This is phenomenal. The macro photos are impressive enough, let alone the watchmaking!

I always love the idea of being able to improve, personalize, and tinker with these watches in a way that few gen owners would dare. That movement is a beaut.

I may have to dust down the old Fiddy in the morning after reading this!

Man... that's awesome work Rob. Speechless.

My fiddy's in pieces right now. Dial wont fit the case. Seeing yours just reminded me how much I miss mine. And that movement....what a looker.

Cheers

The Zigmeister your skill never ceases to amaze me! It must be so rewarding to set yourself a difficult task like this and have the ability to complete it! With work, your own projects like this, and the boards modding.....do you ever sleep!?

Wow, that movement, the macro shots, the results - spectacular.

Man, getting that lathe sure has opened up a lot of horizons RG

Thanks for sharing the journey!

It's all an illusion, that's all...I just tend to post everything at once when I have spare time, reality is very different and much much less work is actually going on that it appears to be...

Thanks for the feedback.

That is the one advantage of reps, you can do most anything and have fun, whereas buying a gen...well it's a done deal as soon as you open the package...

I struggled for a long time on buying a lathe or not, at close to $1K for the lathe alone, then add Levin collets ($100 each) and gravers and diamond sharpening stones and teaching yourself to use it, well it wasn't an easy decision.

But now that I have had the lathe for close to a year, I use it almost daily, and find new uses for it all the time.

That's a good price you paid for the lathe. Although simple in appearance, older jeweler's lathes offer a very high level of precision and hold their tolerances well.

I can't get enough of this type of post... keep 'em coming!

Ah... and that movement fits in like it was made for that watch. Beautiful!

The Zigmeister...that is outstanding work...and so clearly, and beautifully documented and annotated...a real treat to read. I was shaking my head, smiling in marvel the whole way through. Great stuff...and a great final product!!!

Simply amazing!!!!

I have tried some minor "watchmaking" andhave come to the conclusion that it is impossible work.

Your skills are unreal, great to see that there are still people around capable of such fine work.
