TAG Heuer Spiro! A good pick up!
marrickvilleboy replied to marrickvilleboy's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
It does look quite similar to the Seikos, especially given the crown position around 4 o clock. The Spirotechniques TAGs are actually very hard to come by now, I haven't a listing on eBay for months now. I'm actually in the process of trying to build a vintage Heuer diver from odd parts - will share it with you guys in due time. -
Tudor with a problem, can someone help?
marrickvilleboy replied to Hans1974's topic in General Discussion
+1 to this. There is a cover on the hour wheel in a 2836, whereas not on the 2824 -
please dont post duplicate threads for the same topic. Like Automatico said, its likely a high beat asian movement - $150-200 at best.

Have a laugh...you know you want these.

well at least he isnt selling it for $4.5K haha -
JMB '1016' case vs a genspec dial...
marrickvilleboy replied to automatico's topic in The Rolex Area
Would have thought gluing a dial to another dial increases the height needed for the hour wheel, minute wheel, etc to pass. Are you guys not experiencing this issue? -

Why do Reps get the Date Height Wrong Most of the Time
marrickvilleboy replied to jester69's topic in General Discussion
mass producers also target mass consumers whom don't really nitpick as much as we do. The incremental cost for the added "realism" prolly doesn't make their ROI worthwhile -
?? did you contact Ronin per his generous offer? you cant access WTB section since you're not a supporter

I agree with Alli here - first impression seems to suggest this isn't genuine.

looking good. A couple of comments: 1) probably should have used a 2846 so you didnt have to clip the feet. 2) what happened to the original bezel insert? (with the fat font) - they tend to look better though maybe you are after the serviced look.

TAG Heuer Spiro! A good pick up!
marrickvilleboy replied to marrickvilleboy's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
thanks for the comments guys. Yes - havent seen these on eBay for a while now - think they are all in the hands of collectors now. -
Picked up this watch from a private seller recently. Thought I paid a fair price. Decent condition but the crystal may need a buffing. You can see how fat the case is also. Quite happy with it! Here's a bit of history on the watch. https://heuerville.wordpress.com/2012/06/17/tag-heuer-spirotechnique-180-023/

fine wine indeed...

Panerai said it spot on - Seikos are still considered a pretty standard Japanese watch with no real luxury appeal to the broader public. I have definitely seen replica Seikos before. For example, I'm not sure if its still available but Silix was selling rep Seikos: http://www.silix-prime.so/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=116_275&products_id=3422 He also had some divers but for the price, you may as well buy the genuine piece.

Unlikely for $60 - if you can find good condition 16610 inserts for $60, i'll buy them off you everyday. Try $100-120

100% in love W/ this Prototype Red Sub Dial
marrickvilleboy replied to UmpaHimself's topic in The Rolex Area
clean I agree but I think diver watches need the chapter - both from a practical and cosmetic level. -
"Refinished gen dial" - what does it mean?
marrickvilleboy replied to ogladio's topic in The Rolex Area
Believe refinished could either mean 'repainted on a genuine similar size dial plate' or 'repainted on same reference genuine dial plate" -
