  1. Why did they use the slow beat 21k in it? Do you think that V2 will have the faster 28k? Usil
  2. This is what mine looks like. Usil
  3. The black looks really sharp. I like it a lot. I bought one of these when they were not yet this good and now I really want to get the black one but - the price - I will have to wait. And I agree this watch needs a strap. Usil
  4. So true. I would not be surprised to see one of our car manufactureres fall to bancrupcy and ask for a government bailout in the near future. In the 70's/80's when foreign cars like Honda and Toyota started to make inroads in car sales in the US by selling better cars at cheaper prices, Ford and GM cried foul and got congress to pass restrictive inport taxes to effectively not only remove the price difference but make them more expensive. I remember that as soon as these taxes were enacted all US manufactureres raised their prices considerably and screwed the consumers. These companies are slow, jugernauts living in the past and no idea how to survive in the future. European car manufactureres have been building fuel efficient cars for years with most having small diesel engines in them. I know because when I lived in France I marveled at how slow the gas gage moved. If they were smart they would enter the US and fill the need. Usil
  5. Don't worry about anything mechanical. Rest easy and recuperate. Best wishes on a speedy recovery. Usil
  6. Two of my new favorites. Can't get them off my wrist - literally. Usil
  7. I bought my PAM 063-GMT with real Swiss ETA 2893-2 from Eddie Lee back in February 2006. Paid a whopping $499.00 with a SS bracelet. It was the most expensive rep I have ever bought and still one of my best. Now we pay that price for Asian. Usil

    Time!

Good message. Thanks for taking the time to send it Usil
  9. To me this is obvious why the lower prices. Lower prices appear because 1) the competition or 2) the market prce has risen too high. Sometimes it is a combination or both. Do you think Coke likes Pepsi? that they all sit around in friendly meetings? Competition is good for the consumer at any level. Prices have been reduced to former levels and that brings a lot of people back into play for new watches and increased sales. They found the top of the market and now are moving back to more profitable pricing. Other human traits ascribed to the reasoning is missing the point even if it is true. It's about the money and keeping it rolling in a sustainable way. Usil
  10. It's the thickness of this watch that might get to you, not the diameter. Bugs some people. Usil
  11. Looking back in my past I wish I had learned this earlier. Usil
  12. Welcome. A growing collection and just look at all the new stuff being offered at reduced prices. Usil
  13. I did back in the 60's. Worked in the Summer, got low interest school loans (which took 7 years to pay off) and also worked part time for SAGA which was the company providing and preparing food for the dorms. Always broke. Ate a lot of baloni or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Hardest thing I ever did and no job after I graduated was harder than that time of my life but would not change a thing. Best investment I ever made - in myself. No way I was ever going to quit. But you know who had it harder than I did - it was the young married students. You can't get what you need by asking us. You have to want this really bad for yourself or it won't work for you. You have to be able to see the goal and do everything it takes to make it work. Financially, you will come out ahead but it is a long term investment. I have seen old TV adds about the poor guy who could not afford to go to college and his parents could not help him so he was out of luck. Bull S-h-i-t. If a guy wants it bad enough he can make it happen. Go for it. Usil
  14. At least you got that right. This guy is a troll and he is realing us in. Usil
  15. Welcome to the group. Prices are higher than a few years ago but selection is getting better. Begin your search and narrow it down to 2 or 3 to contain your costs and get a watch that makes you happy. Then again - if you are rich - have at it. Usil
  16. Just had a laugh at Chaitik's post and then hit reality with yours. This is sick and it is sad to know that there are more sicko's like her who care not the least about the feelings of others. I hope they give her the 5 years times 4 - consecutively. Usil
  17. Technical people often have poor social skills but of course he could have just been a jerk. Don't take it personally. Usil
  18. Exactly. it is wishful thinking that it will be better. Usil
  19. I always like this watch and wondered it did not get more attention. Great review. I bet a few will be sold now. Usil
  20. Trusty is the guy to ask these questions and he has already told you - At this price I would spend the extra 20 bucks. It will be a nice entry level watch for you that most of us have bought at one time or another. Usil
  21. Ah, the good old days - just two years ago. I miss them too. $350.00 is about my upper limit today too and I only buy about 10% of what I used to get in past years. Hear that dealers - 10% of what I used to pay out to you. My last good purchase was the Breitling Heritage for $250.00 fom Silix for which I put a German Milinese bracelet on it and I have worn it every day for the past 4 months. Came home this week from traveling and finally decided it was time for a change. Checked out the watch box to see what I would change over too. Nice to have a selection but my collection has not changed much in two years. Why - today's prices! Usil
  22. What an outstanding review. I initially felt it was too wierd to have the crown wearing on the inside of my left wrist but it looks balanced and I like a little wierdness in my watches. I just added this to my wish list. Thanks for the time you spend putting the review together. Usil
  23. They probably use normal lume and apply a translucent grey overcoat on it. Usil
  24. My wrist is 7.5 inches and I removed no links (fits a little loosly but feels great) so I think we have the min and max for this bracelet. 6.34 (all links removed) to 7.5 (all links remain) Usil
