  1. Ken at Rafflestime has hands for the DG movements. I think they ar OK. Clark's crystals do have the correct mag.
  2. No, the hands are not interchangeable. The ETA 2846 is not a GMT movement. It would have to be modded as the ETA 2836-2 is modded to have a GMT function. The only designed GMT ETA movement is the ETA 2893-2.
  3. The DG3804b 21j is a GMT movement by design, slow beat, and has become well respected for it's function and durability. When it's time for a full service you just remove it, hit it with a hammer and buy a brand spanking new one for $25 from Otto Frei or one of the other supply houses, with a guarantee. None of mine are noisy, but they are new from Frei and not from the factories that tend to be not so clean in their work. It might need a bit of lubricant. I don't know of any ETA slow beat that is currently made, but the ETA 2846 is still available in NOS from some suppliers. Smith's Supply has them at a very good price, but they misused my credit card, so be careful with them. I converted an ETA 2846 to GMT, but the parts to convert are strictly Chinese, ETA never converted movements to GMT having only the ETA 2893-2 GMT in their line, and I was fortunate enough to have a few members here with extra parts I used.
  4. You can find the mod to eliminate the middle click here http://www.rwg.cc/topic/140936-how-to-mod-a-eta-2846-2/page__hl__2846__fromsearch__1 I removed the day and date wheels on my ETA 2846 and all related parts, and it works great!
  5. There is no verification available of the rumor that in the movie, Ice Station Zebra, Hudson was wearing Jim Nabors' underwear.
  6. Nope, it's a 6542. I'd recognize that insert anywhere...
  7. Apparently after investing in a white dial Rolex 6542, and then reading this thread, a Jetblue pilot had a very bad reaction. If he had only noticed the spelling...
  8. I trust Melvin. http://www.rwg.cc/to...__fromsearch__1
  9. I fully understand that you have just as much 'proof' that a white dial 6542 was never made by Rolex as many others have that it was made by Rolex. If you want to pretend that you are right and those others are wrong, please do carry on with your nonsensical "arguments" in that light.
  10. How are "non existing facts" different than :"stories" or "speculation"? Oh, and it's more than just one "fancy person" who share the opinion that Rolex did make the white dial 6542.
  11. http://www.smithsupplyhouse.com/memo.html
  12. Ah, but it is a genuine 'JoeyB' bezel insert! (accept no substitutes!)
  13. I think Clark's crystals are the best to use. Top quality, I can't tell them from a gen, and the price is very fair.
  14. If you use Smith, keep an eye on your credit card.
  15. This thread might help. http://www.rwg.cc/topic/143076-is-there-anything-special-about-the-eta-2846/page__hl__%2Beta+%2B2846__fromsearch__1
  16. How come none of them in the clip were on their knees searching for wayward parts? When the rep comes out the room in the case would make a nice place for a small stash.
  17. For High School graduation my Mother gave me a Bulova watch and I had the jeweler put the Speidel 'Twist-O-Flex' band on it. Being a young Greek with very hairy arms, I didn't wear it much because it did pinch a lot. After my 1st tour to Vietnam I lost all the hair from my waist down and all my extremities. Problem solved. There's always a bright side...
  18. Well done! I'd suggest aluminum tubing to make a sleeve for the tube. You might even be able to find the right diameter that is red anodized in an automotive application. Aren't those decals fun! I'm not as talented as you are, so all of mine look 'vintaged'!
  19. It's beautiful! And it needs one of these
  20. I really like the onyx dial. I have the day-date gold President in onyx for dress.
  21. I have yet to have a single failure with Clark's tubes.
  22. There is a difference between patents and copyrights, design properties and infringement. Legitimate companies have made similar design copies, but not exact. If they could, Rolex and the rest would go after the far east, it's just not feasible. But machine a 6538 or 5513 case in the U.S. for volume sales and you will find yourself in court. No one is going to bother with the one-of, or the relatively small replica collector. Profiting from someone else's creation is the issue, the infringement is the same. That was the point in the thread about freddy333's 6542 white dial being a genuine Rolex rather than a replica. Replicas and even frankens are copies and infringe on creative rights of another. freddy's watch has an aftermarket bezel insert, but everything else is genuine Rolex design and manufacture, and is no infringement of intellectual creative rights. As I said before, machining a case is quite difficult as everyone pointed out. To justify the expense and time would take volume sales, and volume sales will get counterfeiting charges.
