TwoTone Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Once again it has come to the attention of the Admin Team that members have been scammed... The classic old scam of selling the same Watch to more than one person... So in the moment of my unabridged frustration and anger, I had an epiphany... We need to establish a culture on this forum that whenever you purchase a Watch from a private seller, POST IT IN THE ORIGINAL SALES THREAD... Simple and pure common sense here... Can't believe that we haven't done this all along... When you read this loop, either reply in it or bump it so that it remains in the public view... TT
Migge Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 So simple and so effective.... Thanks TT // Mike
Nanuq Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 TT comes up with the perfect mouse trap. Well done!
mjmj Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Great but simple perfect idea. Thank you for coming up with it.
panerai153 Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Great idea.Should include photos, name of seller, price and date sold.
Cats Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Why not re-introduce the feedback after a sale like we had before. Still you have to solve the issue when a feedback isn't issued after a sale/purchase. Maybe by issuing a sales ticket number which changes it's status after a feedback is issued. Carpe Diem Cats
TwoTone Posted June 18, 2010 Author Report Posted June 18, 2010 Great idea.Should include photos, name of seller, price and date sold. The seller is the one who started the original sales thread... Pictures are now mandatory in the sale... The buyer should post in the thread as soon as the transaction is complete... Why not re-introduce the feedback after a sale like we had before. Still you have to solve the issue when a feedback isn't issued after a sale/purchase. Maybe by issuing a sales ticket number which changes it's status after a feedback is issued. Carpe Diem Cats Two completely different issues cat... The feedback system would not stop this scam from taking place...
Cats Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Agree TT but it shows how reliable a members is. Gives an indication to a potential buyer. If some one wants to scam as person or several persons he will be able to do so. Carpe Diem Cats
Ronin Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Sounds reasonable and logical. Only caveat, is some buyers like to fly under the radar and not 'advertise' their participation in the rep trade... Just a thought... Saving grace is according to your last post, you guys delete them after 90 days. Comes back to buy the seller, not the watch.
JohnCraig Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 As with your other posts under the sales topics, thanks for a job well done!
mastrmindalliance Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Done with my latest strap purchase. A good idea.
Jkay Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 I understand; this is a simple and elegant solution.
yisuspoul Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Simple way of stoping the multiple sale of the same watch. Good idea!!
fakemaster Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 So they are selling the same watch to multiple people and not shipping anything.
TwoTone Posted June 19, 2010 Author Report Posted June 19, 2010 So they are selling the same watch to multiple people and not shipping anything. Correct...
Brightight Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Good thinking, I think you should also post in the sales thread when you have contacted the seller. When I've sold something I've often had two or three PMs in a fairly limited time. I could in theory take money from all three before anything would be posted in the sales thread and only then the would the sh*t hit the fan by which time it would be too late. Unfortunately it is in the nature of scammers and con artists that they will always be ahead of the game. Nonetheless, any tightening up is going to help.
fakemaster Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Well that means there is no actual watch to begin with. Certainly wrong.
OSRep Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Definitely a great idea.........buyer should put "I BOUGHT THIS WATCH" in the sales thread. I know its a pain in the ass, but if Im not familiar with the seller I always ask for a photo of the watch with a current name, date, time tag as well........
