  1. R...I can't imagine what you would come up with if you did have some dedicated time to a project! Plus I'm blown away on how you are able to consistently source gen parts! Great piece once again!!
  2. J! Depend on the movement, I just might have one handy to get it going so you don't have to fix it, so throw that in also!
  3. freddy...I can understand where you are coming from...there are plenty of shady dealers on the 'Bay! I appreciate that you are watching other members backs by questioning the validity of items!!!! This is what RWG is all about!!!
  4. Freddy man...please tell us why you believe that it might be aftermarket? Because based on the coronet, the "R" in Rolex, the spacing of the "II", and the thicker markers, I believe it to be a very late 80's...early 90's dial. The back of the dial has two indents, most likely for the extra gears for a 3185. Dial feet are in the correct location, but this doesn't really mean anything... I've never seen anyone sell an after market 16570 dial before and if it's a redial, it's a really good job!
  5. I see that the vendor used the same crappy dial on the 1655 that the Josh and Andrew uses on their new 1655...or is it the other way around...hhhmmm...very interesting.... Love the gold cosmos though!!!
  6. Thanks everyone! ByTor...looking at this dial, now I can truly understand what you mean't about the importance of the black markers and how it should match the hands. The contrast is striking! The dial also has a slight creamy patina to it, which is a bonus!
  7. Won this on FartBay recently!!! The orginal auction pics weren't that good, so I took a chance. It looks like the dial itself is in very good shape, except for the lume! I guess it's time I brush up on my luming skills... Anyone have suggestions of which type of lume I should go with and where I can purchase it? Thanks everyone!
  8. OP...throw up some pics! The resident experts will definitely help you out to make a sound decision on the work needed!
  9. come on man...I'm taking a smoke break...
  10. Show off!! So when are you taking me out for a beer so I can ogle at it in person?
  11. Great guy to deal with, I've bought 4 dials from him so far and more soon. His dials are for Rolex movements...if you want to fit them on an ETA, you will need to obviously snip the dial feet off. His packages, so far, all come from Thailand and not from China. A great alternative source for dials...
  12. Very cool! As much as a traditionalist that I am, this piece makes a great statement as to the vision and ingenuity of some of forum members. Though I agree that the 1030 is an overkill, it can be parted out at any time. Almost everyone can make a rep look gen by replacing and modifying parts. But it takes ingenuity for someone to create a Rolex that looks like something that the lead character from Fallout would wear!!! pbdad...how about throwing this sucker on a wide, thick leather NATO with a UTC module????
  13. I actually have the InGod dial...if you examine it really closely, it has an open six... This the close up of his E-Bay pic
  14. Flex...I believe the InGod dial is based off the Mark III, not the Mark IV...but I'm not the resident Rolex expert... In any case...as flex mentioned...it is hard to find a very accurate dial...there are always some flaw, big or small...
  15. Yuki is now selling the bracelets seperately...a little pricey, but they are listed...
  16. m...that is a rep... The 7922 BC is rarer than the 6538. Tudor also has more military history than Rolex. What is even more interesting is that the 7922 with the small crown is very rare. Here is an older pic of my 7922 with the unaged hands, they have since been aged to match the dial...
  17. A little paint run on the "ft" ubi...it's of no use now...give it to me... :whistling: Nah...awesome project!!!!
  18. N...joking aside...you are correct...it is the thrill of the chase! I have been keeping my eye out on a couple of 9315's, but most of the time I forget to bid or to put my bid in with auctionstealer. So really...can't blame anyone but me! Thanks for the suggestions btw!!!
  19. You still suck N...yes..I am still currently green with envy...
  20. That does look cool Ubi...now you are going to need to build a custom phantom sub!!! Try doing the same aging process with a dial, hoping that the lettering stays and then use black hands!
  21. Did Steve McQueen actually own one? I knew that he owned a sub (5512) and wore a Heuer Monaco, but I thought him owning a 1655 was an urban Rolex myth?
  22. gpl...below is my franken 1655 with an NDT dial...if you click on the Maron photo and focus on the "II" and the "T SWISS < T is exactly the same. The "II" is slightly exaggerated as compared to the size of the "Explorer" text. Unfortunately that is an aftermarket dial...the rest of the watch might be original...but not the dial...
  23. Am I wrong? But didn't all small (square) hour indices almost touch the rehaut on the 1655? Because every picture I've seen of a gen 1655 had this trait. In addition, I think the "T SWISS T" is a little small in scale. I'm wondering if the factory actually picked a franken by mistake to use in the replication process!?!?!!? Here is a scan from my Japanese Rolex Encyclopedia...notice the small square hour indices touching the rehaut...
