  1. Hmmm. No 1675 GMT dial ever had the "flat S", in MASTER and the SCOC font is off too. It's a dead giveaway on these dials
  2. Interesting. The two sets of 55 links I have don't have any loops at all.
  3. Your other option would be to find a pair of 50 endlinks (correct for the 1675) or 55 end links. Neither of these ends have loops
  4. On a similar note, wasn't there a big controversy not long ago involving the outsourced supplier of gold Daytona cases? They made more cases than they gave to Rolex and sold them. Because they actually where to the same specs and all they're indistinguishable, so now Rolex only makes in-house cases? Someone refresh me.
  5. Well I can honestly say "yes". When I call my times in or log it and glance down at my watch, I look at the GMT and Minute hand. Much easier for a simpleton like me than going "11pm plus . . where are we. . .5 hours. . .so that's - oh wait, no. . .0400? yeah" In my head. And, BTW, I have my 1675 with a DG3804 set up like a true 1675. My GMT hand is "fixed" and I rotate my bezel for the timezone.
  6. Back side of the crown guards. . .way off
  7. FWIW, I just received an Ingod Daytona dial and the lume is terrible. Application - consistency - placement - size. . .all really suck
  8. Dude - seriously? With where you work, you can't work out drilling these yourself? I've got bits. . .and can be there in a flash. . .just saying. . .
  9. Good call. The long E dial is so good on the latest version that I thought it was gen the first time I saw it. I've got a gen long E and their dang near identical.
  10. The Yuki dial is the same dimension as the gen. Having the correct movement holder ring will help solve the centering issues.
  11. Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm aware that these used to go for that kind of money. I've seen some where they have the original receipt from when the original G.I. owner bought it at the PX somewhere in Southeast Asia for around $175-200. Still blows my mind, though. And yes - a little devil appeared on my shoulder and whispered bad things in my ear at that moment too. Integrity always prevails, however. Glad you all enjoyed it.
  12. So today I was at Home Depot. I am replacing a window sill and I had to get some wood cut to size. The gentleman that came over to help me was, shall we say, somewhat "seasoned" in his years, very helpful and very pleasant. He remarked on how he thought it was great a "young guy" like me (I'm 46) would tackle a job like replacing a window sill "everyone these days just wants to replace everything. . .nobody fixes things anymore". As he set up for the cut with the table saw, I noticed something very familiar on his wrist. "That's quite a prize you've got there" I said pointing at his arm. He looked at the bruise mid forearm and said "yeah. I got that restocking. . .you bruise easily when you get old like me". . I said "no-no, your 1680" "my what?" "your WATCH". He glanced at his wrist and smiled a wry smile "yeah, nobody around here can believe I wear a Rolex to work around here" And he looked at my wrist, which was sporting my franken 5512 on Nato. "Neither can I", I said, "you really shouldn't be wearing that around here". He then tell me that he bought it off a friend "years ago". He was always asking his friend "hey Bill, when are you gonna sell me your Rolex?" Then he says one day Bill came to him and asked if he would still buy the watch "you see, Bill had taken his girlfriend on a little vacation and didn't want his wife to find out, so he needed $400 bucks quick to put back in the bank". "You paid $400 for that?" "Yeah, but then I didn't wear it for a long time. I stuck it in my drawer. A while ago, my other watch finally kicked. I was going to buy another watch but then remembered this (looking at his wrist) and whatdoyaknow, a gave it a few winds and she's been working fine ever since". "May I see it?" Sure, he says and slides it off his wrist. It's nearly pristine. A 1680, meters first, red dial, silver date wheel, Top Hat 127 all original fantastic patina. . . I've got a semi going. . .o.k. fine, I came in my pants a little. He then proceeds to tell me when his old watch died he was originally thinking of selling it "you know, get something new. Something better", but that something made him decide to keep it. I told him I was glad he did, but that he should still get a different watch to wear to work. "Yeah, you're probably right, people probably think I make too much money wearing a $400 watch, ha ha" "ummmmm. That's worth a LOT more than $400. . ." "yeah, I guess it's an antique these days, huh? I suppose it could be worth a little more than that now" "Try 15 times more" silence. "ah. . .you're putting an old man on, now. . ." I borrow a passer-by's iPad, log onto VRF and show him. He actually cried.
  13. @ woof - winding position. @db2 - Glad to see you got it fixed. Just out of curiosity, did you try to push the stem back in when it came out originally? I have an ETA 2824 from a Solvil and Titus in one of my watches, and every so often when I pull out the stem to set the time it just pulls right out of the watch. I carefully re-insert it all the way back in (to the winding position) and I can feel it "catch" again and voila'! It works just fine again and in the time setting position feels tight and snug no matter how hard I pull on it. It's weird, but . . .
  14. What mymanmatt means is that in side-by-side comparison width/dimension/length/etc. Clarks are identical. They are listed as Tudor hands and Tudor's use ETA's. So yes, the Clarks are identical and yes they fit ETA's (perfectly I may add).
  15. Another fantastic build. I'm always a bit surprised that we shy away from logo dials and such, they make for unique and interesting pieces (And I always have to giggle at the Domino's pizza dials - my Dad worked for 3M for 45 years. They gave him a gold Hamilton Thin-O-Matic as a 25 year service anniversary piece. I inherited it when he died and love wearing it today, but geez Dad, if you had at least worked for Domino's I could have inherited a Rolex instead! )
  16. No, no surprise there either. The rep crystal I haven't touched yet even has scratches on the side were the bezel was pressed on. Haven't invested in a new one yet, though either. Perhaps a Clarks to play with first. $12 isn't much for guinea pigging. The sub@6 mod is on the plate. @ Ephry that's pretty nice. I'll have to ref that on ofrei.
  17. I agree with a lot of what has been written here. I think another part of it is the "WOW, I can't believe he sold his for THAT! Hmmmm, mine's similar, I wonder if I. . ." Particularly when it's the hot watch du jour. Admittedly, I fell prey to this recently. I've built numerous franken datejusts using all gen parts but the movement and hands, both for myself as well as other fora members. A member on another forum sold one last Novemeber for nearly $1000, then recently one that didn't even have a gen bracelet (or even clasp on it) sold for $800 in MINUTES. I jumped on that wagon to get funds for a current build. I too probably would have done better parting it out. Greed? I might be guilty. Opportunistic? Guilty as charged.
  18. Thanks again guys. @LHOOQ, the base is a cartel 6263 - the alleged 1:1 with a V75 movement. Which so far required me to re-tap the case and countersink for the gen tube and crown. . . We'll see about the T-21 next.
  19. Are Clarks the way to go? They look identical to the DW pushers to my eyes and pretty close to gen pushers from certain years. Am I missing others?
  20. Thanks you guys - isn't that just the thing in this hobby? A $42 tool to replace $35 pushers that I'll use precisely once.
  21. I've noticed the bases of the pushers have a knurled edge - like they were meant to be grasped by a specialty tool for removal/installation. I've searched, but haven't found such a thing. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd like to replace them with a pair of Clark's. Thanks in advance.
  22. Simple answer is no. And having the date centered is a matter of having the DWO properly aligned over the datewheel. Slow drying white glue, and trial and error patience is all it takes.
  23. Removing the middle click involves filing the center ridge out of the setting lever jumper (part 445/2). Takes a bit of patience and finesse, but with jewelers files, a loupe, and a steady hand, it can be done easily,
  24. You've just never had the pleasure of wearing one all day. I don't know why so many people are against jubilee's. They're the most comfortable bracelet to wear out there.
  25. Now if you want it really gen-like, you need to sync up the GMT hand. The 1675's didn't have an independent hour hand Looks good though! Very surprised the rep caseback fit.
