  1. Known problems: The pins on the back of the dial are to long, should I remove them and how do I attach the dial to the movement? I would guess the pins are ok,,,looks like you have a seconds pinion (fourth wheel, I believe) at 9 that needs to be shortend. I remember asking The Zigmeister how to do this,,,pretty much use tape the cover the whole movement, stick the pin so it is showing, then file it down using something like a Dremel. However, you can check this, put the dial on the movement and look under to see if it is resting on on something sticking out at 9 o'clock. What is the best way to clean the case and crystal before assembly? use air,,,there is a tool (forgot the name) that will blow air onto the case to remove most of the small stuff. Should I wear gloves during assembly? I use finger rubbers...not sure what the technical name is...lol. How far to I turn the screw to remove the crown and are the tips and trick to messuring the correct lenght of the crown stem? about one and a half turns, try one,,then pull and see, if nothing try one and a half. The stem is kind of similar,,go slow and start off with it too long,,,put it together, if it's too long, file down a bit. This can be pretty slow. also,,you might want to check,,is that a 47mm case? that dial might be too small for it. See if the dial fits? Good luck,,these can be fun projects.
  2. Lol...kids are always the link to the unpredictable...
  3. I agree about the 45 PO,,,,,,not sure why but it doesn't fit well on the wrist. As far as wrist size,,,I wish I had a normal sized wrist,,,,finding xl straps is very hard and almost alway more expensive.
  4. could be it,,,,the same type of thing I can imagine happening at the Heritage club......maybe they just are not current with 80's movies... "Fifty bucks? No, no, no. This is a Rouchefoucauld. The thinnest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland, and water resistant to three atmospheres. This is *the* sports watch of the '80s. Six thousand, nine hundred and fifty five dollars retail! "
  5. I have no idea why it would bring anyone "happiness" to see this.....(in reference to post on other forum). This would be the equal to arresting some small time local drug dealer and thinking you made progress on the "war against drugs". Of course,,,I still can't figure out why some people get some emotional over replicas to the point they are actually happy when they see something like this,,,,strange.
  6. On the other hand, it would be interesting to know how often the funds from counterfeits go to those dealing with the very basics necessities like food and shelter, that group didn't seem to be dealing with life
  7. seems like it would work, but not sure if it would put too much pressure on the crystal and turn it independent of the case back or perhaps even break the crystal.
  8. round one takes the back off,,,the other blows air to get all the little (and not so little) pieces out of the case before you put it together....
  9. This looks a lot like my watch table.............seriously.
  10. Great pictures,,,I need a better camera,,I could never take such close shots.
  11. had to share my latest from Tourby,,,,,,looks a lot like yours Bazz,,,nice choice
  12. Here are a few pictures,,,all look better in person. As much as I buy and sell,,,these will not go up for sale
  13. The price might seem high compared to some reps,,,but the quality is great and in a different category. I always enjoy seeing someone selling a used RGM for 2,500 (usd) and know that my watch has the same quality case but a better movement and I paid way less. I'll post some pics tomorrow, but IMO, these watches are one of the best deals out there.
  14. I was just thinking it would look great on a Kolbold SOA,,,it has a similar dial. I had two of these and could never find the perfect strap,,,but this one looks close,,,IMO.
  15. This would be an easy fix,,,I only define it that way because if I could fix it, (which I could) I assume any real watchmaker could do it for little money, just need a new 4th wheel I probably have one if you want.
  16. very very interesting project,,,,,,,looks very tempting.....
  17. Wow,,,the seafighter looks great,,,,will be hard to wait but worth it I bet. I'm not sure I would buy a blancpain rep unless I knew for sure the quality was really really high,,,
  18. great work,,,,looks very nice and should compliment the watch well. I'm not too much a fan of anonimo but I do like this one.
  19. These look interesting,,,large tank-like tool watches. I was curiuos if anyone had experience owning one of these? For some reason when the weather starts getting cold, I always get more into watches like this. Here are a few pictures,,,
  20. The fifty fathoms was really the first watch I became obsessed with but never ended up owning,,I think I might end up going with an MKii stingray, that really looks good if you haven't seen one. Everytime I see a post like this,,,,just gets the old urges going...
  21. I read somewhere it is more than just a copy,,,The Poljot is made using the same actual machines that the Valjoux were made with.
  22. It's a Junkers,,,,pretty nice for 400 (usd). Great lum, it actually lasted till morning, but the movement is really the nice part. The only thing about the Poljot 3133 is that there is no quick set date so takes a while to set as you can see.
  23. sorry,,not it,,,I actually got into this brand thinking about German aviation. For the price, I admit I was totally impressed with the quality. Think first cross of the Atantic,,,with head winds.....
  24. well, I had to give a few,,,,,,,,,,It's not all Poljot 3133,,,,,,,,,made in Germany...
  25. Here it is, it's a gen.....but not very expensive. However this movement is very nice,,,IMO.
