Original Scope
Just finished this up. Here are the specs.... Yuki 5514 case Yuki dial and hands Just serviced 1520 movement Highly worked over cartel 93150 bracelet and 580 end links The pics always seem to make the lume yellow but in the flesh it's a great looking old toasty tritium. Let me know what you think.
Ueno
Congrats mate. It looks super great. When did you buy that yuki case? recently?

freddy333
I like the overall look, especially the bracelet. But I am not so sure about the dial (fonts look wrong, especially the comex lettering, which should be serifed & more nearly squarish) Or the case (I wonder if the case may be too thick, like it is more of a Sea-Dweller instead of a Sub, which is what the 5514 is)? Unlike the 2nd gen+ versions of the SD (the 1st SD used a Sub case), the valve in the side of the 5514 (which has a lower profile case) is more nearly vertically centered The 5514 is a really tough bird to get right. praetor
ditto on thick case. Also, get gen hands, which is 99.9% the only good reason why you would ever get a gen movement in the first place.
Dizzy
Looks like he uses a 1665 case for his 5514. Still looks good though. Bezel seems a little thick also. So hard to tell with Yuki stuff, as it seems to change constantly. I like the dial on this one. The dark markers look good. dizz

woof*
I'm curious, I've seen a few of these frankin projects here and some of you are using gen movements I have been watching the bay and haven't seen many, so where are you getting the movements and what kind of price are you paying? praetor
you can get these movements from other donor rolexes, which usually go around $1k

Original Scope
I agree on the Comex lettering. Its hard to find a good Comex dial. I think perhaps my poor photos make the case look thicker than it is. With the thickness of the movement I cannot see how it could be much thinner. Thanks for the help. You gotta love this forum. alligoat
Looks good to me! Maybe a decent pair of 580 end pieces, but other than that, you'd just be spending a lot more money.
Rolexaddict
great job ! I take the permission to add my 2 cents, for me its the case which is to thick, Comex 5514 were built from regular sub 5512/13 case. Personally I would use a thin 5512/13 case and drill myself the HEV hole. anyway, the watch looks very, very good as it is, I love the lume on the dial Edited March 20, 2011 by Rolexaddict

Original Scope
I got a great deal on a 72 Air King. I'm going to use the case on another project......It never ends!
Original Scope
OK, Looking for more feedback guys. I have now soften the case to get it a little thinner and also changed out the bezel to one that sits a little closer to the case. Whatcha think? Mr Clark
Well, it looks great. Did you waterproof it?
Original Scope
I thought about sealing it up at the helium valve but I like having the whole helium valve in the watch. Not sure if it would work or not even in shallow water. Anyone ever tested a Yuki valve?
