FxrAndy Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 I would say it needs just a touch of age now
Gileto Posted December 13, 2010 Author Report Posted December 13, 2010 I agree, next will age the case and fade the insert...
FxrAndy Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 But dont go to far, I think JMB has a the perfect aging method, he just washes the watch in the cuttings under his lathe, me i just wear mine but wear them hard.
bkwbkw Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 What temp and duration did you put the dial into the oven for? I've messed up (bubbled) a few dials, and want to find a happy medium or benchmark to use as a guide to toasting the dial. did you do anything to the caseback? Looks sweet!

Looks sweet! just put it under a simple 50watt light, I would say around 5cm from it, and it took around 15 minutes... But, have a look each 3 minutes because it's long to begin to toast but when it comes darker it's fast.... Nothing done to the caseback yet... Edited December 13, 2010 by Gileto
Zackb911 Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Did you remove the dial from the movement to bake it or just de-case it?
freddy333 Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Where did you get a datewheel with a long-tail 3 (which I have only ever seen used in the minute subdial of a Newman Daytona)?
Gileto Posted December 13, 2010 Author Report Posted December 13, 2010 Did you remove the dial from the movement to bake it or just de-case it? no, I didn't remove the dial, just removed dial and mvt from the case, and go under halogen...
Gileto Posted December 13, 2010 Author Report Posted December 13, 2010 Where did you get a datewheel with a long-tail 3 (which I have only ever seen used in the minute subdial of a Newman Daytona)? it came with this datewheel, I didn't replace it...
mjmurphy926 Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Nice! I agree that a little aging would look awesome!

krpster Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Looks great so far. The dial aging looks perfect. Where did you get this comex from originally?

Ephry73 Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 Where can one get the correct date wheel for this comex 1665? It would be for an Asian eta 28336-2. E
Rolexaddict Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 You are lucky, your rehaut looks like the gen watch, those from Josh are to high and need to be reduced... but on the nother side, they have the correct silver date wheel
praetor Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 (edited) ^ yea, I had to reduce my rehaut for my 1665 too, using a drill press and a sanding attachment, works like a charm. ugh... so busy Edited July 15, 2011 by praetor
Nanuq Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 That's one of the very few COMEX I have seen with an "O" that's sorta squared off on the inside. Most miss that detail. Very nice indeed!
