I'm going to AC for 4 days Friday through Monday. My first time there. I'll be staying in a town north of Newark Friday night and going to the Borgata Saturday to play some poker for a couple days. Anyone have any suggestions on a good place to eat, shop or look at watches? I am planning to stop by White House subs for the world's best sandwich If anyone will be around I will be happy to meet for a drink on saturday at the Borgata. If you want to play poker with me bring lots of cash, or I may consider watches.

You have to be a hardcore collector to buy that. I guess if you are hard core enough to spend $60k on a NOS 6263 then it makes sense. I want to know where people get all this money to throw away?

i won a watch winder on ebay this weekend! woohoo
jfreeman420 replied to cableguy's topic in General Discussion
All my watches are bracelets. They fit snug with a little pressure and pulling the bracelet tight before snugging up the insert to the edge of the slot. -
I'm not sure about that one. The site says it is 37mm but I thought the gen was 34mm. If it is indeed 34mm I believe it would take 19mm.

Yes be caregul whith the watches next to eachother on the winder. They tend to shift while it turns and I learned the hard way you can end up with a nasty scratch on the case. What I do is stagger the watches crowns to the outside and make sure they are pushed to the opposite sides of the sleeve that holds the watch. Push them in tight as they are only held by pressure and you shouldnt have a problem. -
Snap out of it man!!!! What the hell? At least go to the mall and buy some kind of $30 jobbie to keep on your wrist. I could not imagine not having at least one watch. I have worn a watch every day since I got my first Mickey Mouse at 7 years old. This is unbelieveable.

I have a similiar one only the 8 + 12 model. Works great, only the spots fill up fast and its hard to decide which watches to keep on the winder. I try to keep all my chronos and day dates wound all the time. It's about time for another box for me. I hate buying a new box because I can't stand having an empty slot. What a dilemma. -
Very nice. Did IWC ever make this or something similiar with an acrylic crystal? Just wondering if this is done all for personal taste or because there wa a vintage model similiar.

I have a few. Pm me your address and I will drop them in the mail. Also let me know what shade of gold you need. A pic of the watch will be helpful. Also how many?

5500 is a vintage model. All the modern Rolexes have 20mm lug width. The only other vintage with 19mm lugs is the 6263/6265 and the date models.

Does anybody know what the hell Turtle is wearing? I like it. Headed to the AD as soon as I find out -
The only CD and DVD players I have owned is Sony. I don't like any of Sony's other components but their players always serve me well. I have a 5 disc cd/dvd changer with progressive scan and I couldn't be happier. Also the prices are great. I don't feel that you get much better performance from the more expensive models. The next step up would be in the $1,500 range.

Great reference Ken. There is always some jerk trying to sell fake Cuban's here in South Florida. The authentication section is great.

I say go for a full sleeve with a tattoo of a watch on the wrist. I have a half sleeve and am working on the second and my back. I keep all my tatts under a short sleeve shirt. Nothing past the elbow.

Screw down crown is difficult to....screw down
jfreeman420 replied to ratchpot's topic in Movement Q&A
Before screwing it in try to push it in a little harder so it disengages from the winding mode and srcew it in then. This happens on several of my watches and you just have to have a little more patience for it to disengage. -
Here in the US it is illeagal to call any gold less than 10K as solid gold. So all you can buy here is 10K and above. I know in Europe and Australia 9ct is very popular. With gold prices the way they are the King of Bling is frustrated looking for the perfect deal on a new piece. I would be forever greatful if someone could point me in the right direction where I can purchase a large anchor link or puffed mariner/gucci chain 24" to 30" long and 8mm to 12mm wide in 9ct solid gold. Semi-hollow links preferably. i am looking for a really good deal and something around 100 grams or better. Scrap for 14k is about $13 per gram and 10K is about $10. Obviously 9ct will be cheaper. If anyone knows of a good jeweler or pawn shop that sells by the gram and close to scrap price I would be happy to send you a nice gift. Here's a pic of a puffed gucci.

where has all the real discussion gone?
jfreeman420 replied to thewightstuff's topic in General Discussion
I'm really tired of these posts. It reminds me of the telemarketers I have been hiring in my phone rooms over the last 8 or 10 years: They start out their first day excited and learn the new deal. For teh first couple of months they do well and make lots of sales and money. After the three month mark they start complaining about how the leads used to be better, the deal sucks this that, everything is wrong except THEM. Meanwhile everthing is exactly the same and their attitude has changed. maybe it's human psychology that turns routine to appearing stagnant. I for one think everything here is just as good as it was on the original board RWCC. The only difference is it's better. more posts than ever more watches and more quality and more members. When you have more posts and more members you are going to have more stuff you don't want to read and you have more to sift through to get to that little nugget that will excite you about visiting that day. Keep everything in perspective. -
Which watch do you regret selling (and wish you had again)?
jfreeman420 replied to ubiquitous's topic in General Discussion
Wish I still had my TW best Seadweller. Also wish I hadn't sold my gen single quick sapphire YG day date with the bark finish. The watch had a lot of character. I would also like to have another two tone Cartier Chronoflex. Nice dressy watch. Not my pics but you get the idea. -
They made a running seconds at six daytona. Why can't they flip around the transfer gears and make the seconds at 12?
-
Not a very good replica. The new gmt master II has a ceramic bezel insert where the numbers are raised. Rolex changed the crown guards to be thicker more like the daytona and polished. I'm not sure if that clasp is correct. I know they changed it to the rolesor style clasp but the crown should probably be on the longer part of the clasp. Nice watch but not near an accurate rep. At least you are trying for something different than a sub. I would love to have an accurate gold version of this one.

It is made especially for the Air King Datejust.

Hoff is David Hasselhoff. I think the question is who has the BEST thread, no?
