Pugwash Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 I'm sorry to say, but the Big Bang is done. It's no longer even remotely fashionable, I'm afraid. Lite, super-ceramic, whatever, they're all pass
Toadtorrent Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Hah hah. It's now time for the Defy Extreme...or the Gaytona. What's old is new right?
ubiquitous Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 I thought the Big Bang was old news a long time ago?
LordRasta Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 First give me a moment to let my heartbeat get back to normal..... When I first saw the topic, I thought Pug was leaving us. *whew* You are correct Pug, the Big Bang era is over. I don't have one and never really cared for the watch. Kudos to the members that have it and love it though.
Ztech Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 That's quite unfortunate... Now for the good news. I'm graciously volunteering my collection services. Those of you who still own this passe timepiece can now send them to me and I will make sure to put them to rest.
By-Tor Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Dang, I was just going to buy one of those reps for $1K or so... thanks for telling us Pugs!
Shundi Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 ^ Agreed with Pho...what a shitty company and shitty watch.
cskent69 Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 They are nice watches. But I agree - not a classic watch. They have jumped the shark.
alt.watch.obsessive Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 If only they'd once built 300 watches for the Italian Navy. I know, I know, but I can't resist taking a crack!
Guest carlsbadrolex Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 I will hold on to mine... The gen strap, aftermarket double AR, engraved rotor and BEAUTIFUL rose gold is just too nice to let go. In fact, I will most likely be picking up another this week. SO THERE.
By-Tor Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 I have always liked the rose gold HBB too. It's WAY too much for me, and it's a bit gross... I definitely wouldn't wear it, but I still like it. I guess I'm some kind of weirdo then.
KB Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Noooooooooooooooooooooo you don't mean they're over Do you? Ok then Ken
Crimson Vanguard Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 What the hell is this "big bang"?
poopypants Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 wait wait wait... when was this thing EVER in style???
Corgi Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 The big bang era cannot be over, because there was no such era to begin with. True watch enthusiasts know a gimmick when they see one - and the Hublot Big Bang was just that.
BROM Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 I noticed this the last time I went to Tourneau and their Big Bangs where not there anymore, maybe they will go down in price that will be awesome.
jmt Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 First give me a moment to let my heartbeat get back to normal..... Kudos to the members that have it and love it though. I thought that too and had the same reaction. Whew is right! Was there ever a BB era? I forgot....
jmt Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 I thought that too and had the same reaction. Whew is right! Was there ever a BB era? I forgot.... Wait! Why do I have PhoBand's avitar?
fotoman Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Wait! Why do I have PhoBand's avitar? yeah, what he said!
MisterMister Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 point me to the best AP and we'll follow the leader :D :D
slay Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) "Well don't you see what this means? It's been 22.3 years, so ... AIDS IS FINALLY FUNNY" Edited August 27, 2008 by slay
Watchmeister Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 You can rag all you want about the big bang. But Hublot laughed its way all he way to the bank. Only a few months ago the two principals of Hublot for something approaching $200 million to a major luxury company so someone was buying that watch. I will be curious to see what there next line is now that they are part of a much larger company. And I do like them. Only ever had one which went to another member who wanted it but I will get another someday - rep of course.
Dizzy Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 im still trying to deceide if i want to buy one of these or not.. I just dont think i would wear it...
