Martyd3 Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 My 1655 built on an NDT case and dial, is on its way back from the watchmaker. I hope it will be here tomorrow. I had the 1570 movement serviced, added gen hands, a gen service bezel, gen crystal and gen crown/tube. A gen 78360 is on its way to finish it off Here's how it looked before I sent if off to be serviced (the gen crystal is already installed).
Utheman Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 All right. I can't wait to see the before and after shots next. Nice.
Watchmeister Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Can't wait to see the pics when you get it back. congrats.
Martyd3 Posted November 14, 2011 Author Report Posted November 14, 2011 Thanks Freddy. This is my 50th birthday present from me to me
krpster Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Very nice! Congrats. The before picture above looks awesome already. Can't wait to see the after.
Martyd3 Posted November 14, 2011 Author Report Posted November 14, 2011 The gen hands will make a big difference. Only a nut would buy the service bezel Here's a pic of Yuki hands, next to the gen hands. The difference is subtle, but noticeable. The hour hand is significantly shorter, the lume does not go as far into the tip of the hand and the tip is more blunt on the gen hands.
woof* Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Congrats! Look forward to a pictorial on this one!
rower Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 WOW!!! That is incredible. This one has to be my all time favorite 1655. What a great way to celebrate 50.
vlydog Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 A fitting present for your 50th Marty! Looking forward to your next post.
Martyd3 Posted November 14, 2011 Author Report Posted November 14, 2011 A couple of quick pics. I think it turned out great!
Guest zeleni kukuruz Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Suuuuuure did m8, congrates to this girl
Martyd3 Posted November 14, 2011 Author Report Posted November 14, 2011 The gen hands make the watch. I think the dial is fantastic, now that the hands match. I have not seem many rep frog's foot dials. I saw no reason the drop another $1500 on a gen dial. The service bezel may have been overkill, but I was only doing this once
Cats Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Great looking watch and 1655. That was a nice present you gave yourself for your 50th birthday. Why didn't i came up with that idea a few years ago ?? Wear it well Carpe Diem Cats
redwatch Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Holy crap!!!! That looks absolutely stunning M! Congrats on your grail!!!!
Ronin Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 That looks great, and I have to say I love it on the Jubilee Bracelet. That Bracelet really balances out the very toolish appearance of the 1655.
correctime Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) I'm a huge an of the Explorer II's. That looks great. Congrats on the piece and on 50. Edited November 14, 2011 by correctime
