  1. They're Rolex models - you asked about customizing individual watches.
  2. There are two camps on the issue of the movement. Yours is a proper ETA unitas movement I believe, but it doesn't have the swan neck regulator of the gen. But here's the thing - in the reps the swan neck regulator is a Chinese add-on, and anybody that knows to look for a swan neck regulator isn't going to be fooled by the other flaws in the movement - and in any case, what kind of fool is taking their watch off and handing it to a Paneristi trying to pass it off in any case. The point is - on the wrist, you have a great Fiddy with a proper ETA movement that will run and run. Black straps look great on it - perhaps my ideal Fiddy strap would be a 'vintage' strap though.
  3. At last, there is now a special place for you reserved in WIS heaven You has a bucket....!
  4. I think the gas tubes are the make or break on the Ball - you either want them or you don't. I do like the Oris brand in general - they have some great pieces.
  5. Yeah, why bother? I mean, we've all got our subs already! We're done! This release is going to be tough to resist - looking forward to the challenge!
  6. What Tourby says is absolutely right - but in a way the original question still stands, once you strip out all those costs of legitimate business - what is everyone's yardstick for 'value'? Or to put it another way, at what price from a Chinese dropshipper who doesn't have all those costs do you stop and go...hang on, perhaps I should have a quick look in the TZ sales corner....
  7. Okay - it's easier if you ignore their website, it's a bit of a red herring in this discussion. Sellita traditionally finish ETA movements for manufacturers. You know how many brands just have ETA's and then 'finish' them - well, some of them don't even do that bit, Sellita does it for them. The only reason we can still get ETA movements is because Sellita (and others) started an anti-trust action against ETA and won - which is why they are being phased out. So the 2824 you linked to in the other thread is a finished ETA movement. It is an ETA movement. As Pugwash said, when people say they got a 'Sellita' it means they got the new SW200. This is Sellita's answer to the ETA movements being phased out and it is already used in many genuine Swiss watches. In fact it is in essence a 'Swiss' copy of the ETA movement since the many of the patents on that movement have expired. The SW200's will exist in reps because they're being used in gens. The parts are not interchangeable, but I believe that the movements are swappable. And get this....in the next few years Sellita are planning a 7750 competitor.
  8. Nice find! Could be interesting. Now, what kind of strap do you think would go best with it?!
  9. Why, are you making conversation or preparing an indictment? I think the IWC Ingy is out of this world in terms of quality. Nearly every review of the Breitling SFSO talks of its impressive quality, also of the latest Panerai Ferraris', although I have neither.
  10. I think by even 100 posts Stephane had a collection to eclipse most!! By 2000 posts perhaps he'll have the ultimate accolade....."Tanfoglio"!! Congrats on all the great posts and fantastic photos! On a lighter note, your 'meating Paul McCartney' thread is one of the forum's classics
  11. lello - you are a legend! Really impressive progress.
  12. Unfortunately this is one of the more expensive reps out there - it's at the high end in terms of quality. The good news is - you obviously have an eye for the very best
  13. Wow! Okay - so I've bought my WWII depth gauge.....Paneristi here I come - I'll do them for $550!
  14. Yeah, cutting the crusts off is hard! I'm looking forward to the Kingsmill sandwich sized loaf that saves you cutting it in half! Back to the song - how many bands do you think intentionally create album fillers with a view to landing ad spots? Do you know what I mean when you listen to chorus like "what a fun drive!" or Coldplay's latest song is called "Cabriolet" or something....
  15. Okay here's a new FRIDAY question!!! Below are seven synonyms of the keyword RIGID. Take one letter in turn from the seven synonyms to spell out a further synonym of the keyword RIGID: harsh, rigorous, stern, stringent, severe, strict, set
  16. It is D - he wins!!!! Not a tester, but you're right these are Mensa style questions. The problem is finding questions people can't just google, we started off with brain teasers I had from a board game - interestingly after a while all those kinds of questions develop a pattern. A couple of months ago I found a book with a range of questions that I was too lazy to do anything with But these questions come from that. Incidentally - the thread is also a chance for any of you lurkers out there to step out from the shadows and give it a go too!!!!! C'mon!!
  17. This is the watch speaking loudest to me at the moment..... I think it'll be a winning choice
  18. Is it made of platinum?!?! I'm bewildered....you would thing having 'SHT' on your buckle would be less valuable....
  19. The latter. The 'VIP membership' name maybe needs to be changed because it gives the impression that it's about 'perks' or getting something. It just means you chipped in for the running costs of the server, which in turn keeps the forum running for everyone.
  20. I think Marmite is actually a perfect example of why they have got this one wrong. I'm talking specifically about the last three seconds of the ad. The Marmite campaign is love/hate - as in, people that buy Marmite are supposed to love it. Skoda had very specific image problems (the brand was hated) that they took head on (buoyed on by the fact that their cars are actually Volkswagens). So onto....Kingsmill bread. You are supposed to hate the crusts but love the bread. They have successfully communicated the hate the crusts part, but I think it has gone pear-shaped on the love the bread bit. In those last three seconds, when the product has been revealed, and the on-screen message they are trying to convey is "Love bread. Love Kingsmill" the voice is going "I don't like it, no, no, no". One of the 'takes' from that critical parting message is not "I don't like crusts", it's "I don't like Kingsmill bread". Just my two cents worth....
  21. The good news is.....you saved yourself a bundle asking here Yeah, run for the hills from that place. Welcome
  22. I like the song! But I think it takes a special kind of eejit to put "I don't like it no, no, no" as a parting message over a visual of the product
  23. Nice - it definitely gives it a whole different appeal.
  24. Happy Birthday!! The orange PO is fantastic!
