1665 Revisited

It's been a while since I've posted any shots of this one. A mainstay of my collection for a couple of years now, it's aging gracefully, I think...

That is a very nice watch Avitt.

It's great to see it posted here.

You should share photos more often with us, they are very good and clear.

Thanks for sharing.

Jummy, this one of the classics if you ask me.

Wear it well and keep it on your collection.

Let me take my pathetic imitation and find some place where I can bury it before I slink off and hide for a while...

Seriously, it looks great! Maybe that's what mine will look similar to when it grows up!

Those photos should be THE reference shots for modding crown guards. Utterly superb. Magnificent. :drinks:

Thanks a lot, you just gave my 1665 an inferiority complex!

Never fear, there's a solution for that too. :whistling:

Thanks all! (Looking at the posters on this thread is like a "Who's Who" of vintage modifiers...Very humbling.)

This is probably the most versatile watch in my collections. It fits everywhere...backyard, beach, boardroom...dress shirt, sport shirt, T-shirt/shorts...

Thanks Nanuq.

A bit of a confession: This was my second crown guard job on the same watch....

Some may remember my first 1665 attempt. I had modded those crown guards just the way I liked them...Then I got the unfortunate itch to perform the "Pugwash Mod" (lowering the base of the crownguard, so that the crown sits just under the bezel), and I managed to f' the whole thing up. Nothing to do but get a new case, and start over. (I've also changed a few other parts over the years, like the dial & bracelet.)

The results are startlingly similar, I think :thumbsupsmileyanim:

BTW, Nanuq, this was one of the original Tropic 39's, purchase from Andy on your reference...Thanks!

My pleasure! It's sure good to see it here on such a stunner. I've got to say too, your case work is at least as nice as the one RepAustria did... And I fell in LOVE with that one!

Very, very, verrrrry nice. :notworthy:

Avitt,

sorry, can you tell us the case base?

Plain old MBW.
