The surface finish on straight sand casting is fairly course, too much for this application. I think you can forget chrome plating, very hard and cold looking in appearance, Straight nickel plating is much softer, and easier to age.

Using the lost wax process, and an original bezel............ a shrinkage % would have to be factored in. I think usually it `s about 7%- 9% This factor would only have to be applied to the outer dia, as , when the inner dia. shrinks it can be machined out to size. Sorry , that last sentance is wrong, the thing would shrink all over. ( It wouldn`t be cast anyway ).

I thought so too, but the votes appear to be registering. Am only using 1 computer.

Link changed. On the gen, the t, in ft. is spaced towards the end of superocean (underneath ) and the a is almost above it. On the rep , the t, in ft. is spaced towards the e . It`s half a space out. It`s like the spacing on the NON chrono with the "P" tail pointing to the "U" in "automatic and not the "A" as on the gen.
-
Beats me why you guys have to open a new thread about the same topic. The font spacing is way off again in the chrono. Look at the "t" in "ft" , the second "E" in Superocean. On the gen the " t " points far closer to the "a" http://blog.breitlingsource.com/wp-content...8/01/sob13a.jpg http://www.timeshops.net/pic/digi/1331-193_sml12.jpg

The main problem here is getting OUT of China. Chinese customs are simply not the same. So in the cargo baggage is the best place , then when you arrive at the destination all that is needed,is to tell them that these are not a commercial quantity, and simply gifts for the kids. Best of luck.

You don`t say if this offer is for Conus only, allthough I fear international postage would kill it. What actually is a series 1200 or 1400 ? "This tells me that people are more interested in their watches being displayed in a "pretty" watch box". My watches are in a Cardboard box at the moment, waiting for something like this.

New Camera, Olympus E 510. DSLR.
rodwc replied to rodwc's topic in Photo Tips, Tricks, & Tutorials...
All this is very , very interesting and intriguing. ( since reading Pugwash`s lume image experiments, and computer control ). Whilst attempting to find my way around the camera settings , ( this will come far easier with experimenting and fiddling ) the concept of managing this from a computer is a bit baffling. From the camera comes a single usb2 cable, to the computer, ( into which program ?), the camera shutter button is still pressed ?? From the point of view, "use the manual settings, to see what the camera can do ," I don`t mean to sound flippant, but can`t the auto mode setting do this? Please tell us all more , as I am certain that more people than I , are very interested in this. Thanks for your time. -
I have allways admired the photography on RWG and have said so. The time and effort members spend bringing their photographic skills to show us here, also the tutorials as to how to do these things. Without it , well, I can`t even think what it would be like with words alone. Having a fair grasp on how to press the button, upload to computer, manipulate the image for correction etc. my existing camera was fine for what I wanted it for, compact, simple point and shoot, portability but it would allways have limitations. ( Casio, Exilim, 10,1 mp. ) Since the outlay for DSLR a couple of years ago was to say the least a personal loan, mortgage extension, I really put it out of mind. So when Pugwash and one or two others started talking about Cannon DSLR my interest was aroused again. The price now had plummeted down to around 1 K. for a more than decent entry level DSLR. Not having to justify, a new purchase and fed up with mending and making do,off I went. I had it firmly in my mind , a Nikon D40 X or a similar Cannon, Had a look at them in the shop, yeah great I`ll have one,............ whats that , there is no direct view through the lens on to the LCD, ( even the simplest compact has that ) I was put off. Cut to the chase, I ended up with an Olympus E510 ( 10.2 mp ) which came with a standard 14-42mm lens and also got a Macro 35mm 1:3.5 lens. As to how to put all this together and take great pics, not yet I`m afraid. I simply havn`t worked out what all the buttons and k.n.ob.s are for. The shop has an introductory course for people like me, followed by 2 advanced courses which I`m not sure about just yet. Have heard one or two members have this model camera , LordRasta is one I think, so if anyone can give any tips etc. how you are finding this camera, would love to hear from you.

Brilliant, the bear simply wanted some company.

Plexiglass is the correct term for it . ( it`s the modern term ) Perspex , when all is said and done, is plastic, still the same thing. Please , persevere , and go back to the AR coated crystal, this watch and you deserve it.

Would you buy a low-profile Daytona 1165xx case for $139?
rodwc replied to freddy333's topic in The Rolex Area
Now that is a helpful and informative answer ( for my case anyway ). I never knew that this existed , or was possible. At this stage, I have absolutely NO issues with Tony, my description to what actually transpired with CQout was a totally different issue. Thanks Tee-jay. -
You didn`t say if the crystal was saphire or mineral. If it was saphire , replacing that ,( especially after being AR`d ) with plexi is like putting a wellington boot on ,instead of a latex condom . I realise that not everybody is willing to work on reps., but this is a crystal re-placement, not a movement overhaul. Start looking and asking around for other watchmakers willing to look at reps. Sounds like incompetence to me.

Talk about being bold and hard faced, well done. I take it a Kimber 1991 is a firearm ( we don`t have that privilege in Oz, it sure would make a difference ). There is allways some moron wanting the easy way.

OK. This is the last I will write about bezels. The Rolex sub/Omega SM/ Breitling Superocean Heritage, ALL have the SAME bezel clicking assembly. The main difference as far as the Breitling SH, is that, it is an absolute bastard to remove. Forget the outer screws, they do nothing apart from look nice. Anyone that wants to try it , at least do a SEARCH on BEZEL, first. This link will inform you of what to do , once you get your BSOH bezel off. READ the WHOLE post to see just what problems members have had, then see the outcome. I havn`t posted pics because they are the same as in the link, except one bezel is brass, the other is SS. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=69639&st=0 The bezel isn`t just tight on the watch case , its almost rivited. ( on mine anyway ). If not removed equally all round, you will end up seriously distorting it. i.e. bending the crap out of it . THE CRITICAL PART IN TIGHTENING THESE BEZELS IS THAT WIRE HEXAGONAL TENSIONER. IT PUTS FRICTION ON THE CASE BODY, JUST BELOW THE CRYSTAL. If there is a lot of play between the crystal and the most inner part of the turning bezel, you are in trouble. Please believe me this mf of a bezel is one a$$hole to remove. The best of luck.

It certainly is a dying art. In Australia, the federal government has neglected for over 15 years to secure manufacturing apprenticships. The outcome now , very little home manufacture and a major shortage of skilled labour. The result , go have it made in China. Pass it down, no, pass it over. Toolmakers worldwide, have never been in a protected industry and paid what they are worth.

Breitling Superocean Heritage Wristshots!
rodwc replied to piratedzeus's topic in The Breitling Area
The darker brown Toscana, if you really , really twisted my arm. For me, nothing beats the 3.2mm mesh .
