Almost finished... Updated photos near end of this post. All genuine parts except JMB's Bezel. Dial/Hands came from a collector in New York. NOS Trituim Hands match the dial. praetor
wear it with a strap and let's see the finished product...don't leave us hanging until the new bracelet comes. This looks very good, did you drill the lug holes? I drilled 3 out of 4 holes on my 1600 case, and didn't dare drilling the 4th until I have a proper vise for my drill press . I'm also wondering if you manage to lathe up the case "hump" in the back into a depression for a gasket, whether it's possible or not to use a proper 1016 case back. hm Edited October 8, 2012 by praetor

woof*
any hints on the source for the dial? Dial is awesome, but he does say everything is genuine but Jmb's bezel. Look forward to seeing this one finished.

tomhorn
Dial is awesome, but he does say everything is genuine but Jmb's bezel. Was hoping for a hint at where he found it, as I have been looking for a long time. Other than some insanely expensive gilt dials, I have only seen service dials on VRF from the Italian seller. Ronin
Helpful hint. The following Press Set-Up works great for pressing JMB Bezel / GEN Bezels for 1000/1500/1600 series. The top die is 32mm inside and 4mm deep/hollow.The bottom die is 36mm and fit the 1601 case without case back perfectly. Finally, to make pressing life super easy.Put your mid-case in the freezer.Go boil some water for a cup of tea or coffee.Place Bezel in a cup and pour boiling water over bezel. Let sit about 3 minutes.Grab Case out of Freezer and set in press.Grab Bezel out of hot water.PRESS.... Smooth as butter!
