One more pic of the CG.

This is the canon pinon looks like on my 183h. I have already purchased a set of taller canon pinions, but not sure if this watch needs them. The current canon pinion does not sink down as much as my other Pams. What is your professional opinion? Who is the best one to do the job?
Thanks!

Two more close shots of the Seamasters.

I bought this bargain MM 063 GMT on Ebay not so long ago for $50 incl. shipping. The watch keeps excellent time, but I can tell it may be powered by Asian 21J because of slower bph. I like the case of this watch a lot, especially I think it has more authentic looking CG (note that the CG has big screw hole) and solid case back. However, the tips of the minute and hour hands are hollow. The crystal is not AR coated.
Does anyone know where this watch comes from? Does Panerai make any models like this one?
Thanks!

Anyone have the Omega Red Book? I am having the hardest part figuring out a part number? Want to thank Offshore for getting me this far.
Please PM. Thanks in advance.
I have the book. PM sent.

With my experience with Pam rep/homage so far, I think I would go with the ones Homer makes. The other ones would cost more to mod in my opinion, especially I am no watchmaker. Good luck!

Looks like a 217 with a diff dial not too sure what model no. is though
Looks like this is a hybrid. Thanks for your input!

You've got a Fiddy case and CG, Asian 6497 movement, vintage-style hands and dial - so it's not a Panerai model, but could be used as a good starting point for a vintage base project!
Hmm, I see. Thanks for your knowledge and input! If I'm using as a vintage base project, what would be your recommendations? What kind of dial and hands should I get? I have ordered a new set of ETA H3 canon pinions, but not sure if it's better to install them on a new ETA movement I can get from Ofrei or this one (which works pretty accurately).

Nice collection there mate,
Thanks!

If I were you I'd try to hunt down the black GMT version. But be careful, there's only one good version with black datewheel and "sunken" crown. It's a great buy for $100-something.
Unfortunately there are no great reps of the standard black Seamaster.
Is this something you were referring to?

For some reason, the second hand is a little bit short.

Guys,
Any experiences with these two Rolex reps?

I see the Rolex DSSD with Asian 2813-2 21J movement, and not sure if this is a better deal than the $258 or $328 ones. The Asian Rolex sub sells for $118, but a Rolex SSD 1:1 Lite (genuine used as sample) sells for $98. Isn't the 1:1 is better than the Asian one? I am a little confused.
Thanks for your input!

Seamasters anyone? Nice collection. -
Thanks guys! Yep, they are all gen. By-Tor, thanks for your article on SOSF vs. UPO, I ended up getting them both (Although I am a noob for this forum, I've really enjoyed many of your reviews!). Due to the Chinese New Year, I will probably get my UPO in mid Feb, but the SOSF arrived today, it's everything you said to be. It will definitely get a lot of wrist time.
I currently have 5 reps: a Panerai 183h, a MM (no idea about the model), a Chopard GT XL (currently for sale), a SOSF and an UPO (will be here soon). I am sure this number will increase! The following are already on my to get list: a Rolex SD, a Rolex DSSD, a Rolex Sub (not much of a fan, but have to get one for my collection), a Omega Black SMP and a Breitling SOH. I am planning on pre-ordering the SD from wm9, DSSD and Breitling SOH from Trusty and Rolex Sub from Homer (the non-branded version I can buy on Ebay). I was told by everyone that no one makes better Omega black SMP, so I may have to wait on that one or just settle on the hundred dollar one Trusty sells (unfortunately I can't find any reviews on this watch). What do you think about my plan? Do you have better recommendations?
:)

Is this the noobmariner everyone referring to?

Thanks!

Thanks! I just ordered an UPO from Trusty, with white letters and black rubber strap! Can't wait for its arrival! I also bought a Breitling SOSF with double AR, can't wait for that one neither. I think I'm set for a while (as purchasing watches) with only minor watch moding work left to do.

$250 on Ebay, just search for "obama chronograph"
On some sites, you can buy 12 of them, then the price per watch reduces to about $160 I think.
-
This is a nice informative site
http://www.onthedash.com/docs/obama.html
And now you can buy the same chronograph for $250 on Ebay
I am not the seller, btw. If I am not so anti-chronograph, I would get one. For now, I am settling with two chronographs in my collection: Precista PRS-17C (ETA 27J quartz!) and Tissot TTouch.

Thanks for the suggestion! It was indeed a good read.
I think I am beginning liking UPO now... It's really a popular favorite. The more I read, I begin to also draw interests on Breitling Superocean and Superocean Heritage reps (I guess that more you know... may not be a good thing for the pocket book:). The weight and thickness is not an issue to me as I have watches with various sizes (from CWC W10 mechanical to Marathon JSAR). I know they all have flaws one way or the other, but which one is the better rep (case, dial, finish wise)? Besides lume and AR factors.
Thanks again!

Andrew (trustytime) generally has an excellent reputation. Although I've never bought from him, there are many long time members who consider him to be their "go to" guy. So far as the SMP is concerned, the best versions no longer seem to be available. It's probably that the UPO chased them from the market. Having said that, this one looks like a pretty good $108 watch to me. The problems with it have been descirbed in another thread on the forum. I have a gen SMP and it's probably my most frequently worn watch so I am undoutedly biased. Having admited my bias, my advice is if you like this one, go for it.
Thanks Teddy Boy! I have several gens also. The 2254.50 I use to have was a rep however. The difference I could see at the time I had it, was that the rep was slightly thicker, the pearl stuck out and no serial number engraved on the lug. Perhaps the crown was also a tiny bit shorter. I hope this watch from Andrew delivers at least the same as what I had before if not more. I have not made an order from Andrew yet. I'm hoping to wait until the other guy can post some sort of review on this watch first, as he posted a msg not so long ago about buying this watch.

Looks great! I thought the 42mm's bezel is different from the 45mm's though.
