Nice story! and nice watch. I agree with you about the bracelet,,,the only two bracelets I wear are my seamaster and my doxa,,,I've never really liked any others.
-
Nice pic! For me it is something colorful,,,,first really nice day in my part of the world in a long time

Sooo nice!!! I can't believe what the 2x ar does for a watch.

It took me years before I broke down and finally got a decent winder,,,it's actually coming today, a 6 watch winder. So far, about 12 have been using a single cheap winder. Sounds like yours was a better deal,,,,mine was 500 from shopnbc.

This just in,,,,,if you can believe it,,I'm flipp'n it. Just too much like a brick on the wrist. But,,,,a great looker...

Breitling Superocean Heritage Wristshots!
chris5264 replied to piratedzeus's topic in The Breitling Area
Well,,,I wish I had both at the same time,,,I really liked the UPO but for some reason it sat like a brick on the wrist. The BSH must be more curved or just thinner. Here it is on an inexpensive rubber.... -

on a greg stevens wears larger than the UPO (IMO) but more comfortable. -
For what ever reason,,I enjoy paradox,,,,,,and the skeleton pam is a totally paradoxical watch,,,a tool watch that is for show.....I was obsessed with these a while back and probably made 6 or 7 and sold all of them ,,,,,,maybe it's time to make a another. and now for the all time strangest piece ever...you need a dial since the movement is too small for the case, so I had to carve out the center. I've never seen anything like it and hope I never do...

There are a few of these out there,,,I'll post mine later on in the day (gotta to to work ). Lots of luminor a few radiomirs and I think I'm the only one with a skeletonized fiddy,,,,,wow that thing turned out ugly!

I'm not much of a ring person (except the one I have to wear,,lol) but put me down for one,,,the idea is just too cool to pass up.

After recovering from my phobia of "small" watches (i.e., smaller than 42mm) I started really getting into some of the Sinns,,,,,the simple dial looks perfect with the double AR. Anyway,,,I might pick one of these up this weekend (I also have a U1 on the way ). I would like to hear any comments, if you have them. thanks I was also looking at the 657,,,no chrono but just a simple divers bezel.

some times after a bump,,,the hairspring can get messed up on the unitas movement (this has come up many times on the forum). There are two possible solutions,,,the first is to take of the back and give a puff of air to the spring with might untangle it. (don't use your breath). The other is easier, just hold the watch in your hand and give a light tap to the case,,,,,someto,es this will untangle the hairspring. usually a hairspring problem makes it run really fast,,,,like 5 mins an hour so it does sound like you might have something else wrong,,but worth trying.

I was really into the mesh but for some reason once I had it,,,it just didn't work for me. I ended up keeping it on the black croc

ok,,,none of these are gens but the homage has the same postiive things as the rep,,,I can wear them without worry. Each of these has an ETA movement, WR to 200m and goes for around 400-550 (USD) used. Just thought I'd take a pic and see what you think. My favorite of the four is the MKii stingray.

Drawbacks to shipping internationally with reduced customs dec. value

I get this a lot also from buyers in Canada,,,,,the big problem is that if you put something up for sale and a total stranger offers you asking price of,,,say 800 but wants you to put 35 on the customs form,,,basically they are asking you to risk not using insurance or only insuring for 35,,,I think that is a lot to ask on the part of the seller -
I would be these are some of the most complex dials ever made,,,mine had 421 (or something crazy) stars represented on a disk that would rotate once a day! It actually came with a loupe so you could make some sense of it. As much as I enjoyed it,,,,it was a quartz and had to go I'll post a few pics if I can find them.

case finish looks really good,,,nice dial and the engravings on the back look

Do you remember when buying and selling watches was fun?
chris5264 replied to chris5264's topic in General Discussion
thanks for the comments,,,,, the universe has a strange sense of humor,,,, right after I wrote this I had two of the best deals I've ever had. The first was a watch that was totally upgraded with all the best options. None of this was mentioned in the ad, so I was very happy when I got it yesterday. The second was a trade deal where someone basically trading me a 650 (usd) watch for a 400 dollar watch just because he didn't feel like selling. I do think the numbers make things more complex and risky,,,,but I should be pleased....I typically put a lot of trust in people and after well over 100 deals (I'm afraid of the actual number) I've still never been seriously mistreaded,,,just a few annoying little things. -

chris5264 replied to chris5264's topic in General Discussion
thanks,,,actually my frustrations were coming from two ads I had on tz and WUS,,,not even this forum. It was sillly to get upset,,,I mean,,,people are as they are. There will always be someone looking for an even better deal,,just the way it is. -
What has happend in the watch community???? You can put a watch up for a silly low price and still you find people with crazy low offers,,,,no introductions in the email,,,just "I'll take it" for about 40% less than asking price. Or some crazy trade offer or better yet,,,some crazy payment plan,,,Or my favorite,,,someone that will do a 10 email exchange and then hit you up with a crazy low offer,,,, sorry just frustrated with the the turn the watch world is taking. and my favorite,,,some asks a question and thinks that means that you will hold the watch for them....and after it gets sold they fire off a few mad emails like,,,why didn't you hold it for me,,,I did ask a question.......
-
I would have never guessed this was only 47......did you ever see the wrist shots of this watch? I would have guessed it was around 60. It must have been on some small wrist,,,,I mean, 47 is around a fiddy.

Opinions on the Precista collection of watches?
chris5264 replied to Martyd3's topic in General Discussion
I think they are very nice,,,I just got a prs-50 and have been looking for a prs-14,,,,,the 20 also looks nice. Seems like the lum is decent but nothing like a Seiko or Doxa. Also the AR is light but better than nothing. -
Yes,,,that is a nice piece and RWC seems to make some good quality watches,,,I had the 1938 and recall that the overall quality was much higher than the typical rep. The only two bad things about this watch is the overal size,,I mean it's just too big. and the lum is supposed to be very poor.

I was actually going to guess it was an Android,,,I had the same one but in blue,,,I also bought it just because I liked the color of the movement. They are going for around 200 on slopnbc. Cool project,,,
