  1. Finding that movement for sale outside of buying another entire watch will likely be difficult. I'm not aware of them being available directly. You can always check with one of our trusted dealers to see if they can source the movement. You might also want to check on getting someone to look at it and see if it can be serviced. Either that, or you could buy a stock movement and have someone move the conversion parts over from your old movement. Either way, it's going to get serviced, so I'd send it to someone to see what they say.
  2. Interesting read. The declaration that everything was verbal is going to put things into a he said/she said situation, but Maron previously taking back a watch and refunding under similar circumstances will definitely hurt his defense. I still think it gets settled after Maron's deposition, as neither side is going to want the full details to get out.
  3. Actually we are talking about a fraud/theft case in excess of $20k which extends across State lines and involves the Postal Service. And that's just our stuff. No telling who else he has scammed. Couple that with some of his other alleged issues, plus him possibly fleeing the State where he lives to avoid arrest/questioning, and this thing could be much larger than any of us know.
  4. The 5500 was also an Air King case. Definitely 34mm.
  5. The Railmaster XL would be a nice compromise while you wait. IIR, it's a 42mm, or the XXL is 49mm.
  6. Just did some digging, Have my Rolex case sets confused. There was an earlier post about a build using a 1601 case that used the raffles-time #1. Whoopy built a pair of Explorers using the 5500 case. I think asking him to confirm what he used would be the ticket to the best answer. Here's the sales post: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/168422-fs-twin-genstein-1016-vintage-rolex-explorers/ Unfortunately he didn't list the movement ring information.
  7. I used the #2 in my DateJust build, but that was a 16014 case not a 5500 (which is smaller, 36mm vs 34mm). The movement diameters would be the same, but I'm not sure of the interior case diameter. Hopefully Whoopy will stop by and confirm, or the OP could PM him. On the Sub side KBH, I suppose it would depend on the specific case. Have you tried TC's? Again, not sure of the interior dimensions but some people have posted using them on non TC cased builds.
  8. I believe Whoopy used a Raffles-time #1 in his 5500 builds. He has a couple of threads posted on them. Might want to check them out to be sure. http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_sop=15&_ssn=raffles-time&rt=nc
  9. That specific model hasn't been released yet, so if you are set on having one you'll have to wait a while for it to come out. Shouldn't be too hard to rep, so I would expect to see one at some point. If you want to stay with Omega and in that size range, the Seamaster Liquid Metal reps are excellent. A bit more sporty and less dressy that the Aqua Terra, but an excellent rep.
  10. It won't be as tough if Maron told him they were gen watches, or provided some documentation to indicate it. If they were sold to him as genuine, then Mayer will win. My guess is that he doesn't file the lawsuit unless he has something to back up they were supposed to be gen. Could be in the sales documents, or email. Could be in a contract between the two that Maron would only buy gen watches. If it was relayed over the phone, then unless he recorded the calls he will have an issue. Doesn't matter if he told the world he was OK buying fake ones. There's an easy explanation for that. He didn't want to wear a totally gen piece on the road when he was touring, and wanted something that could get beat up. The only thing that matters is what he was told prior to purchase about the watches in question. It also doesn't matter if Maron's lawyer wants to portray him as a sophisticated watch collector that "should have known what he was buying". The only thing that matters is was he told they were genuine prior to purchase. The odds of his attorney filing something without having at least a small shred of evidence they were sold to Mayer as genuine is very low. Keep in mind he wasn't questioning all of the watches Maron sold to him, just a few of them. The only way the defense might be able to mitigate that is if the watches were sold at a price that is so far below market value that Mayer should have suspected they were not 100% genuine. There's a great 6263 for sale right now on the boards for $1,900. If Meyer paid that for one of the watches in question, then he won't have much of a leg to stand on of course. My guess is this gets settled before trial, and shortly after Maron is deposed by Mayer's attorney. Either they'll have something they produce at the deposition that makes Maron settle, or Mayer's attorney will tell him he can't win based on what comes out in the deposition.
  11. I'm sorry, but if I was spending that kind of money on a watch, you can be sure it would be signed off on by Rolex as being gen before I bought it, not just some third-party dealer arranging the sale. If Mayer didn't do that then he's a moron. Still doesn't deserve to get screwed on the deal, but it's not like we are talking about run of the mill modern Subs or DateJusts.
  12. You need to stop letting the bears play with your watches ...
  13. It's a victim of my 2846 which is with the missing modder ...
  14. I am really close to having the 5514 parts search completed as well. Probably won't know what to do with myself after that ...
  15. The dial doesn't come lumed from Whoopy, so it will be lumed with an 'aged' look. Hands will be redone to match as well.
  16. I bought both the 455b and 580 endlinks from WSO. I'm sending both to see which pair will fit better.
  17. Resurrecting an old thread ... At long last, I finally have all the parts for the 1016 build ... off it goes to PBdad ... Gen 16014 case, crown, tube Gen Tropic 22 crystal ETA 2846 in the donor watch JMB Custom bezel Whoopy 1016 Dial Mary's 7836 bracelet WSO endlinks "Aussie" springbars TC hands Rafflestime #2 spacer
  18. I have it's twin from another mother ... well in this case father, PBdad did mine ... DateJusts and DayDates are great franken projects ... especially for first-time franken attempts. Although some of the parts prices have gone up, they are still affordable, and available enough that you can put something together fairly easily.
  19. This is the same guy that I called out for starting multiple threads about modding his TC Sub. I made the mistake of trying to help initially ... finally gave up when he PM'd me a question that I had already answered several times. Glad I gave up when I did, your PM exchange confirmed my gut feeling about him.
  20. Who has the best Sub ... Panerai edition. You're going to have to narrow it down. There are many good PAMs out there. What are you looking for? The 297 is a GMT. Is that what you want, or are you looking for a base, chronograph, Submersible, white dial, black dial. what? Do some searching in the Panerai section. You will find all you need to know about what's available. Then, once you have a specific question about a particular model, ask for help.
  21. Being able to sell them will all depend on price, and better pictures. There is another sales post out there with two dials at 130 Euros (IIRC) that haven't sold, if that helps you price them. The black and silver dials would probably sell easiest, depending on condition of course.
  22. There are always people working on DJ builds. If you're selling, put up an ad, don't stoop to backdoor sales.
  23. Well let's see .... first you asked about the bracelet in your thread here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/166878-got-my-tc-sub-v6/ Then you started another thread about the bracelet here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/167508-tc-bracelet-v3/ And now this thread. So that's at least three. I actually think there is one more, because I remember being the one to mention that using the v3 links with the v4 clasp was the best way to go and that post is not in the two above. People wonder why noobs sometimes get a hard time when asking questions. This is why. I just thoroughly read the v5 post from TC himself. If you can't find a v3 bracelet, then I would buy the v5 and swap the v4 clasp. It's as good as you are going to do. Here's the thing ... in this thread, just like the v3 thread you started earlier (if anyone bothers to respond to this one) you are going to get the same thing ... a bunch of different opinions. You aren't going to get clarity on something that has no clarity. If you are going to nit-pick your rep to death then you should just buy a gen and save yourself the headaches.
  24. There was an old thread on this someplace that inferred that Yuki made two versions of the dial and you had to specify which one. If you haven't already, you might want to ask. Looks like NDtrading has one also. Price is a bit steep though. http://ndtradingcorp.com/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=470
