  1. How else could you get the same customer to buy three (or more) of the same watch? The dealers wouldn't be using those misleading terms if their ad copy had to be approved by Legal. Why not call it Solid Gold, 100% Waterproof, Made in Switzerland? The point they need to see is that intelligent buyers would feel more comfortable trading with someone who gives them the honest truth; it's natural to feel more at ease with a dealer who represents their product with integrity instead of relying on peoples optimism and building false expectations. It would cut down on returns, too, further increasing profits. I think this idea is sometimes lost in translation.
  2. It's an Ultimate Planet Ocean weekend; glad I could join in: I got the chance to wear a gen for a couple days, and I have to say the UPO not only is damn close visually, but wears and feels the same in quality. It's glued to my wrist, at least until the next parcel arrives!
  3. Here you go--a Grade 1 Swiss Bargain! http://www.bluefakes.com/yachtmaster-2.htm
  4. It's still in transit, shipped via EMS, USPS doesn't say where it just says it cleared Customs. I got the biggest one, of course! B&R only made the Phantom in 46mm AFAIK.
  5. My low-budget Phantom just cleared Customs; I was a little surprised it got here so fast form China during the holidays. I specifically wanted a quartz version with working chronos, so I can see how I like it and maybe get the non-chrono when the "good" version comes out. So what if it has no lume, the "MILIARY" typo and phony bolts on the caseback--it was only $50. So,does anyone else have a Phantom?
  6. I was waiting for the Phantom to make an appearande, or the HBB All Black. Is that a gen, ximenes?
  7. Since I'm a scurvy pirate, and I hate TV, I watch tons of movies. Right now I've been too busy to watch them all so there's a huge backlog of mostly independent films, mostly what gets seen first is stuff I think my ladyfriend will like. Here are some of the recent ones, in order of worst to best: Hitman--I liked the game so I had to see it The Jane Austen Book Club--chick flick of course but watchable I Am Legend--I still say they ripped off Old Yeller Death Sentence--Kevin Bacon in the new Deathwish movie Rambo--better than expected The Bucket List--cute, my parents would like it JUNO--cute, my parents would like this too We Own the Night--I was a little distracted and missed the beginning but I think I prefer this to American Gangster Charlie Wilson
  8. Cool--modded with gen parts! Couldn't I just pop into Ben Bridge and ask them nicely?
  9. I could translate this for you, but basically what you need to do is look at the watches yourself, then explain the defects in very simple terms. As for inaccuracies, only bring them up if they are different (not same-same) from the photos. The "cheap feeling" bracelet is either ceramic, or painted steel, find out which. I would leave any mention of your friend out of correspondence with the dealer entirely.
  10. I'm thinking of buying that $40 Roadster, along with something quartz for the ladyfriend.
  11. I break it down into two categories: 1) A very short list of pricy, modded, reps that I would wear in demanding social situations where I cannot afford to be called out. 2) A long, varied list of cheap (under $100) reps I can wear comfortably to work or around friends where I know no one is going to know any better. Watches in category #1 would be my 127E or a modded UPO; category #2 would be my Tag SLR or B&R Phantom. This is why I haven't ordered an HBB yet, the watch would technically belong in group #1, but those people would be in a position to know how much it would have had to cost me. It's one thing to wear a $3K-$6K watch with some genuine value and quite another to sport a $14K fashion watch. So it's nice but it doesn't really matter that it's so accurate since I would never buy the gen no matter how rich I was.
  12. The way the Ufanta site is laid out, you have to click on a subcategory under each watch brand to see all the stuff available, like "1 Sub Dial, 2 Sub Dial , 2 Timer, 3 Sub Dial, 4 Sub Dial, Crazy Hours, Tourbillon." There are actually 42 Franck Muller models listed. Ufanta sells some pretty crazy fantasy watches, I didn't know Cartier made 54 different chronos?
  13. "The Nines", which was pretty good. The main character sports a Roadster Chrono during the first part of the film.
  14. A dealer on TRC has one: Rizshop
  15. Hmm... not much feedback for this guy, do you know anyone who ordered from him?
  16. I might be able to help you out when I get home--I have a lot of links saved to lesser-known dealers. I had to go off the reservation to get my Phantom anyway. I always liked the small date model better myself, didn't realize it only came in stainless.
  17. From time to time I get the urge to try a ring, but nothing ever seems right. When I was doing my (long, grueling) engagement ring shopping I would check out the men's rings too. I though Titanium would be cool, but they are hideously overpriced at the shops; if you want a laugh see how much they want for a Ti or Tungsten steel mans ring at your favorite jeweler. I bought a titanium men's wedding band from a shop on Amazon on a whim, they were having a sale and they were priced about right for a bit of metal ($20). The style was very nice: a thick, wide, square-edged shape that suited my big hand. I wear it occasionally on my right hand, but after wearing it a while I decided steel or Ti is too cheap looking for a ring. Also, the modern profile looks cool but is too wide to be comfortable. If we ever make it to the wedding I'll let my bride-to-be buy me a platinum band,6 or 7mm wide and square-edged but not as thick. It's no where near as tough as Ti but easy to polish. Anything more than a simple band I just don't think fits my personal style. I used to wear a class ring, but couldn't imagine wearing it now.
  18. Thanks guys. I was actually surprised how small it wears as I was expecting this massive watch. Very hard to judge proportions from the wristchecks here; even in my own photos it looks bigger on my wrist than it does in person.
  19. Well, I don't have to think too much about what watch to put on--not untill those other reps start rolling in. Sorry 'bout the cameraphone. Hope everyone is having a nice winter! My roadster does have a top but I have no idea what it looks like.
  20. I bet the king of the "bros" here has a nice watch.
  21. You think that's good, wait 'till the BluRay rip comes out. That watch in the second screenshot, anybody recognize it? I kind of like those analog-digital types.
  22. Here's a couple more of the other mercs wrists: And JR practicing his archery: He checks the time twice during the big rescue:
  23. It seemed pretty reflective for PVD: This ana-digi watch was quartz: Is this a Luminox?
  24. I just saw it myself, there were quite a few wristchecks. The movie itself was OK if you like seeing heads explode.
