I am currently searching for a vendor for dry transfer decals for the X on the dial of the sub. Having the caseback engraved should not be a problem. My basewatch should be an Euromariner LV.

I am pretty much a starter with my coffee addiction. I hope my "latte art" will get better in future. So what I want to say is that there are probable 5.9 billion people out there that can do it better. The key is the texture of the milk. I am still trying... What you need: A mill, an espresso machine and a watch. Yes, you really need a watch. After only one hour the coffee loses about 40% of the ethereal oils that are the reason for it's flavour. So only fresh powdered coffee should be used. Push it baby... That's how it should look like after compressing the coffee on the portafilter. Insert the portafilter A good espresso needs about 30 seconds (have a look at your watch!) for only 25ml. Faster makes it less tasteful, slower will kill the golden brown crema on top and will make it too bitter. Your espresso should look like this now: Some cold milk. More fat makes it a lot easier to get a nice milk froth. Take whole milk with at least 3.5% fat. Full throttle! The volume of the milk has nearly doubled. At this point you should avoid taking pictures and instead try to be fast with your desired theme: Take a toothpic and some of the crema. You can write with it! So now you know what watch I was wearing: Are Val and I the only coffee geeks here?

Coffee is my other hobby. Besides watches, playing golf and riding my motorcycle through the black forrest

lol, wheaton, NO!!!! This is NOT photoshopped. Actually it is much easier to do this in real life than in Photoshop. wait a minute, I'll shoot a tutorial. Miss silvia is heating up allready...

Hi Val, I'd not call it latte art, but one can barely see what my intention was I use a Rancilio Silvia and a Demoka M203 mill.

Hello everybody, when having breakfast this morning I put my Explorer on the saucer, looked at the coffee and ... see what I saw

One of the last 16610 with engraved rehaut and solid endlinks. With the 16800 and the "SWISS" 16610 you'd have all incarnations of the classic saphire Submariner

The more I look at your Tudor the more I think that I'd like it better than a 1680. Wonderful watch!

I've been in Basel, I've seen those watches and both look great. The TT sub will be available both in black and blue (same blue like on the white gold sub 116619LB). The Datejust II's size is questionable IMO. Actually it is just a Milgauss with date function and so far only available with white or yellow gold bezel and Oyster bracelet. The size makes it a lot less elegant than the 36mm classic Datejust which fortunately will remain in the collection. The Datejust II is not the dressy sporty all day and every occasion watch that the 36mm Datejust used to be. But it will be a great watch for those who miss a date function on the Milgauss. EDIT: The subs have a glide lock clasp similar to that on the DeepSea Sea-Dweller, but not the big foldable divers extension of the DSSD.

With the difference that you used to spend that amount on Rolex frankens, which cost twice as much as gens. If you are not 100% sure that the PO will be a keeper a used gen will be cheaper in the end.

Hello everybody, my future wife got her new style Datejust Medium today, purchased via Precious Time. The watch is pure quality and makes me thinking of getting a gents size datejust for myself. The lume is not perfect but good considering the size of the lumed markers. Highly recommended for a present

I think this is a Mini Submariner dial at WCT. 16.3mm is very small...

Hello everybody, actually the watch that gets most wrist time in my stable is the classic Explorer, the watch that has been on Mt. Everest and probably the watch with the longest production time without being replaced by something new. It is small, but does not look like a small watch. It has some wrist presence, but is light at 103gr. It wears so comfortable that I sometimes have to check if it still is on my wrist. Probably it is the perfect size, even now on the big watch craze. It is elegant enough to be worn with a suit, with casual wear it looks sporty and it is robust enough to be worn on an expedition and any other outdoor activity. It is perfect for every occasion.

I hope they'll make a propper version of the non chrono 2009 Aquatimer soon!

Ofrei.com sells the gen for about $68. I'd take that, does not get better

Francisco's ring: precision plastic injection molding?
chefcook replied to hackR's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
maybe we should concentrate on a solution that is not so fragile and easier to produce. Why not make a ring with a carrier plate included and just glue an overlay on that? IMO this should be easier to produce in metal as it is less fragile. -
Francisco's ring: precision plastic injection molding?
chefcook replied to hackR's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I am working in this field in the automotive industry and IMO this would not be near profitable. First an epoxy or silicone mould is not strong enough. To produce parts with the required accuracy a steel mould is the only way as you need very high injection pressure and a very pourable material to fill the very thin ring. Most probably you would even need a hot runner nozzle. Second thing is a ring is VERY difficult to make without distortion, especially in this size. Best way to make a ring is a film gate from the top and then cut out the film. The mold including hot runner nozzle and the standard parts needed will cost you a few thousands plus you need a injection moulding machine like Babyplast with a very good temperature control... Metal is the way to go, IMO. -
Yep, and that really makes the modern Omegas. I never had a watch running that accurate before. BTW, if you search for a gen Omega 2403 or 2500 CoAxial movement: Maybe I can source one. Price is about $750 if I remember correctly...

I think Homer and Naarika are able to get them, too.

Omega Ploprof; does anyone else like these funky things?
chefcook replied to ubiquitous's topic in The Omega Area
Don't know why people paid $18k for them at Antiquorum, but here owners usually part with them for about 6k Euro ($8400) A good rep of the upcoming new Ploprof would be cool. I'd be one, definitely... -
Yep, 1000 lira were about 1DM (German Marks), which were 0,51

Sorry, you are wrong IMO. WM9s Ex1 is a TW Best. Except from the caseback nothing from the watchhead was interchangeable with the CN rep that the other dealers have. The case is exactly the same as the TW Best 16200 I have.

Build a Frankenwatch from a gen datejust 16200 case, buy outside the EU from WM9 (TW Best Explorer) or go for a gen...
