One of my all time favourite cars. I saw a DB9 earlier, and whilst I think they are beautiful cars, it would not have the same neck jerking reaction from me that the DB5 would get. A true classic!
I was looking at this, I would double check with Angus, because it is quite possible the AR coating he refers to is the same that comes on the Sapphire galls of the UPO, which would mean it is an inner coating only, it seems a very cheap upgrade for sapphire and a double AR coating, but it's worth checking
Unfortunately By-tor, this is the basic lay out movement, I am pretty certain we can be safe in the knowledge the world won't end, it is unlikely we'll ever see a good datefont made for the chrono version
@ F15DOC, I am in total admiration of your job, and what you do for your country. I won't go into detail here but my goal was always to join the RAF as a pilot. I really take my hat off to the job you guys do, it's hard work, and at a time when we are fighting battles all over the globe, with resources being stretched to their limits, never has it been so evident how highly professional the US and UK military personnel are.
The military (speaking for the RAF and RN Fleet Air Arm here in the UK) have links with Breitling, and you can go to Breitling with a design, and have it custom made as long as they have at least 50 watches to produce.
As far as I know they all come from the same case moulding. I would go for Ruby's one, as this has the best dial I have seen. On top of that you would need a gen bezel, Lello Datewheel, and a double AR coating.
I would also go with the POC genuine, and buy the SMP Chrono replica, makes mre sense that way aroud. The POC is a magnificent looking watch, especially in black with white numbers!
Nice post! In years to come, we could even see the rise of the chinese movements making into genuines, I feel the balance is beginning to shift from quality issues to marketing issues that are preventing such a shift at the moment....?
This is indeed a tricky situation, because as far as they know, it's a genuine watch that is trying to pass through customs at a lesser value. If it was truly being returned due to servicing, why would it be sent uninsured with a 70 dollar price tag....and you can't explain it has been sent like this because it is a rep otherwise they'll keep it. As has been mentioned try making up a service receipt, but I personally wouldn't hold my breath, its the gamble we take in buying reps unfortunately. If you can send it back without paying customs charges try that.
The SOSF feels very much like a genuine watch, it is very robust. I have never handles the Chopard, but the 60USD could be a mix of demand, and also the build quality. The SOSF is one of the best made watches I have handled. It doesn't come with AR, but I believe that an AR coating can be added to the mineral glass with good results.
