  1. Hey, V, I think I found the perfect outfit to go with your bright red Swatch...... Congratulations on the new house and best of luck with the renovations!! Removing old wallpaper is a nightmare....
  2. Wait - that makes the fiddy 'stupid big', right
  3. The joke was that if whinging at dealers lowers prices, it will work for the gen manufacturers too! I want a REAL Aquatimer for $200, enough of this fake shit!
  4. Can't you just 'subscribe' to the topic (top right), and then check your subscribed topics from your control panel? Would that work?
  5. The lesson here then is to WHINGE more to your dealers (Well, until they put you on their PM blocklist ) In fact - I have an even better idea! "Dear International Watch Company...."
  6. I'm a paid up member of this club as well. Make hay while the sun shines so they say.... It's easy to put the watch on and then get distracted. Before you know it, it's the afternoon and your watch is on Turkmenistan time!
  7. I never said I was happy with the mark-ups, just pointing out that selling more for less is not necessarily more profitable. To use your own example: If the watch costs the dealer $200, then at $300 they make $100,000 profit, and at $400 they also make $100,000 profit, but it's only half as much work. That would then make good sense for that dealer. The answer for buyers that don't want to pay $400 is then to find a different dealer that will sell it to you for only $300.
  8. Err....don't give up the day job! Big difference between revenue and profitability. (One of the most profitable car makers in the world is Porsche, for example). To bring it back to watches, the other thing to factor in is the dealer's time and effort. For example, say it takes an average one hour of the dealer's time to make each sale. Say he has a $100 watch that he can sell at $150 and make 2 sales. Say he could also charge $200 and make only one sale. Which would you do?
  9. It'll be fine - you'll like it. Yikes! You want to polish up the whole watch?!?!?! Sounds like you'll ruin it trying that.
  10. Possibly (hopefully) that's just Josh's price..... I guess not much to do but wait and cross fingers.
  11. 'Cos that's the name of the models.
  12. Hey, DON'T slow down (!).....a lot of members here are finally living their watch splurge dreams vicariously!! Besides - buying reps is a journey, see Phoband's thread from the past 24 hours. If you started with the fully modded $800 reps, then where is there to go except gens after that? Before you know it, you're the local Patek crazy guy you were talking about. It's about the ride!! Bargain hunt away, because a lot of those watches really ARE bargains. They may not be flavour of the month on the forums (which of course gravitate towards the best of the best), but a lot of them can't be beaten for bang for your buck. Your Patek is a great example of such a watch.
  13. Fantastic write-up!! Looking forward to unveiling of El Skawronek !!
  14. Admit it....you've already gone out and bought the cape, haven't you?
  15. Me too!!!!!!! Seriously though, it's a salutary lesson, if ever it were needed, on the dangers of keeping dog treats in your nether regions..... USE BAGS PEOPLE!!
  16. Interestingly a lot of owners of gens detest double AR and have it taken off - you see this in quite a few TZ sales.
  17. Happy birthday!! What an awesome choice - that Oris is fantastic /accidentally forwards thread to wife as a hint....
  18. Do you have photos? Sounds like an issue of humidity / condensation from when the case was last opened.
  19. I meant on the rest of the watch. With reps a lot of people focus on the longevity of the movement, but there are a lot of other things that can go wrong with a rep before the movement becomes an issue.
