  1. The dial wear doesn't match the case wear. The dial looks like it's been flooded underwater for years and the case looks like you've worn it a dozen times. Keep playing with it, I'm sure you'll find something you like. Others have used tea to darken the hands and dial and if you put the care in a container with a bunch of pennies and knock it around and then hit it with a little sandpaper it will look more used. Have fun and let us see how it goes.
  2. Great watch and you got a really good price too. I like the looks of the regulator as well, but I don't know if I would like trying to tell time on it. I was thinking of getting the Alpina Avalanche Regulator for myself a nice 48mm watch, but not sure if I would like the hands arrangement. Let us kn how you like the regulator style. I recently got myself a nice 47mm limited edition Oris dive watch too, the Carlos Coste. Here's a link to some pictures of the watch: Carlos Coste Limited Edition They also make a chrono version of this watch and it's very nice looking as well. I got my Oris CC for $1100 a little more than the regulator, but still reasonably priced.
  3. Well, I ordered a few new catalogs and a few from brands that I didn't have before. If anyone else has watch brands that offer catalogs please post them here. I also have the Wristwatch Annuals and they are porn for people like us. Also, if you have the time to check out any of the nice watch magazines they give you many ideas too, I have a new Watch Time to check out now.
  4. Well, it sounds like we have the movement we want inside the watch design we wanted with all the flaws we don't want. So, who's going to buy the first one and then post a review for us? NOT IT! We're still waiting for a much easier PAM194 in titanium......
  5. I agree with the other 2 above.
  6. I also heard that Bigfoot was sighted wearing a nice titanium case 194. We've been having the 187 7753 carrot dangled in front of us for many many many many months now, please let us know if you really see one.
  7. You can sometimes find them on eBay, they used to be pretty expensive when I got mine a few years ago. I think I paid around $200 for mine, but it looks really nice and the wood trim is very dark and finished beautifully, so I didn't mind paying a little extra.
  8. You should have done this a few years ago when I lived there, now it's too far for me to drive (wrong state).
  9. Both RPM and direction depend on what movement you have in your watch. Here is a nice database provided by Orbita, it is arranged by brand of watch. Orbita Database Good luck with your project and let us know how it all works out.
  10. Me too, was so close a few times getting a genuine, but maybe I'll get my training wheels first and see if I want to drop that much cash.
  11. I had one of their triple winders and it worked great for a few years, but then one of the winders became "floppy" and it wouldn't hold an all SS watch without it flopping around. I bought a used Orbita quad winder a few years ago and it's been a far better product, but it cost 3x as much too. I would say your choice is a good one and I think you'll be happy for the price.
  12. Well, it looks like the elusive unicorn (or PAM194 in this case) has escaped us again, did anyone get one?
  13. Very nice watch and you did well with the Sharpie coloring. I just wish it had a date window, I would use that more than the chrono to time myself running up and down the stairs at work.
  14. I didn't vote, but I will continue to watch the threads and see what the membership feels is the appropriate response to all of this.
  15. Ken, That was the watch I was just checking out, pretty cool looking. I wonder if it's worth $400+ a week? I don't even wear any of my watches for a week straight, they are on a daily rotation, so that thing would only be worn once maybe twice in that week.
  16. I have bought, sold and traded many watches on there and have never had any problems. As with anything do as much research as you can on the person you're dealing with. Ask them for references, also look at their post count and how long they have been a member there. There is no sure way to avoid scammers, but if ou do some research you should be safe.
  17. Wow, I thought TTK was talking about me at first, good to see he has his sites on someone else. I think turning over the moderating team often would be a huge pain in the butt for both the new mods and the admin. Some of the tools we have are a little confusing to use and the stoopid operating manual for this place is nonexistent. I can't even figure out some of the tools I have at my fingertips, so I just stick with the ones I know how to use. If you kept turning over the moderating team often it would take T months to get everyone up to speed on the tools and I think he's busy enough. Also, over the past year we have had several moderators leave and new ones appointed, so we do have some fresh faces on the team here. I think we are pretty receptive to the forums wishes and we try to keep things fresh and new here (especially Ken). I guess I don't see any real benefit to rotating the moderating team every year, even the president gets 4 years to mess things up before he has to be reelected.
  18. Give the chrono a test drive and I'm sure you'll be happy.
  19. I was wondering your budget too, if you have about $3-5K to spend get the PO chrono. I have a 45mm PO (non-chrono) and it is one of the best watches I have in my collection, comfort and weight and style. Between that and my PAM090 I get the most comments, even over my Rolex. If you can find one of the PO chrono, give it a try and I think you'll find yourself with a new watch. I was going to buy the orange bezel one the other day, but my wife told me to wait (she wants to get it for me, maybe?). You can sometimes find them on TZ for sale, not very many of them though. Also, if you can find the Omega Railmaster XXL, that's one BIG watch.
  20. Congrats Ken, I think my wife will want to do that again because our wedding was a little thing with a retired judge, but we have 5 more to go until we get to your decade of marriage. Let us know how it goes and maybe you can take some pictures (of the watches in attendance).
  21. Not as interesting as his other projects, but I'm sure there are some who are interested. I wish I had got one of the Dreadnaught's they are nice looking watches and have a HUGE resale value.
  22. The new submersible is cool looking, but they need to make a version for US people that the gauge is in feet. The case back on the new diver's watch is pretty cool too. As for the watch on his wrist, it looked like some of the first versions of PVD reps we got that were too "black". I wonder if someone got him and sold him a first version rep. BTW that was a nice find and thanks for sharing.
  23. I like a few models Anonimo makes, my favorite is the Hi Dive with the black dial.
  24. If they do rep this we all know the first version will have the stamp on the wrong side and then it will take 10 versions to get it correct.
  25. Check some of these out and see if you like any of these: Ofrei
