  1. The hour hand still has no problems clearing the dial...
  2. You're making a Heuer Camaro rep???
  3. Sorry to hear that, but DW could have sent you a 94XX case by mistake, which fits a 7750 and is smaller than a 7734. Try fitting a 7750 into the case.
  4. freddy...that is a good point! I guess my fyi would be for lazy guys like me that already spent countless hours trying to align the date with the window!!! alligoat...yes sir...
  5. I've been having problems with my date function advancing on my franken Rolex Date. After many tear downs, it seems that the date flips properly without the gen dial in place, but yet the date advance sticks with the gen dial installed. I eventually determined that the datewheel overlay is higher than the dial rest of my ETA 2824. With this in mind, I found a solution to resolving this issue and it involves the dial rest from the ETA 277X movements. They are solid semi circles, unlike the 2824 ones that are thin full circles. I discovered that the the height of the 277x dial rests are a tad taller than the 2824 ones and this resolved the sticking or rubbing issue that I previously had. What I simply did is bend the two 277x dial rests a bit and test fitted them on my 2824. Then I epoxied them onto the movement...one up and one down. Here are some pics... Notice how much higher the dial rest sits above the date wheel overlay... Now with the gen dial reinstalled, just enough space so that the date wheel rotates freely, but not wide enough that it leaves an unsightly gap... I checked on CousinsUK on the cost of the 277x dial rests and they sell them for about $6.30 each, yes they are pricey, but at least it is a solution to the date wheel sticking and not advancing...
  6. Nice! I have to get on the executive "Ubi please build me a watch" list some how....
  7. I believe that the newer crystals tend to have the bevelled edge, while the older ones were rounded...it depends on your preference...
  8. Looking good LH! Plus the sheild looks pretty straight now...love the 7836 bracelet on mine also...another great project from the House of M!
  9. Thanks for the suggestions guys! That is what I'll do...rep bracelet and then swap over to the plastic bezel. If I like the SS bracelet, then I'll go to a gen clasp...
  10. Just kidding! F! Probably one of my favorite PN dials...very nice!!! As for the case...I would just wear it lots...best way to age a case quickly...especially when working in the garden with it...
  11. Thanks for the suggestions guys! Plastic bezel...you guys are making me work aren't you? The gen bezel is actually a tad too small to fit on the case, so I will have to do further mods...but hey...I think I agree with you guys in that the SS bezel just doesn't do it, especially if I go to an SS bracelet. It would be...to much SS!!! LH...you mentioned that a gen bracelet MAY not work on the rep, do you know for sure...because I did find a cheapo gen one that I can refinish on fleabay.. jmb...you are the Lord of the Lathe...thanks my friend!
  12. I love the Speedmaster...in fact...gen Speedys are relatively inexpensive to acquire and you don't have to feel like you spent an "arm and leg" buying a beautiful, well built, timepiece. The rep has a main fault, in that the sub-dial spacing is innaccurate. So I challanged myself to see if I could build a franken Speedy for a reasonable price. This was a task in itself because a gen on the secondary market are relatively inexpensive. Let's see what I came with... What bothered me is that almost every wrist that has a Speedy on it tend to have the typical black dial (sorry if I offended any gen Speedy owners!!!) I always like something a little different. I liked the old MkII Speedmasters, particularily the ones with the "exotic dial"... I know...I know...you'll say..."that dial is just way too busy!" But I like the color combo used on this dial. It's not a shocker to that I like the 1655 and also the PN Ferrari Red Daytona. What I don't really like about the MkII is the tonneau shaped case. One day I ran into this Speedy... This model is a limited Japanese market 3570.40 Speedmaster in which only 2004 (corresponds to year) were made. Another reason I was motivated to build a franken Speedy was that I had a Tissot PR516 with a Lemania 1861. I got it at a steal of price, but unfortunately it was too small for my wrist. I proceed to find a rep case to house the movement and a forum member was kind enough to offer up his Broad Arrow project. So I proceeded to acquire the gen dial, hands, and movement ring and did a test fit, only to realize that the rehaut opening on the rep was too narrow and covered the "Swiss Made" on the dial! I proceeded to widen the rehaut opening by hand. Of course, the opening wouldn't be "true" enough, I obviously didn't think about that before hand I have met a lot of great members on RWG and was fortunate enough to tap into the machining talents of JMB. I asked if JMB would be able to "true" up the rehaut opening for me... He was more than willing to try and he did a fantastic job! The rehaut was rounded perfectly! Notice the difference in size of the rep to the gen crown. There after, I proceeded to acquire the rest of the case parts...gen crystal, inner anti-mag cover, gen crown and gen case back. Once again I was lucky enough to buy the case back from a member on a forum and got a great deal. I had to do some minor modifications to the case, in that the chrono pusher posts were too long, so I filed them down to the proper length. The Broad Arrow case had a metal bezel and I've decided to test drive it for now, but I did buy a gen plastic bezel from the same member that sold me the case back This is the final result... Speedy on shark skin NATO...FINALLY...no sub-dial issues!! So was it worth it or should I have just bought a gen and swapped out the dial? Considering that a gen Speedy sells for about $1400-$2500, now included about $400 the exotic dial and hands, I think this project was definitely worth it! What are members thoughts on this? Should I go to the plastic bezel? Should I swap to a metal bracelet also? Maybe a rep metal strap with a gen clasp? BTW...big thanks to JMB on this project and if you ever want to build a franken Speedy (a Snoopy maybe or a Moon to Mars??)...don't hesitate to contact him to get the rehaut opening on the rep widened. Thanks for looking!!!
  13. Dizzy...if you want a sheet of dial strips...send me a PM...I'm in Canada also... offshore...is your tape the same as this? If so, I'm going to pick some up! http://www.uline.ca/BL_6063/3M-F9460PC-VHB-Adhesive-Transfer-Tape
  14. No worries...I'm here to share information. But the insert would be an easy swap to gen...I was more concerned that the bezel assembly you got from ewatchparts was proper. Looking good my friend!
  15. Frank! That is looking good so far! I'm still waiting for my bezel assembly...did you order it from ewatchparts? If so, what are you impressions of it?
  16. That is freakin insane mark-up! justasgood...can you adopt me so that I can be apart of you family?
  17. woohoo!!! My Username and password still works!
  18. Dang J! That Tudor is looking better and better each day! I like what you've been doing to it! Goes to show what you can accomplish when you have the right tools to do the job. My lug holes would have looked like a gopher hole with the tools I have!!
  19. It's actually not bad...the dial is wrong though...it should say "Prince Oysterdate", but otherwise looks like a nice pickup! I believe that Tudor movements were not as decorated as the one in your pic, so I don't believe that it is a gen movement, but I have known to be wrong in many occasions (or so my wife tells me!).
  20. alligoat...I have an extra cartel 623x case. I'm going to try and use the bezel on it for a completely different application. If it doesn't work and will fit on the DW...it's yours...
  21. Even with the bezel, that DW is looking dang fine!!!
