  1. Yeah I hear you! I was about to get a Breit. Skyland with a busted movement for a song when I found out from the seller that some HACK got it!
  2. To some scammers yes! Maybe 6-7 months ago there was a lot of 40-50 Breitling Warranty books on eBay. The auction went through the roof, before eBay shut it down. If someone would have purchased them with ill intentions, they could have really done some damage pawning reps off as gens to the unsuspecting person who thinks "Well all the paperwork is there, must be real." Gen Books, wallets, hang tags, etc. are always sought after by rep. and gen. owners alike.
  3. Nice! Love the Bentley GMT. Do you swap betwen the bracelet and strap a lot? The rubber strap adds some nice contrast to the GMT I feel. I know my wife has the black face around the house some where for me.....Is it Dec. 25th yet?
  4. I find I go through phases. One week the rep. Pams are on my wrist. The following week all I wear are my Gen Breitlings. Some times weeks go by before I wear a gen. Also, whenever I get a new toy, I tend to wear the crap out of it until I get board, usually after 4-5 days.
  5. It is right up there with Chemtrails and Scalar Weapons for me!
  6. This is a Breitling 820. Movement is a Val. 7736. I have seen them go from $1100-$1300. Send it to Breitling for service as it will come back to you looking like the day it was made! Great piece! Although I hate gold, I love vintage B's!
  7. Pam 250 looks quartz. 7753 movement has secs @ 9. HBB Strap is rubber.
  8. 100% goes for me as well. Reps are a great way for me to test drive a piece before I buy it. I appreciate the Gen even more knowing I made the right purchase. As By-Tor and Lani put it, the Gen forums in my mind suck! Look around here at the level of talent! We have guys that can re-lume dials, AR coat crystals and come up with some out of the box ideas to bring the reps 99%+ to within the Gens. Read Francisco’s & The Zigmeister’s threads, and then go find watch makers that think like they do and perform some of the mods as they do. I bet you will not find them hanging out on any of the Gen forums. I am a engineer, I have engineers that work for me...they are all by the text book, same stuff day in and day out. Never willing to take risks or think “How can I”. If it is not in the book, they are screwed! The Zigmeister, Francisco and several other members are the outside the box thinkers that bring a whole new level to this hobby and make it even more amazing! Even better yet, they are willing to share their knowledge with us. Look at some of Chifs AR jobs! Some of them on the Rep Breiltings lately are better then the Gens! Just think about what it takes to get there and how to get there with a Rep.how do you not Ooooh and Ahhhhh??? ......stepping off my soapbox.
  9. Followed up by The Zigmeister's review of what was done to a A7750 to get all of the complications.
  10. Sorry missed the part about your friend wanting to sell his.... I have seen them at various AD's and eBay sell for $900-$1300 depending on the movement and style. The later versions with the Super Quartz movement tend to get more as they are much more accurate. If you post it here for sale, PM me as I have a friend that might be interested.
  11. Great piece! Congrats! Get a Pro-diver strap for it, really does well on this watch. Nice to see other memebers getting early X-Mas presents! You can get them new for between $2500-$2700 on the grey market.
  12. The first gen I saw had white hands and white in the dial, both C1. Unless Panerai is using the BW9, which is white like C1 but glows much brighter. Breitling uses this for their white lume. The second gen I saw had white hands and more of a green dial. More green like C5 as C3 is yellow. I think it has been discussed around here that Panerai adjust their lume color from time to time during series changes.
  13. Also check the concentricity (Spring coils remain parallel or round to one another) of the spring. The could have caused them to touch. Some time you may have to tweak it to get it back to round.
  14. Correct, but that are minor changes with the variants form time to time. For example, movements that have engraved plates with "Panerai" vs. decorative. In the case of some the chrono's "Tachymeter" or Tachymetre", this was changed mid-year on F-Series Pam188's.
  15. Thanks! Can't bring myself to take it off. More pics here. Linky
  16. Neither did I. Works well with a white dress shirt and royal blue tie!
  17. Beautiful! Can't go wrong with a SOSF or any Breitling for that matter.
  18. Nope, not with the Big date @ 12. I think it is also a quartz movement. But when it does......if it ever does become a accurate Rep....guessing maybe not as the movement complication.....I will be the first in line to get one. I have been drooling over this piece since I strapped it on at my AD. Just awesome. Over priced for a ETA based none COSC movement.
