In My Rail dial build about a month ago, i took a short cut, I made something that looked like a separate HE valve in the case but it was just a glued in plug in a shallow drilling, nothing but a fake, not even a replica of what it should be, Faux I realy wanted to fit a Helium valve but i did not have one, i know there is no need for one, it will never be called to work, it is an extra hole in the case that is not needed be me ever, alot of work to dril out the case and lets face it they are not cheep to buy, $100 from yuki or somthing like that, that is a lot of cash for something that will never be asked to work and that i dont need. But there is a big difference between need and want!!!!!!!!!! So what do you do when you want something but dont want to pay for it and you cant steal it (well you could but it would not be worth flying to where ever yuki is) You make it! So yesterday i set about making one on the lathe, If any one else does this the mesurements on the yuki ones are wrong, it states 5mm I would say that this is about 0.4 mm to long and if any one noticed my post last night, Ziggy picked up on that straight away, even with only a spring bar for reference! So here is the rough shape And a bit more fine work Then i forgot to take any more photos untill it was finished Then was the drilling the case stage and making the spring (the gen one looks like brass but i have been infrmed it is bronse as brass is not springy enough, i used part of a unitas main spring, great funn trying to drill a 1mm hole in hardened spring steel and then cut a 0.6mm wide slot in it. On the drilling my short cut made this a bit hard as i hade removed too much metal before for the plug so i had to back fill with metal epoxy and re drill. I forgot again to make any photos untill i made this film of the WR test to 5 ATM after a couple of failed tests and some fine tuning of the valve seat it was Water resistant. Success! And a wristy or three So i can see a bit of difference from before And a Gen Was it worth the work, well yes bacause i know it is like the gen and it works, is it worth it just for looks well yes it looks better, and also it was worth it for the learning experience.

Not the spring bar i know that is a spring bar but the He valve below it? Bad photos i know but that was always my problem

If you are going to relume that means you are going to add material to the dial, it would be almost impossible to do that with out raising the profile a little

Is that the same as the Gen? if so it is actualy a good device as there is little wear compared with a screw down -
That whole movement looks a bit poo, it would not be hard for them to replicate the stamp, the finish on the achor bridge is not great and the pearlage looks very rough even after plating, but i think the only way to tell would be to take it apart and comparte it with a known baseplate, remember that a few years ago these swis unitas were cheep as chips and readily available, and there were lots of very old ones basic ones about.

Thank You Stephane If you have next weeks Lottery numbers that would be good but apart from people participating i think that is to only thing to make a GTG better Andy, is it worth us bringing a bottle of any thing due to the prices in Malmo? -
Finhs before you accuse me of withholding your watch (which i recieved monday, i spent tuesday to 9 pm friday away at work) it is on the way back to you at my cost Registered post RG948306735DE To ensure that there will be no missunderstanding of its function when it left me and just before i closed the lid on the box you can clearly see a moveing seconds hand in all these films I have removed the dust that your watchsmith left there and regulated the movement, but that is all, as there was nothing else to do. A 5 day turn around with 4 days at work i would say is a pretty good turn around time, so you can drop the withholding watch bit now

If any one coming has a spare cartel 93150 you want to sell bring it along please -
As far as i know there is no best version of this, they all suffer from the modded seconds at 6 movement potential problems, you can chuck as much cash at it as you want but you wont solve that issue completly untill you chuck enough cash at it to buy a gen

Many of you will remember this thread where Star69 imformed the board of an issue here was having with a member, in that same thread Finhs cam up and made accusations that Star69 had scammed him as the watch he bought arrive "disputably" not working. (you will also note that Finhs posts have all been edited by him,to read "problem solved" to hide all his comments but they can be reposted if required) To try to bring a quick and fair for all solution i offered to repair the watch for Finhs and frank would foot the bill if required. I how ever suspected a cases of buyers remorse due to the attached story (this can be confirmed by my fellow moderators as i mentioned it in a post in the admin area long before i recieved the watch) I will now post an exert from a PM that i sent to Finhs and Star69 followed by some of the replys and allow the membership to make up their minds if this was handled fairly, and who has been the huurt party in ths issue. I warn you all it may be a LONG READ. The rest of the PM chain involves 3 moderators a spanish translation to ensure that Finhs realy understood what i was telling him, ending in the judgement Star69 is nt culpable for anything and that for my time and trouble then Finhs should make a €50 donation to the board ( i will post his watch back to him at my expence) and make a public appology for his comments to Star69 I dont want to post the whole chain as you will all loose the will to live less than half way through, but even today Finhs has PMed Nanug informing him that he must step in and tell me to return his watch which i am withholding " i picked the watch up on monday, and since tuesday night i have been away with work untill 9pm this evening. Finhs has insisted that the watch was broken even when he has seen the films of his watch working and also insted that it be repaired at Star69s cost and i supply a warentee,(for what if it is working) Finhs still refuses to make an appology for the coments he has made about Star69 including posting openly the members full name and address but has agreed to maka a donation but it has taken 3 mods and 3 days of PM Ping Ping Gentlemen, I ask that you make up your own minds about this issue, i will be sending the watch back (and it is working) correctly packed, I will pay the postage. If there are parts of this story that either member thinks are important of i have missed out let me know and i can add them or you can add them. I am now leaving this for you the members to make your minds up on.

Nice review thanks for taking the time, When you say the crown pulls out as normal are you saying that the device has not action on the crown, it does not lock it or it opperates as per the gen -
And it even takes a gen movement
-
Normally yes you need to remove the dial and hands
