  1. Welcome aboard.. bcc.. You may just find some vintage Omega ladies gens out there at good prices as well! However our collectors certainly have a few available. Must however take you to task on- Real men play another version, where the ball is kicked a little more frequently, hence.. foot... ball! Just have a look at a game of Aussie Rules! Rugby... sure there are a few who play it here as well... 'cos they couldn't get a guernsey in the REAL game! And as for the other derivations... League and Gridiron... well ... just goes to show that there is something for all tastes! Back to horological matters... enjoy your stay... hold on to your wallet... and don't even look at those Panerai things, I'm told they become addictive! Offshore
  2. Probably a good idea to use "What Is".... Google it! With limited research I found- And if I spent more than these few minutes, I could probably answer all your queries. But maybe it would be better for you to get your own answers. It is not difficult on the 'net now! I'm not being clever here, but I feel the 'net is such a wonderful research tool, I just wonder why people do not use it more often... then they can answer their own questions! But hey... if you need to know something more, just ask, and I will try to find out. We all are never to old to learn something new. Offshore
  3. And when a crystal lift is the only option!
  4. FWIW... Nanug in crystal remove posture!
  5. Sheesh, You guys and your I Phones! Just picked one up on fleabay for 5 bucks... works great! Offshore
  6. One wonders if a certificate is supplied and if so, is it a genuine, or a rep? Offshore (See my siggy)
  7. Nanug, Admin had my keyboard confiscated....and gave me voice recognition software, and a mike! But it only recognised some crazy Scandinavian dialect! Certainly couldn't understand Orstalian! Offshore
  8. Hmmm CS, Knew I should never have asked. From Seiko's FAQ................. Hardlex Glass This is a toughened mineral crystal glass developed by the SEIKO Watch Corporation, which is highly resistant to knocks and scratching. Hardlex glass is standard in most SEIKO, PULSAR and LORUS models. Sapphlex Glass A new type of glass also developed by and unique to SEIKO. Sapphlex glass is a combination of SEIKO
  9. Found this article whilst browsing-(Don't ya just love the net!) CVD Technologies "Mainland China
  10. Jaymoi, In your situation, I would think it would be worth investing $20 in- http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Price-Guide...6799&sr=1-1 I have an older copy of this, and it lives by my 'puter. So handy to ID and value anything which "pops up" And the sister book- http://www.amazon.com/Instant-Expert-Colle...6799&sr=1-2 may also proove handy, for an extra $10! Offshore
  11. It's actually caled Ion coating, although sounds suspiciously like a form of PVD to me. From their FAQ's. Seek and ye shall find! Offshore
  12. Yep, makes it saleable Seriously, it probably adds $50/value, however this is only semantics, as nobody knows its exact value! A bit like , "my car just had a major service... is it worth more?" The final answer, is how much someone pays for it. Offshore
  13. With due deference to my American colleagues! An Aussie and an American, in a bar, are having a heated discussion about countries visited. Finally the gloves come off, and the Yank chops the Aussie across the side of the neck. The big, burly Yank says,
  14. Frankly, with the dial staining, which indicates some water ingress, I would think that to be optimistic. If it was on fleabay, I would think it would struggle to go over $200, but that is just my opinion, and I am a noted tight a*se! Offshore
  15. Have been messing round with watches for a while now, but until the other day, when I received a catalogue from a wholesaler in HK, I never realised how many varieties of spring bars and pins there are. And this lot is just from one manufacturer! So will post these as a reference for anyone who needs to know. OFFSHORE
  16. A quick read through the interview I did with TTK may help as well. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=303434 I really don't know of anyone who consistently takes better shots than him. Offshore
  17. I'm going to be a bit of a naysayer here. Personally I see this only as exactly what the auction business is really like, and about. Look @ fleabay... a "legitimate" auction business, full of shills, dummy bids and misrepresentation. Go to a property auction, the 1st bids are almost always auctioneers bids, or shills. And how many times at the end of an auction have you seen the "last bidder" disappear, and the 2nd last bid be offered back to that bidder. Auctioneers the world over are earning their living from sales, hardly unusual that they will do whatever is needed to effect a sale. Vendors bids, dummy bids, absentee bidders, favoured regular bidders, the list goes on. It is a crapshoot at an auction, and unless a newb bidder is aware of all the "tricks of the trade" he is almost certainly going to get done. This said with more than a passing knowledge of the business, having worked in it for a time.... and having had a very close mate who ran a large onsite auction house for many years. I spent much time in his auction rooms, and saw all sides of the business.... and it can be plain scary when you see the backside of this form of purchasing. But bargains do exist, and whilst they do, the ever hopeful will continue to flock to the doors to try their luck. So this is no real surprise at all. Offshore
  18. Yep! At Ziggy's request, they are viewable by RWG supporters only. (And a bloody good thing IMHO) The info available is worth far more than a subscription here! Again IMHO. Offshore
  19. I only hope I can pick the Lotto numbers as well! Craig Lowndes wins Bathurst 2007... and Ford 1/2/3......time for a rum or 200 to celebrate! An amazing event...again... anyone with the opportunity to watch the highlights, or better still the last hour... just do it. Meanwhile the Offshore household is in celebration mode.
  20. No doubt Brocky was a great driver, probably the best ever....he just chose the wrong marque Fabulous driving skills, are no excuse for poor taste! Offshore
  21. Any one who can get a chance, grab a look at our great race this weekend. Just saw some amazing vision during a support event, with a kangaroo joining in! Actually these things make a mess of your car if you collect one, and this one escaped, although it received a bump. The race however is tomorrow, on a circuit which climbs a mountain and descends.... 6-7 hour endurance event.... 1000kms. A large number of overseas drivers compete, and all are in awe of the circuit when they first go around it. It is a public scenic road at other times. An amazing placee, and event. Go Lowndsey....and Ford! Offshore
  22. Mate, You and I know, there are only two places in this world that needs to go for any work. And your hockey puck is not one! One is Zurich, the other, a lot closer in your region. And one has to be mailed... the other could be hand delivered. I know who I would trust more! Offshore
  23. Totally OT. Last night, a new neighbour knocked on the front door, to introduce himself. As he stood at the doorstep, he belched beer fumes.... I invited him in. Asked him if he would like a beer, and when I got him one, he criticised my taste (but drank it) And as he walked up the driveway, he farted loudly.......gee I thought.... and I was going to invite you to the party next week! Welcome Vince, Hope you become a valued and contributing member, find some good information, and enjoy your time with us. Offshore PS RWI is down for me too!
  24. Probably the point I am trying to get across, is that there is not a "one style does all" press. Different crystal styles require different methods, eg crystal lift, (and there are even different versions/sizes of these) So I would hate to see any new "presser" attempting to press the wrong crystal with the wrong press. I have 6 presses, (and have disposed of 3 others) and at times still don't have exactly the right unit (which I am scouring ebay for) And I don't have one of the screw style, although I acknowledge they probably are more "multifunction" As in a lot of tools, it may have paid to outlay more $$ on the "better" tool to start with, however I am down the track and will make do. But without access to the sort of knowledge in the "Crystal Encyclopedia" the decision is difficult, as information on pressing is thin on the ground. Anyone who needs info from this book, please feel free to PM. ( Please try to explain or desribe the type style of crystal being worked with.... a good list of crystal styles is at G-S Crystals) Offshore
