  1. i believe chieftang posted that he is going to be pretty busy over the next several months & he may or may not have time to do a new run during this period....do not fear though -- he assured that there will be future runs.... as always, patience is the name of the game w/ our reps.... deltatahoe
  2. have a great time nanuq; don't forget your crampons deltatahoe
  3. i'll throw a couple different ones into the mix...i have a 7" wrist; i'm lucky that it is wide & flat....helps accomodate bigger watches without them looking too ridiculous... omega speedmaster "moon" watch on custom velcro strap iwc pilot's watch 3717 deltatahoe
  4. awesome job ziggy -- she's a beauty time to email j and get on the schedule for one of these.... deltatahoe
  5. those are the one you want (double f l a n g e). they are 22mm -- the measurement is just shown in both in mm's (22mm) and inches (7/8"). deltatahoe
  6. the PAV 91 is one of the best to be sure.....our resident strap collector V likes to taunt us with these beauties like these (click here for his PAV thread).... deltatahoe
  7. you want the 1.8mm springbars -- they will prevent the strap from flexing away from the case. go to www.julesborel.com and search for 1.8mm 22mm springbars. you'll find them. deltatahoe
  8. i'm no modern sub expert, but rehaut looks really nice and crown guards don't look half bad either.... will be interesting to see what the experts say deltatahoe
  9. i'm sporting the costeau diver today...
  10. this was one of the things that pushed me over the edge -- i feel like this watch is really good relative value. where else can you get a genuine diver rated to 2k meters with a GMT movement for less than $2k? deltatahoe
  11. this is sad news nanuq -- i think i might just break out into tears if this were to happen to my dw 6362 i'm sure ziggy would be happy to help. i'm curious, was the crown & tube genuine? if so, this is really too bad. if not, look on the bright side -- your dw daytona just got an upgrade either way, i'm sure you will sort it out... deltatahoe
  12. andrew's version does NOT come superlumed....
  13. uh oh....looks like you've got a growing case of paneraitis have you considered the pam 232? there is a good thread about it here.... deltatahoe
  14. as discussed in my thread here, i recently purchased a genuine sinn u2. one thing i've always found interesting is the "genuine watches don't have any of the quality control and other issues that replica watches have" myth that certain people around here like to spread as an argument to why we shouldn't be wasting our money on replica watches. in reality, genuine watches do have many of the issues that our reps have, and it is generally much more costly and time consuming to have these issues fixed. after wearing my sinn u2 for a couple days, i realized that the date wasn't squarely centered in the date window (it was "high" in the window); look closely at the picture below. i figured it wasn't too badly misaligned so i decided to just let it be and see if it corrected itself. when the same thing happened the next day, although more pronounced, i decided to see if possibly i just needed to reset the date to get it to align properly. so i circled through the dates using the quick-set function, and manually went through the hours as if setting the time, and the same thing happened again. essentially what is happening (i've tried this twice, and it seems to be happening consistently, at least on these dates) is the date comes part-way down into the window at midnight, then at 21:00 hours (ie. 9:00 pm), it centers in the date window. then at midnight it comes part way down into the window, and subsequently (21 hours later) at 9:00 pm it centers in the window again. i emailed ziggy about this, and this was his response (the expert ziggy helpful as always): ---------------------- The datewheel change gear on the 2893-2 is a small spring loaded tab. This tab is triangle shaped, and it engages the datewheel and starts to apply pressure, as the time approaches 12am, the pressure builds up in the spring, and eventually the spring pressure is greater than the set spring, and the date changes over. Once it snaps into place, the only thing touching the datewheel is the set spring. What you describe to me, is that either the spring is not strong enough or the wheel is hanging up. The reason that the date centers at 2100 is that at that time, the changeover gear spring tab has just re-engaged into the datewheel, and this pressure is enough to move the wheel a small amount and center it into the spring. Not sure if that makes sense. It's not going to fix itself, so best to have it looked at while under warranty. Hope this helps. Cheers, Ziggy ---------------------- now if one of my reps was having this problem, i would just pack it up and send it to ziggy for him to take care of the problem, but given it is still under warranty, combined with the fact this watch case is filled with argon (and therefore really cannot be worked on by anyone other than sinn), that isn't really an option. so i have to go through the hassle of sending my watch to germany to be worked on my sinn, which could take several months. i was fortunate to have purchased the watch from an honest, reliable seller, who refunded me a portion of the purchase price of the watch given this issue. however, the fact still remains that it is going to be a relatively long, drawn out process to get my watch fixed. anyways, i figured i would post about my experience to dispell myths about genuine watches never having problems -- it simply isn't true -- these are mechanical, automatic watches, and even watches with genuine ETA movements (the sinn u2 has an ETA 2893-2 inside), can have the same issues as our reps. deltatahoe
  15. like so many others here, i've been interested in watches since i was a little kid. however, my interest in watches has grown immensely since a year or so ago when i started poking around the web looking for a decent replica breitling watch and found RWG. at this point, there is no denying the fact that i have a serious watch addiction so it didn't come as a big surprise that i eventually became interested in a unique, genuine watch like the sinn u2. i started tracking ebay and TZ for prices on a lightly used u2 several months ago, and finally snagged a sinn u2 in like new condition for a nice price a couple weeks ago. buying a used watch online was a little nerve racking -- similar to waiting for that first rep to arrive, but with significantly larger dollars at stake . however, the watch arrived two days after making payment, and everything about the watch was in perfect condition. i absolutely love the watch -- it sits really nicely on the wrist, has an easily readable dial and simple design, the thick rubber strap helps keep the watch nice & secure, and given it is made out of submarine steel, it's virtually indestructable (unless of course your wife attacks you with an explorer 1 rep). anyways, enough discussion about the watch -- let's see some pictures and finally, a wrist shot to anyone considering the sinn u2, don't think twice about buying one -- it is a really nice piece that will probably never be repped (argon filled submarine steel case, dehumidifying capsules and relatively reasonable genuine price are all deterrents). thanks for looking deltatahoe ps, did anyone notice something odd about the first picture? see my thread here for the answer and a discussion
  16. sounds like you haven't had much luck at all...on the whole i've been pretty fortunate; i've had a problem here or there, but my dealer has always made things right.... deltatahoe
  17. time for the steelfish to go back to the dealer for a free replacement
  18. hmm...to be honest i think they both look good in their own way.... i agree with willith -- the tan strap will continue to look better once it ages a bit. however, for some reason i feel like the black strap works better with the big buckle -- maybe b/c it originally came on a black kevlar strap & it feels like more of a utilitarian buckle (or something like that ).... either way, i think it's worth keeping the buckle just don't let delaurian know you're using his "PATENTED EASY GLIDE SYSTEM" deltatahoe
  19. this is good news post pics of the watch if/when you receive it so we can celebrate deltatahoe
  20. i thought this was the case, but figured i would respond just in case. believe it or not, i just received the strap 5 minutes ago; it looks great V -- i can't wait to try it on my 112h thanks for the incredibly fast turnaround
  21. i'm pretty sure pugwash's version isn't the update version (his has the high beat new asian 7750)....i have the initial EL version as well, and the lume is above average for this one....the lume is only on the 3/6/9/12 markers and the hands, but it glows pretty well after getting charged up.....i can't comment on the 'lasting power' of the lume -- i haven't really checked to see if it lasts very long... hope this helps, deltatahoe
  22. hi V, i forgot to reply to this thread....this one will be going on my 112h, so go ahead and send it out... definitely something to think about in the future though... deltatahoe
  23. audi allroad here.....great, versatile car....it's a wagon with class...... deltatahoe
  24. you must have some really big wrists.....have you had someone measure the costeau strap for you to see if it would fit? i feel like it would be pretty big on the last hole on the strap..... deltatahoe
  25. sounds like you've got yourself one nice navitimer fyi, the extra dollars to mod the 063 will also be money well spent. i recommend waiting for a ziggy lume job (assuming he'll do the work for you at this point) -- nobody does sausage dials better. here's my 063 (chieftang cyclops, finepics datewheel, ziggy relume): deltatahoe
