Another part arrives for the 5513
highoeyazmuhudee replied to lionsandtigers's topic in The Rolex Area
looking good -
my guess was phong case, heres why: bezel teeth are very characteristic of phong, sharp and deep, better than most reps but still not quite there, an unusual shape (angle) to them, plus the top part of the side bezel is always polished, this one is not, even if "Aged" it would should signs of wear from finger acid and would always be polished. also the rehaut depth is actually quite shallow on gen dwellers, all rep cases ive seen have it too deep ive also noticed more often than not gen 1665s dont have lug beveling unlike their little brother the 5513. these are my observations which lead me to believe it was a phong case. GEN still a wonderful build and a very nice watch

that price has certainly gone up. especially since he retails them for $265 at the counter. at over $450 you need to replace the movement with a slow beat +$100 and you get a fake non functioning HE valve $100+ upgrade if you want it, +lug holes need doing +$40. and the crown height will never be correct no matter what you do the bracelet is not great either, even that needs mods to fit 2mm bars it adds up real fast, and at this new price its 'good value' becomes questionable. if youre serious about wanting a grail-dweller you might as well start with a more accurate case -

i received a few preliminary cases it appears the insert is still too tight by 1/10th of a mm. the crown guards seem a little thicker on this batch as well and the rehaut is more shallow. attempts seem inconsistent, and when some other problems are fixed a few other things might be a bit off. im not sure what to think about this, they seem to be having a hard time comprehending the whole fitment of the insert correctly despite me having sent them genuine parts to work with. im having some cad drawings redone currently, but being finished by hand there is some variation int heir manufacturing i might have to start selling some of these before i dig my self deeper, as is- currently these cases need inner crown guard trim (outter is fine better thank mbk) and inserts will have to be slightly sanded. all other gen parts fit, better than mbk crown height, working he valve and nicely engraved case back (better than yukis, mbk) correct serial #4089 range and "5513" engraved caseback with 5514 between lugs , like the original what do you guys think at this point, what should i do with this frustrating venture? please no pms about purchasing yet PICS: shown with gen crown and my 5513 eta dial -
never had that problem. use a crystal press it will 'snap' on with a satisfying sound

liking it

you mean the retaining ring is too tight to fit down completely? sand the inner diameter of the ring, about 10 rotations with 400grit should get it and still keep it water tight
-
i think yukis meters first dial is a bit more accurate

3M double sided scrap booking tape OR GS Hypo cement i prefer tape as the cement gets stringy

forget the yuki hands. theyre the incorrect thickeness to the point of being obvious as not original. the second hand is also the incorrect length. TC hands are your best bet yukis second hand is the most inaccurate of the set Clarks -GEN - Yuki

Where to get a crystal retaining ring for 16610

forget WSO. dont waste your time there their assembly lets in moisture. whats your budget? -
these ones look worse. horrible in fact. look how thick that crystal and bezel ring is, this is a cross between an SD and a sub. not worth the $180
-
not bad. but do the pearl as well
-
nice build curious about that insert. dont care for the yuki hands though

love that last pic, very nice and a nice change from SS -
thats the way they come from MBK, no gasket, why? its a different size (smaller) gasket than the caseback one, less common i guess

UPDATE for you guys since youre asking: no newsworthy progress money transfer to manufacturer sorted, i assume the gestapo have not gotten them received the version 2 case, it looks like no progress was even made on it , in fact i'd say it actually turned out worst. contacted the manufacturer they apologized said they would fix it, its been about a week havnt heard anything further, not sure if im being naive in hoping for something improved on or not. heres to hoping they didnt take my money and disappear into the night this is quite disappointing i really wanted to have this available to you guys a LONG time ago, i wanted this to be enjoyed since OCT, its now mid DEC and was hoping with this latest version2 it could at least make it for christmas, that would have been a pleasant gift. once i can finally get in touch with the manufacturer i can learn the status of attempt 3 and hopefully its positive. you guys will know, when i know. i can foresee holidays slowing things up as well. i am really sorry for the delays, i am as eager as you guys for this. several small things seem to creep up and try and derail this project. -
