  1. I agree, there are some Longines out there that I really love.
  2. Thanks for all the good wishes. I'll see if I can knock it out of the park.
  3. 150369626526 Faux chrono-note the 1-7 dial-and admittedly a plastic strap.
  4. I love it! Those Pams can really handle unorthodox strap materials like hornback.
  5. I was thinking that I'd like to speak to a bishop. If I go to Rome, where can I find one?
  6. I will go to Los Angeles tomorrow for a job interview. Interviews are one of those times when even the most self-assured among us might give some thought to how we appear. Since I'm always thinking about watches, one of my first thoughts was "Which watch will I wear?" That has to depend on the job. This job is in a lab making slides of biopsied human tissue for pathologists to review and diagnose. The interview will include a test of my microtome and tissue-mounting technique, and I was told to dress casually because of this. I decided to go with the Seiko SKX009: I chose this one because it's not a rep, and I wouldn't want to be called out on one in this situation. It looks good, but doesn't shout. And, it's high water resistance (200m) makes it amenable to having chemicals and biologicals washed off of it in case of a spill. I also tend to like bezeled watches in the lab to help me track incubations and other timed events. What watches would you wear, or have you worn to job interviews?
  7. "I think it might work, but, would the emissions of a UV lamp be concentrated enough? I don't want to have to leave it running for 20 years to get the look " Not so, you'd have the inverse square law working for you. Try JC Whitney. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Search?catalogId=10101&storeId=10101&sku=ZX473463&zmam=73771597&zmas=4&zmac=78&zmap=ZX473463
  8. What about placing it directly under a UV lamp in the back of a closet or garage? Never done this, just brainstorming.
  9. I say we open his caseback and pull of his hands. Failing that, maybe a simple DOS attack on the domain he's advertising.
  10. Tourneau would be too obvious, so.......WalMart?
  11. I sent this pic to my former boss, and he went over and bought an Omega DeVille for 70% off.
  12. Outstanding! I think vintage oysters look best on Nato straps.
  13. That looks outstanding. I hate watches where I have to work to tell the time.
  14. The red stitching is an ideal touch for that watch.
  15. Mbjoer, I love that graphic. It tells a lot with a glance. I remember seeing a survey of consumers with incomes >$1M USD/yr. They asked them which brands they held in highest esteem (not recognition). Among that demographic, the winner was IWC. I forget which other brands placed, and also how many were surveyed.
  16. I was over at the local BBB today. The prices look pretty good. They told me it was chain-wide. You may be able to see the silver Aquaracer chrono for under $1400US. They also had a few Baume & Mercier for attractive prices. Wish I wasn't unemployed.
  17. "So if they had continued with the Bond theme throughout the wedding it would have been awsome...." Well, right after Bond was married, his bride was fatally shot by Blofeld and Irma Bunt (OHMSS). So it sounds like they cut the Bond theme off at the right time.
  18. +1 It's good to have all these comparisons in one place. Thanks.
  19. My eyes are bleeding. I think my retinas have detached too.
  20. One reason for them taking action may be US (perhaps others) copyright and trademark laws. There is a principle in American trademark and copyright law that, in a nutshell, mandates that a copyright owner must defend their copyrights and trademarks whenever they think they are infringed, or they lose their legal protections. So they find that legally, they must do something. They then fall into the trap of the Politician's Syllogism (From "Yes, Prime Minister"). We must do something. This is something. Therefore, we must do this.
  21. I just received a black 22mm NATO in the mail from International Watchman (crazy prices!) It fits my 3717 as if it were made for it.
  22. Your bluff re-raise worked perfectly.
  23. Perhaps "Sea-Rambler" is what one would wear if taking a stroll on top of the Sea of Galilee.
  24. I bought the gold-handed model for my wife. The crystal fell out and the rotor kept coming loose.
  25. I love this forum. I was just searching the net for 21mm NATOs yesterday.
