While I agree he had his moments. Damon Hill immediately springs to mind. I think the "all the time" is a bit off. Unless you are talking Pit Strategy etc. The last few years of his career I felt were actually rather clean. I recall Montoya running into more people in those later days. Sounds about right ck5533. I only wish we had a way to use ETA, or DG28xx, or Miyota 8215, or Segull or ANYTHING other than a rough 1030 that will need a $ service. Heck even a non-Auto manual wind if would work. It would almost be worth the money when you get the case & dial, to buy a ton of cheap auto movements and see if there is any hope. I still have some Vostok 19.8's that I often wonder about. Heck, no Datewheel to worry about, this should be easy. I am not convinced we have exhausted all the possibilities yet. IMHO, this watch is all about Case, Dial and Bezel. Who cares whats inside.

In my scenario, the hand I wish to repaint is a Glit hand (reproduction from eBay). Is this gold paint, gold plated, brass, etc? Should I follow the same stripping method on that? THANKS,

Reps were definitely my gateway drug to Gens. Way back in 1986 with my now horrible to look at Quartz Sub. But I was always a "Diver Watch" guy. The funny thing Reps have saved me from buying Gens that I thought I would like, and swayed to buy Gens like my Explorer II White Face based on the comfort of my BK-Noob-ExpII Black. This forum also led to my discovery of the Ebel BTR, which I now own.
