  15. I would like to know what you (movement expert) think about the Asian Clone of the Unitas 6497 now in 2024. Is it as durable and precise a movement as the Swiss version? If I have some money to spend, would I be better off buying a Swiss version or could I sleep with peace of mind with a clone about the long term durability/reliability/accuracy. Also, what price should I expect for a Swiss version vs a clone? (both price please, and best place to get both) Waiting for your answers
  16. No, the 16610 has come a long way since Eddie Lee. What Eddie sold looked good but wasn't gen like construction. Since the early 2010s gen like construction came around and things got better. Watchmaker 9 started some of this, MBW and TW Best also followed suite. TC had some very nice 16610s and since then JKF, ARF and RAF have followed up. Now days you can buy nice 16610 rep cases from China via AliExpress. And of course the VR3135 and VS3135 rep movements are available. My last build was a TC case, a JKF dial and hands, a noobmariner 93250 bracelet and a VR3135 movement. I think the insert was a flat 4 rep insert with a watchmaterial.com pearl. I first tried a SH3135 movement but that was a $250 mistake with service and I have been happy with the VR3135 since then.

  18. Copy that. I’ll start there. Stem should be in the time setting position when removing correct?
  19. If you can decase the movement, simply blow on the hand & see if it spins. If it does, then the hand's joint is weak/loose. If it remains in position, then there may be a wheel missing teeth or severely misaligned with an adjoining wheel. Good luck.
  20. Did theses Eddie Lee 16610 are still considered the best ones on the Market ?
  21. Thanks for the reply sir. I’m going to tinker with it later today after work.
