  1. Anyone after a Val 77? http://cgi.ebay.com/working-valjoux-77-chr...1QQcmdZViewItem Have no knowledge of the seller, just spotted it. Caveat Emptor. Offshore
  2. Well a PM to admin, or a team member would help to start. At least we wouldn't be chasing around waiting for PM replies everywhere..........AND it would show some bone fides! Sort of sorts the wheat from the chaff... so to speak. Offshore
  3. Maybe, maybe not! But those with more than 1 will be able to "freely watch" all their accounts being deleted. Cos what I do know, is that every one of those miserable F*kkers, who still have more than 1 account in short time from now...WILL find themselves with NO accounts, and NO ability to be reinstated. @TT, you are far too nice about this. @All.... People we have far better things to do than to chase around here asking for dup accounts to be removed. Realise that dup accounts are the 1st step to scammers acting here!! I have just seen a list with many names on it, some well known and respected members. ( and to them, my respect is diminished) However basically it is just the nuisance value to have to send out warning PM's, and maintain this sort of info. So come on people get rid of 'em, take a positive step for your forum, and assist us in our efforts to track and rid ourselves of these scammers. Offshore
  4. Nanug, Not such good news, as I understand FE, ( at least their quartz movements) are now all discontinued, as of August 2007. I have some hand assortments on the way from HK. 120/70/170, 120/70/195, and 110/65/195, in gold, chrome and black. Give me a yell if you are struggling. ( Also have an assortment set of RX coming in chrome and gold) Offshore
  5. The time machine, my good man! Powerboats are so................... unexciting Offshore
  6. Glad you "found" us Welcome aboard. Offshore
  7. Chief, You know the rules about bad language on this forum! And that name is as bad as it gets.... my one major scam in my rep times... cost me $1k+. Now go and stand in the corner... bad language indeed! (She/it was also the reason for my siggy.) Offshore
  8. Yeh, He's gotta have 'em with diamonds on the lugs & cg's as well! Offshore
  9. Yes congrats indeed. It was where I shed my "noobness"... cut my teeth, so to speak. And I'm sure the same for many, many others. Admin, have you ever retained a record of how may registrations in total you had there? I know there has been some house cleaning over the years, but it would be interesting to know how many have passed through the doors. Offshore
  10. And here is the amazing coincidence. I opened a watch today, and voila, it had a VX12E in it! ( It was a Pulsar- "same stable") So I was an instant "expert", ( although I had copied the spec sheets into my archives) So time spent yesterday, was time repaid today... in spades. And the next watch after a couple, had a Seiko version VX32E, so I gained a few more minutes, 'cos I knew where to look! Just a wonderful tool the net! ( Not to mention some great cross reference charts I have) Offshore
  11. Hey Dutch, Thought I would do some legwork for you. Went to a couple of manufacturers sites, and searched for distribution locations..London. Came up with Tag Heur United Kingdom LVMH Watch & Jewellery (UK) Ltd 2nd Floor 13 Crescent Place London SW3 2EA Phone 020 7371 6166 Fax 020 7565 6400 Rolex UK 19 St James Square London SWIY43E UK Omega proved a bit more challenging, so I thought ..stuff it! and googled London White Pages-> search by business type-> "watch manufacturer"-> got this. http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publisha.co...p;x=31&y=10 That may be the answer you want. See, it's not hard to find something on the net, if you really want it! And I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket by just contacting Swatch/Richemont, contact each of the brand distributors, and Swatch! And BTW, whilst my learned colleagues above, may have valid concerns as to the likelihood of obtaining an internship, I say go for it, if you REALLY want it, put out the vibes, and it will be yours. Some thoughts for you. The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't. ~Henry Ward Beecher When the world says, "Give up," Hope whispers, "Try it one more time." ~Author Unknown Don't be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves. ~Dale Carnegie Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain. ~Author Unknown Consider the postage stamp: its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing till it gets there. ~Josh Billings Fall seven times, stand up eight. ~Japanese Proverb The greatest oak was once a little nut who held its ground. ~Author Unknown So there ya go Dutch ( Geeze I wax lyrical at 4.30am! ) Offshore
  12. Dutch, Good idea...why not just mail out a form letter to start... (not a bloody email)... with a bit of self promotion and presentation? And don't even think about mentioning the dreaded word....R... E... P! Offshore
  13. Gotta say I'm with swdivad on this. If you guys really were aware of how much spam needs deleting on a daily basis, you would understand that anyone trying to shill up a rep site, needs VERY short shrift! This may not have been a true shill job, (but if it walks like a duck etc).... so "Ian" will either get over it, and find a new home, or continue to spew forth his crap. (BTW- I got the same PM @ RWG1- just didn't respond.) Hence my earlier post here. Offshore
  14. @sw.... Hey, you found one of the brighter lights in that one! Now don't go bringing the truly brain challenged in to play Offshore
  15. @Rolexman, Always here to try to humbly serve! I do however have a degree in internet search (Well almost ) Must just spend too much time "searching" But it sure does help with the "tricky' ones! Thank god for the "net" Offshore
  16. Don't know this one at all. Sometimes, just sometimes, you may need to screw the crown off the stem, and pull the movement out with the stem still attached. Alternatively, pull the crown to the handset pos, whilst carefully watching the back of the movement; if you see something move, your release will be there, or close by. Will go for a little hunt, and see what I turn up. Offshore Well back, with maybe an answer. http://www.network54.com/Forum/78440/messa...26gt%3B%26gt%3B Seems like I may have been on the right track. When you pull out the crown, a setting lever "pops out" Hope this helps.
  17. @brsmith1, For your information. 1 Admin is in the middle of a large business project and is spending little time here. 2 I saw your "donate" post a week ago. Now if you made it through the "donate" button, it is just that a donation. If you contacted admin, and used the payment method he specified, it then is a subscription, and you are up graded immediately. Not withstanding, it WILL get sorted. 3 In the last week we have again experienced some PP difficulties which admin is still working on. So please remain patient, unfortunately we all have other lives too... and sometimes they must take precedence. I am sure admin will contact you soon. Offshore
  18. Ken, Interesting sidenote to that 1984 adv. The little tubby guy in the black T shirt, is/was a good mate of mine. He was on the commitee at the old Fitzroy F C with me, (he did quite a few ads around this time) Offshore
  19. @AMK, No offense taken, and we are the 1st to want to receive any critiques! (Especially positive ) And on that note, I will take your suggestion to the admin team, and if it strikes the right accord, we would move on it. Offshore.
  20. @Jaymoi, Totally agree with Fxrandy here, that is symptomatic of a low battery. (Some movements have this feature to indicate same) Have the existing battery tested, and if it is low, replace. If it has a good charge, it probably will be dirty terminals/contacts. If that fails, it will need circuit testing (probably the coil), as it sounds like the quartz crystal is OK. Maybe try a mall battery guy, they only want the $$$$ Do you know what movement it has? As far as the strap, you could try some superglue, just dont get that stuff near the watch. If that doesn't work, I don't have too many more ideas, maybe try some two part epoxy? Offshore
  21. @AMK000, A response as a singular mod... not from the team. Yes, we were well aware of the situation, as it unfolded from information from members; it was the subject of much discussion within admin. And yes, steps were taken to protect members... for instance, he wasn't banned, to leave the door open for ongoing contact.(and some others, not to be disclosed here) As far as a written warning to members, I beleive the many threads on the subject-just some of which I post below- http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=324725 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=349540 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=239287 should have been ample warning for any member who carried out even the remotest search! However all this info surfaced "after the event", and we certainly didn't have a crystal ball to fortell actions. The reason for this forum, is for information to pass freely... in a perfect world it would all be positive and useful info, in this case negative, but still useful info was published. Where possible we try to leave it to the members to arrive at their own judgements, and only act when we see irrefutable scam attempts in progress ( you would be amazed at how many new "members' are removed at 1st or 2nd post!... 1 in the last 24 hours) I might add, that just like the general membership, there was a variance of opinions within admin, however, as always, the most popular opinion held sway, and the team proceeded on that course of action. So I beleive the judgement call of the team, finally has been proven correct, contact has been restablished, and it would appear that things are being sorted. But we are not the rep police, we manage the running of the forum, not the policing of actions, or lack thereof, of members. Offshore
  22. Whilst the young remember. We cannot forget. LEST WE FORGET Offshore
  23. Do we have a member in North Carolina (or close proximity,) who could run an assist for me on a little shipping problem I have? It wouldn't take a lot of your time, and would help me no end in getting a small item to Oz. Anyone who may be able to assist, please shoot me a PM. Thanks, offshore
  24. Please read point 5 of "Posting"! See..... you're banned (Only old timers get away with a smilie!) Offshore
