Nanuq
haha it would be a love fest. I'd do me baby! In the context of the CRU, would that be a "peer review"?
Corgi
Have you tried calling the Pope a Nazi? That's usually good for 5-6 pages. If the traffic hadn't picked up over the last few months I was going to start an OT thread myself. "President Obama; I would probably like him more if he only got C's at Harvard too". I can't believe 'Corgi' doesn't like my signature gif. It's hot. Whether i like it or dislike it is irrelevant. It is absolutely inappropriate for a forum of this kind. If you want this kind of stuff, type "naked lady" into google and have fun. RWG is about watches first and you guys who appear to be lacking human female contact can keep it in that one dedicated porn thread which I believe is the longest thread on RWG. Turning off everybody's signatures is unfair to those of you who actually have clever, creative, and helpful things to say/show with the rest of the community. For example, that one guy who took a photo of mars, hey, I think that's interesting and very nice! But if you just have jiggling boobies - I will think, hey!, you are a degenerate. Demsey
It is absolutely inappropriate for a forum of this kind. I think that's up to the board Administration to decide. Not you. Send Admin. a personal message. If he contacts me with regard I will comply with his directive. Or, you can build your own web site and run it as you wish? maxman
How anyone could be offended by Demseys sig Is trully??? I I really dont know what to say There are two things I love In this world, watches and jiggly boobies. If It were not for these two things I would fine It difficult to go on. I mean come on even some of the Muppets gang Is showing some clevage. Have you seen the rack on Miss Piggy (talk about makin some bacon) and she Is wearing a Panerai, 111 I think. See watches and nudity do belong together.
cornerstone
Have you seen the rack on Miss Piggy (talk about makin some bacon) and she Is wearing a Panerai, 111 I think. See watches and nudity do belong together. Here's my personal view: This a forum for people that enjoy watches, not for the watches themselves (we haven't had any watches sign up anyway). I enjoy the camaraderie, and that extends beyond watches. I find that the kinds of people that are attracted to this hobby are, happily, very cool guys. I like a laugh, if that involves a risqué joke so be it. Life's short, and we're all grown-ups. Some European cultures consider it rude if you don't show boobies. [i may be wrong on this one, but it was certainly the impression I gained around Pigalle, Rieperbahn and De Wallen (random sample)). There's a button where you can switch avatars and signatures off. One button. To censor 23,000 members because one person doesn't want to press a button doesn't stand to reason. If you don't want to see them, just turn them off. It's that easy. Demsey
It's an uncanny filter this; I felt victimized buy the membership of RWG filter. If Doc reports there are members of other boards that found RWG, specifically the conduct of the membership, offensive to their sensitivities? It's certainly not my place, but I'd personally prefer they stay where they feel more welcome. Elsewhere. It just occurrs; Doc notwithstanding, the premise of this thread is really starting to [censored] me the [censored] off. There's another good reason for Platinum membership 'lanikai' you may want to use to the endowment's advantage".....starting to [censored] me the [censored] off"" just doesn't carry the same weight. lanikai
Dems .. I or "we" may be knocked for pushing members to upgrade.. but this is just another example of a member taking from the community and leaving his shit on the floor! I will continue to say... if you are benefiting.. even from one rep. .. it would be the right thing to do to donate and upgrade.. As of now we need to raise funds for our winter usage fees.. this form has a lotta love.. but ove dun pay the bills.. and if the debate continues about those not feeling welcomed..my answered pm's and everyone else' will attest to the fact that we all go above and beyond to assist noobs weather they are supporters or not... if one does not feel "welcome" there must be good reason... nobody gets shunned for being a good guy. As far as avatars.. shit,.. if your at work.. work.. if you are at home take care of the kids first!.. family first.. that you have a family has nothing to do with this forum.. Children are a blessing and a privilege to cherish.. enough whining and nit picking about avatars.. if members want to put their GF.. mistress.. man-man...girl-girl.. whateva.. I'll come right out and say it.. as a rank and file member.. there are those on other foras that constantly attack members here.. we protect our own.. we protect "Our House". if 8 cents a day is asking .. (and I will continue) too much then a rep or any watch would be beyond your means.. nuff said L
jmb
Lani, I've wondered why the bills are so high. On the forum I administer the hosting package we have is very reasonable and we have unlimited bandwidth, maybe we should shop around... We changed hosts about a year ago and it was relatively painless. New host, install software, backup/restore, DNS change, fini!

Demsey
Just conjecture about 'cost' J, but I think, along side the security, is the need for clandestine off shore servers. RWG old recipe was rousted by the authorities. Hard. The domestic hardware was within Federal jurisdiction. The webmaster there tried to skirt the issue by hosting the 'trade' section as a separate entity linked to RWG. No dice. Before the site imploded the webmaster was working toward the set up which is in place here. That costs big. I remember the sum of 3K being discussed. I don't know enough about hosting to say what that was for; set up costs, term cost or what. If the Admin. says it costs 'X' then it costs 'X'. fijikid
This thread has been a real spleener! I've read every post and I'll sum up my reactions: Allergy Doc, I commend you - I've never been able to start an 8 page post on any topic on any forum, so well done. Gatchaman and Lani marched straight down the path to hell is paved with good intentions trail - coupled with the de-personalized nature of email communications. Too bad on that count. Corgi: while I see your point about the avatars and gifs, nothing's really that bad, but then again, everyone's taste and values are different. What really annoys me is that your animated-gif-fest actually causes my computer to lock up for a second. That should be banned! I'm pretty much a low-count noob who's been around for a wee while, but when I do post, I usually get feedback from some of the the most knowledgeable cats on this forum, and that is nice. I appreciate the 'gentleman's club' vibe around here and Gioarmani's gf's ass is just about as good as it gets, so bonus to me. Lastly, I must say that I don't really appreciate the effort that goes into maintaining and running a large forum like this, so THANK YOU to all the guys that make this place function - 'tis truly a labor of love (so rare these days!). spa
Demsey, the old rwg was brought down many times and received many threats just because of the dealers section. Any of sites like this are subject to be targeted like that when illegal goods trading is involved. So anyone would think: Since it's all about the dealers section that puts this site into trouble then why not the dealers fund the costs for running the forum secure and trouble free? (End of addressing this to Demsey - below goes to all) Then the dealers would think: we not running our own forum sites and pay for our own site? -BINGO. Now we're f*****. What do we do now? -Well, the only option is member donation. Fine. We'll do that. -And what about those members who don't want/can't pay donations? -Well, this is a free site. We don't want to ban freebies. -But the other members who pay? shouldn't they be [censored] off? -Well some of them they may do. -But why? isn't their decision to support this forum? -Hell yes, but you know how it is..."why do you take it for free while i pay for it?" -Well, i never asked for it to be free. You gave it free so i'm here trying to contribute in other ways than my wallet. -Well OK. But you touch only the cake on the left (the one with the old raspberry's smell). The cake on the right is for the premiums. -... -... End of conversation. That's the reason i silently moved away and i'm sure i'm not missed to anyone. Did i miss you? Well most of you yes. But i already missed TRC, old RWG...but they don't exist anymore. Well i missed TTK too (although i had mixed feelings for his posts...) but TTK is not here anymore and i'm not sure why. Well it's not always a win-win situation and you can't have everything. Problem is that: I'm a member of: 2 car forums 5 motorcycle forums 3 rep forums (including this one) 4 legal watches forums 3 HiFi HighEnd audio forums 2 turntable/vinyl forums 2 electronic circuits forums 3 Computer IT related forums (my job) 24 forums already and and old member on at least half of them. Sorry but my wallet is not that big. And i got helpful information to my hobbies/job from all the above forums (and tried to give as well). They all deserve my donation, i simply can't do that. Call me a freebie, no offense taken because i know i'm not. cya. P.S. AllergyDoc you got some guts there. More than i have. Thanks for the opportunity, you know what... Toadtorrent
I can't believe 'Corgi' doesn't like my signature gif. It's hot. Well...now that money is refunded, desired watches and bracelets are on their way...can we get back to just being one big dysfunctional and sometimes happy family? I was going to say Dems, that your signature gif was inappropriate too...but then I realized she was talking about the Speedmaster Pro rep desire...so it's all ok now.
