I just can't get behind another MkII project. The Kingston took too long, and ONLY using WUS as his marketing outlet sucks. As a previous customer of his, it would have been nice to have been notified about the Pan AM project via blast email. I ~might~ have jumped. Having my Kingston is actually anti-climactic now, and I could almost care less about having it, it has only seen about 16 hours of wrist time.

watchrecon.com or eBay. Looks like $750 is the current least expensive.

I own 4 Ball Watches. You can experience all that Tritium Tube goodness 2nd hand for the price of a super rep. There is one BAD rep out there. I think at watcheden. Get a Gen.

Same can be said about auto dealerships. If you are a car buff, or shopping for a specific model and did your homework, chances are you will know more than they do. Thanks to the Internet, the customer is more informed then ever before. Technically the salesmen have access to the same info, but probably don't care...except the sales people who are passionate about what they sell. The reality about most "Jewelry" stores that sell watches is that watches are often the afterthought for the man whilst shopping for female jewelry. Watches are treated the same as a bracelet or neckless- what looks good, what's your style -vs- a technical instrument of timekeeping.

WoW! Great photos and straps. They all look great- except I am personally not a fan of the "Exotics" (Cobra, etc..) -

Admin/Mods... WTF is up with Platinum Swearing privileges?
Ronin replied to a topic in The looney bin
Dumb question: Why even bother? It is clear that it is easy to circumvent, and why the hell does the forum censor words like circumvent and circumstance? Because it has c.u.m. in it? (In case that last bit was actually censored the words were c i r c u m v e n t and c i r c u m s t a n c e). Just turn the f u c k i n g thing it off. -

I still feel minus.com is doing the best job in NOT fscking with your posted photos. -
Nothing worse than a quartz watch's battery dieing on a business trip 2000 miles from home...

First, let me speak to quality. I own GEN; Omega, Rolex, Ebel, Brietling*, Tag (quartz), Doxa*, Ball*, Frederique Constant* in the <$$$$ price range. * = ETA Based. Everyone of the GEN's from the Omega Co-Axial, Rolex 3135, Ebel house built - have needed warranty work. They ALL had problems. I also had problems with "elabore" ETA house modified movements in Breitling and Ball. The brands using lesser ETA's, no issue. SO the perception that GEN watches are superior time keeping/quality objects is false. If you want quality by a G-Shock or Seiko. Modern REPS from our TD's are generally rock solid, quality timepieces. --- To your point, and a similar issue I have and can relate to is-- REPS have trends too. Trends = popular, and more likely to see "in the wild". If REP enthusiasts buy the latest super reps, and start wearing them in public, other REP enthusiasts will probably take notice of YOU. (General public is oblivious). So this is back to getting called out / reputation perception. Deep down, does it bother you that another REP enthusiast (the only person capable of knowing about your deception) will notice you wearing a REP? I do think REP enthusiasts suffer from Medical Student Syndrome. We think we see reps everywhere, and we always think someone is around the corner who "knows". For me, trends in REPS is starting to bother me. When SINN started getting repped, and I started seeing them in the wild, I asked myself "Hmmmm, those just got popular in the REP world ~ I wonder if this guy is on the forum." Same can be said about PAM 390's today. This is even true in the Vintage Rolex REP world. We had our round of 1665, 551x, 1675.

Another Ronin..... Welcome. You CAN over-wind a manual wind like the 6497 found in most PAM's like yours. You CANNOT over-wind automatics like the 21J/ETA28xx/7750. So did you over-wind, you would know if wound it past the STOP. IF you did not over-wind it, it is possible it is dirt, or a broken pallet jewel perhaps. HTH,

"Wears" about the same, if not slightly smaller than a 44mm PAM. I have NO issue rocking it with my barely 7" wrist. The height to width is proportional, so it is balanced. Also, being black with black bezel makes it look smaller on the wrist. It wears MUCH better than an old Breitling Steelfish that was way too top heavy. Similarly, the DSSD is not balanced and too top heavy (IMHO).
-
Since people come in all sizes. Here are simple (functional) guidelines. 1.) If the lugs and/or bezel extend past the width of your wrist, the watch is too big. 2.) If the size of the watch causes the bracelet/strap to extend straight or near straight down the side of your wrist, the watch is too big. The strap/bracelet should curve off the head of the watch, down and around your wrist *(note: some new leather straps need to break in first to obtain this curve)
