. OH MAN, where have you been , and just what are you doing.? Try http://nicereplica.com/article.php?T=How%20To%20Order Edit. the Breitling Superocean Heritage is not listed on Ruby`s site here.
  19. Doubt and probability are two different things. I bought my Breit. superocean heritage, Swiss ETA 2824 for $240 ................3 months ago. I have opened the case and it is just that. Please do not doubt , that there are other dealers willing to drop their prices for a sale.
  20. @Tee-jay "To compare The Zigmeister to Monet is fine. But. Monet is not the only fine painter in the world." People come ..........people go.........they are simply human, whatever their deeds and needs.
  21. Don`t want to take anything away from the guys here, but have you had a look at the strap forum over at Repgeeks, just something to spoil your choice.
  22. Isn`t there a bit of irony here,........if traffic is the life blood of a forum, what good is traffic if it isn`t helping to keep RWG viable ? RWG just becomes another internet site for one and all,............ at our expense. Money has to be generated on a regular, ongoing basis to keep any forum viable.
  23. This is the kind of helpful people we have got available to us here. To me cbr, jestures like this are priceless. I have done it in the past and can imagine the feeling the receiver gets from it all. WELL DONE.
  24. "we will loose big chunk of the members to other boards ." What would we be loosing ? What are they contributing anyway ? How long before those "other boards" become bogged down with dead wood and excess traffic/bandwidth ? I will answer that myself by saying, The minority here are making this whole RWG possible by supporting the board financially/reviews/donations,etc. How can we be loosing anything , we can only gain by them going. No posts, no donations, they are simply freeloaders feeding off the providors. The free lunches are over. Secure RWG now, and keep the content top quality.
  25. Whether Admin., or anyone cares to listen or not, there have been some good suggestions allready. This problem will arise again sometime down the track, unless addressed NOW. The situation of leaving the financial side to the minority , ie. the Supporters and donations, to carry the can for the whole RWG simply has to be changed. That at least stops the leak. A number of 12000 members , with more than 11500 paying nothing is simply ludicrous. Sort the wheat from the chaff, by just who is willing to pay for, after all A SERVICE. 1000 members at $60 is $ 60,000. How much is needed per annum ? Also to be quite frank , out of the 700 views from this post and only 58 replies, this shows just who cares about RWG. There is too much dead wood around .
