  1. That looks pretty good for the pice.....
  2. I'm going generic,,if you look on TZ and search for "Walt99" looks like he sells a decent one for about 120 (usd) and its 24mm.
  3. This was the issue for me and The Zigmeister was a great help getting me a new winding bridge, which is easy to install if you can find one. For me the problem was that this particular watch had a huge crown so when you did wind it by hand, it was easy to crank it very fast and put lots of pressure on the gears. After replacing a part like this,,,I only wind my autos one turn,,,very very slowly and that is it.
  4. I forgot about the new year guess I'll have plenty of time to get a few extra straps,,,
  5. Welcome ,,,I've picked up several from panatime in the past,,,absolutely great service,,nice to see you on the forum.
  6. Me too,,,I went for the blue one but while the looks are basically there,,,I'm more interested in the overall case, screw down crown, bezel action etc. while I'm waiting I'll pick up a 24mm mesh bracelet,,,
  7. Perhaps a bit of all of the above,,,mostly the last hypothesis. I've been a bit distracted with a variety of things but this is still on the list and will appear shortly. Thanks for your interest and patience.
  8. I'm planning on doing a review on this one but it will probably focus on the overall quality and not so much if it matches the gen. I'm not sure why, I haven't picked up a rep in a long time but this one did it for me,,so we'll see.
  9. There is something about it that reminds me of the Blancpain fifty fathoms,,,,not eactly it but close enough. It will be interesting to see what the overal case quality, bezel quality is....I admit it is tempting.
  10. Well,,the crown and dial look good.....can I ask where you got the watch from?
  11. I always enjoy putting up a for trade option just to see what I will get. At least a few times I've had a watch going somewhere between 600 and 800 (usd) and will get something like this. "I have this totally cool Invicta dive watch with a very precise miyota movement, I could even add 50 if I have to" It has happened so many times,,when I do offer up a trade I even say,,,"no invicta divers with miyota movements,,I already have one"
  12. Any idea how this could hold up next to a Breitling SOSF? Both are around the same price,,,I'm only asking because now I'm going back and forth between the two... How is the lum?
  13. Looks pretty good,,,the only bad thing I read about it was that the crystal reflects everything and should have AR,,,but since the price is 300 (usd) new,,,it would be easy to get double ar on the crystal and would be a great buy for the money.
  14. funny how these things turn out,,,ends up the guy actually seems broke so I'm trying to give him a break. One thing that does seem very true,,when you buy new or used,,you buy the person selling,,,at least when things go wrong....jelly and all.
  15. wow,,nice to hear these stories too,,,overall, I've had pretty good luck with used too,,it's just the silly stuff that seems to stand out in memory. Now that is just what I was looking for,,,classic! Save a little and end up having to replace the watch,,at least this person was decent enought to replace it. The best I'm going to get is a small refund that will not even cover replacing the crystal.
  16. When I first posted this,,,I thought the whole situation was kind of funny, now I'm actually not so amused. While he would like to do a refund he spent the money on bills already. If I ever really do buy a used watch again,,,I will do a serious reference check and I will make sure the person is in a reasonable financial situation. Now I have to deal with 1) is this person really this poor or 2) am I just being scammed?
  17. Yes,,,I first tried a rolex sub and the bezel fell off and I found it in my workout bag,,,who knows how but not the best workout.
  18. Congrats!!! great work. It could have been much worse,,,the stem could have broke right at the crown such that you couldn't get it out. As far as the hands go,,,personally I put on the hour hand at any random time, and then set it using the crown to say,,,11 or any hour, then I put the min hand on at twelve. Seems like you might be in for some time with the keyless works...however, I bet if you take the hands and dial off,,you might be able to get the stem out.
  19. I did a post a while ago about which watch was best to run with,,,,basically, if you are logical, it should be a very light quartz,,,,of course, I thought about it and almost picked one up,,,but just couldn't do it. I run with a seiko 007, and this is the collection that I wear to the gym (not all at once, I'm not totally crazy), the smallest is 42 and the largest is 48mm
  20. ironically,,,with reps,,,there isn't much of a mark down for used, probably because of the things you mention. And I'm totally into recycling since I don't keep a watch very long but it needs to be listed as it is. The one I'm talking about was listed as 90% with only a few minor scratches on the bracelet. When I got it, it looked like someone tried to make it vintage. True,,I always go by a feelling when it comes to keeping a watch, I don't think you'll ever see my Doxa up for sale. Here's another funny response. You buy a watch, something goes wrong and the person would like to do a refund, but already spent the money in their paypal account. Sorry.
  21. Ok,,my birthday is coming up, so I
  22. At least that one is clean,,I'm amazed how liberal TZ is getting with MM Homage watches. Many of these are obvious rep cases with OP in small print on the case which you can even see in the pictures.
  23. If I can offer my take on things..I am trying very hard to understand that the only way to waste time is to not attend to the present moment. Every single time I mess up something on a watch it is because I am not attending to the present moment and start getting excited about the outcome. In all likelihood something (probably many things) will go "wrong". Good luck,,I'm working on it myself.
  24. the two large pins on the back of the dial,,,should fit right onto the movement,,,I mean, even if these are really long, they would just stick out of the back of the movement. (sorry,,need to correct this...the bridges do actually get in the way,,,the the dial feet could be too long I guess) There are two screws on back of the movement that hold the dial in place when you turn them to the right position. You will need a loupe but look to see if these are in the correct position, a small section of screw is missing, this should line up with the hole,,,so the dial feet can pass. After the dial is in, give the screw a turn. If these are not in the correct position, the dial will not rest on the movement. Some version of this movement have the screws for the dial on the side,,,,easy to check, there would be two small screws on the side of the movement. Basically, the dial should be secure to the movement, if you had to you could glue or use these things called "dial dots" which glues it down.
