  3. In an effort to liven up the forum and to encourage member participation and interaction, we have decided to open up the sales forum for non-VIP sellers as well. I believe that the boss@Admin has already mentioned this. While we believe this to be a positive step ahead for the community and forum, we have also given due consideration to the VIP members and to be fair to everyone, we have implemented a few simple stipulations for the non-VIP sellers 1. All non-VIP sales are limited to the value of USD199. This means that if you wish to list a watch for $200 and above, you need a VIP member status to do so. All disqualified sales listing in this regard would be nuked without warning. 2. All non-VIP sellers can only list the sales prices in USD, not Euro, GBP or any other currency. 3. Any non-VIP seller can be no-saled at RWG crew discretion, for inappropriate behavior or blatant disregard of the simple rules listed. 4. Remember that selling is a privilege. And above all, caveat emptor always. Good luck to everyone and remember to play safe at all times! @mike on a bike,@nanuq,@nikki6,@kb,@panerai153,@astonjenks,@denimhead,@stephane. 4. "Yeah but aren't there pretty good cases that can be modified into a pretty good 5513? I thought MBW cases and even the new cartels were pretty good except for the crown guards and some other finishing details. 1675 cases are all way to thick and that's something that's not easily fixed." I say the best way (low $$) is to use what is available and forget about trying to have cases made. If you are not versed in the ins and outs of case making, the learning curve may be very steep and expensive. Case and case back threads are not easy at all to cut for example and someone who is a whiz at cnc machining/shaping a case may be lost when it comes to cutting threads. Mirror polishing case sides and bevels on lugs are probably also not in the cnc machinist bailiwick. These cases look simple but they are not. A $50 replica submariner case may be the product of a $5 million operation that makes cases for swiss oem, mushroom brands, contract watches etc as well as replicas. The steel replica submariner cases that were used in some $75 replicas that I have are stamped 'E. Gluck' inside the case and E. Gluck is a HUGE outfit. Take my word for it. Or not. http://egluck.com/ Otoh, if someone wants 1000 cases, fly to Guangzhou and shop around for a connection to have them made...pay your $$...and take your chances. I have a friend who used to have private brand watches made so I know what I am talking about. More or less. Imho what members should be looking for are: 1...An affordable case that is close to begin with. 2...Someone who can detail the case, drill lug holes, machine a proper case tube seat etc at a reasonable cost. 3...Someone who can engrave letters/numbers that are accurate to oem. I hate to be a downer but above all...I am a realist. Sorta.

  6. Either one is a fine dealer. Movement decoration should matter less to you since it is a solid caseback. This v7, I believe, is the best version. Your only upgrade might be a Legend date wheel and a Tissot Powermatic movement swap to 21,600 bpm.

  7. You're right about Rolex not telling, but my gut feeling is that the Datejust is the biggest seller maybe followed by the Submariner. Day Dates, Daytonas and maybe YMs follow. If you look at ebay and count how many of each model are for sale at any given time, maybe that would be an accurate indication of just what Rolex is producing.

  13. I think not quite the same. I know there is half a millimetre indifference in the dial diameter. I don't know if there is any major shape difference. Maybe it would be possible to have a 5513 scanned and do a separate file with the half millimetre for 1680? Got to pick one for a start. In time I hope to see a selection of decent cases. Maybe other brands might like to play too in the long term. This could be a watershed, if we need a subscription I'm in whatever case is modelled.
