  2. I've run out of 'likes' for the day, but that is so true. Courtesy is courtesy, regardless of who it is extended to and by

  3. Please excuse me for my strong language but I'm getting a little bit fed up with all the noobs lately. No, not because they are new and ask questions... Because they show NO courtesy. Off course I don't want to treat all noobs alike but l get the feeling it is getting worse. I (or other existing members) type, a sometimes extensive reply or explanation and not even a 'thanks' or 'thank you' will follow. Nothing..... The noob just asks questions like a mad man, want to gather all the info yesterday, wants to buy a rep like he is at WalMart, complains and bitches about the smallest details, asks mechanical help when in most cases he himself messes up a movement etc. without even the smallest regard for this board and it's members. And sometimes.... From all these noobs a valuable new member will arise who's soul purpose is not to leech this board and all it's members for what they know and have. I have seen some valuable new members the last months like MD2020 for instance and for that I applaud! And for all you other blood sucking noobs: think about the existing members that reply to you post. Without some courtesy and good manners you probably won't get any help next time you are in need.....

  5. My view is the same as some of the guys have already said, we get a fair mix of people on here, some of them will not have the slightest thought to say thanks for something you have shared or indeed done for them, but tbh I'm pretty used to that bringing up 2 teenagers at the moment what I don't like to see is when a noob (much like myself) comes on and asks a question that is easy to find on the boards, then if they haven't had an answer within an hr or so they start posting smart arse comments like 'supposed to be the friendliest forum on the net, no help to me' Note to Noobs with questions.......we will all do our best to help but we do sleep ya know read, read, read and a bit of patience is all you need to get along in the forum, that and the common courtesy of saying a polite 'Thank you' when someone goes out of their way to help you.......my 2c Oh and another thing too..............................Thank you to all the people that have helped me in the past, you know who you are and that's the 2nd time !

  7. Since a year i am fully into rollies. One day for those who don't have the rollie passion...trust me one morning you wake up and want one. My all time favorite is the hulk but the black LN version i started to like more and more. I bought it from Andrew (trustytime) as usual. Rocket fast replies and good QC. Keep up the good work! Sofar the noob was the best to get but imo the BP factory beat them till date. The pearl is pretty less perfect and the case is finally same as per gen regarding lugs and crownguard. Also the rehaut ain't wokky anymore and the bezelinsert is well made, deep numeral engravings. To me the most important issue was the lack of AR on the cyclops. This version has it. Maybe not that strong as per gen but for me good enough. So i will not swap crystal...actually this one doesn't need any modding if you ask me. Many guys up here are suckers for Lume. This version has very strong lume. Also i noticed the divers extension works flawless instead of sliding out when wearing as my noob constanly does. Let's get on to the pictures, hope you guys enjoy them.

  8. Hi vlydog, From what Ubi told me: MBW case with the HEV drilled in. Gen flat 4 bezel with gen pearl Gen 703 crown and tube Dial is a custom dial that Ubi had done. Unfortunately it has flaked at the bottom. Darn those "vintage" dials 2846 movement Hands and dial relumed by The Zigmeister I added a Rep folded bracelet with the wrong kind of end links: 580 from WSO and added a fold over clasp from another rep.

  12. I have experienced the same ill manners from noobs more times than I care to mention and yes it does grind you when there is no acknowledgement let alone any courtesy... indeed you can see that lack of courtesy in the initial PM and you know there and then that this guy is one of those described above....but regardless I still reply..in the hope that maybe I am wrong but mainly because they maybe like that but I aint so i aint going down to that level... BUT..... I have also experienced the same discourtesy from the more senior members on the forums..one of them was even a mod on another forum!! With him I sent some very long emails with diagrams and photos with annotations etc and ..after that ..not a word not a nothing!! And to add insult to injury using my advice he had gone ahead and then posted about all about the research he had done and used all my info to beef up his thread and then took the positive comments.... I dont care if he doesnt acknowledge his sources or that he only achieved what he did on the back of others..that never bothers me but all I would ask is a simple thank you just something to acknowledge the time and effort I put into giving him the best answers I could... So although I agree with the OPs initial comments I dont agree we are just talking about noobs.... I have dealt with a few noobs who have been great in their quest for info and advice.. and just as many ignorant 'senior' members as noobs...and its been like that for a few years not just recently...

  13. Really???? Can you please let me know how the members that are online 24/7 can spot spammers like this? Do you think it is an easy task? We use ALL tools available in an attempt to spot members who create duplicate accounts or members that have been banned. Unfortunately, there currently are no tools that are 100% reliable and a members with the technical knowledge might be able to figure out out methods. So some times, the only way we know about these things is when members report these things to us or post about it.

  16. +1 here. Use the phone to TALK and hear a voice. Then set up a meeting, like in the good old times, and shake hands! The world today is making humans looking more and more like aliens. All is virtual. One of these days, s e x and love will lead to virtual babies...and then we will be erased from the planet!

  17. Hi all, A newbie here and (at least I hope), a polite and educated person. I agree 100% with all the things that have been contributed so far in the thread. I nonetheless would like to point out that as a newbie in your wonderful forum I myself have been experiencing arrogance and ignorance only, it did not come from another "noob". This is to say that in my (humble) opinion we basically all are nice and kind but there are good days and bad days for everyone. It takes a *lot* of strenght to go through anything and everything and still find the will to smile.

  18. I agree!! Do your homework and all will be answered. AFA the comparison, it certainly depends on who you ask. there are quite a lot of us on the forum that are not particularly enthralled with the newer Rolex sport models. I find them very clunky, top heavy and not nearly as aesthetically appealing as the older models. Of course to the real vintage purist, the 16610 is a travesty, mainly because it has a sapphire crystal rather than the old acrylic. I have a genuine "P" serial 16610, and in actuality, it gets much less wrist time than my 1680 and 1665 Franken reps.

  19. Likewise, I don't mind answering questions or helping others where I can, but when someone sends a message asking something, and hasn't even got the common courtesy to follow up a reply with a quick "thanks", yeah, it's pretty weak...

  20. Like I've said for many years now - "Where People Gather, Life Happens"... Our community here is no different than real life... The work place, the local hang out, heck - even the local church... We've raised a generation of folks that live in a mind set of entitlement... And that mind set is right here in our home... Me, personally, I ignore those that have that attitude... Not worth my time... The good news is that our community has tons of quality peeps to make up the difference... That's why we keep coming back TT

  23. Unfortunately, this is and endless cyclic argument. it's like arguing religion, no matter what you say, no matter what statistics you quote, you are NOT going to convince the other side that they are wrong and you are correct. I respect the opinion of everyone here, but you folks from Australia and other parts of the world, as well as all of you from here in the states are not going to convince this old man that living in a gun free society is going to suddenly create some super safe utopian society. It would be great if it did, but It isn't going to happen. I have read too much history, and have seen first hand over my almost 7 decades on this spinning orb what happens when citizens give up their arms. It isn't pretty. While I am an advocate of gun owners rights, I do not see any reason for anyone except the military to posess fully automatic weapons. Sort of like having hand grenades, rocket launchers and shoulder fired missles, they don't have a place in anyones personal weapons collection.
