  1. Hate to be a buzz kill here, but, * You mention COD (Cash on Delivery) but that is counter to your "donate" logic, nor are any prices/values listed. Why not just become a VIP member, if even for a short term. The money is going to the same place as a donation. Then you can legitimately sell your wares and cover the VIP. Win-Win.
  2. Doing the math, that is not always feasible. I have built Frankens and Genensteins for major financial savings. When getting into some of the vintage items, you can build a $35,000 watch for a quarter of the cost. It also allows you to self-finance and spread the cost out over time.
  3. Wow, that Gen dial is inspiring... Great combo.
  4. Well, this is looking permanant. All of my images, stuff used in my build posts, is all downgraded as of April 24. imgur or photobucket here I come, fsck imageshack...
  5. I like Red's idea. But are you sure it is a Unicorn? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU5nzqkzvJY
  6. My DOXA's and My Ball Watches.
  7. Forums and Subforms are sort of moot if you visit here regularly and just scan all new topics with the "View New Posts" in the upper right. Even though I may never buy an AP/Tag, etc, it is so FAST and efficient to scan thru all RWG forums. If you only visit a single forum like the Rolex forum, you could be missing out in the Knowledge base forum, etc. That said, we would do better to use: 1.) Descriptive Titles of posts. (sorry, I tend to skip over vague titled posts) 2.) USE THE TAGGING system. Throw "Vintage" in and highlight it in the title. Just a thought.
  8. Sinn has many destros and they are repped. Browse a TD.
  9. The 375 on the back gives the 'blank' a hint of credibility, but honestly, it looks like a very bad re-dial. I would pass.
  10. Saw two this week on VRF and eBay. FYI...
  11. Define normal. My watches with SuperLuminova will generally hold a strong glow when coming in from outside, walking to my elevator, and riding it up a half a dozen floors. Realistically, that total time is probably a minute to a minute and a half. It will continue to dimly glow throughout the night where your adjusted eyes can generally make it out in a dark room. My watches with regular Lume, rep or gen, will only glow strong for maybe 30 seconds tops. They will still provide some night visibility with adjusted eyes. Unless you have Tritium / Tritium Tubes, it is in fact normal for light activated lume to be pretty much unnoticeable in a non-darkend room after a charge.
  12. I found this very informative. Taken from an email I received from Corvus watch. What You Need to Know About Leather Watch Straps... Leather has been used for watch straps ever since the invention of the wristwatch. Yet, in many ways it is particularly unsuited for the task. The problem is that leather absorbs moisture, especially perspiration. There are various techniques that strap manufacturers must use to overcome this limitation. For one thing, the suede side of the leather must never be exposed. This requires double-layer construction and careful sealing of the edges unless they are folded over before sewing. Because of this, it is very difficult to properly make a thin watch strap. Cheap leather straps are always a disappointment. Manufacturing shortcuts lead to rot and unpleasant odor. Even quality leather straps cannot be expected to last more than about six months with daily, active wear. Geniune Shell Cordovan is Not Exactly Leather... Shell Cordovan is actually a equine muscle that lies below the skin. It has no suede side and is non-absorbant, unlike regular hide leather. It is also the only "leather" that is naturally waterproof. It lasts for years, and only gets better with age. These qualities are enhanced by the Horween Leather Company's slow and painstaking tanning process. There is nothing in the world like genuine Shell Cordovan, and it is only made in Chicago, USA by Horween. Furthermore, Horween only uses shells from animals that have died from natural causes.
  13. Nothing wrong with that. Next time, photo/document it, and post it here.
  14. When I ship something, I go overboard with photo and video documentation right up to the point I hand the package over to the post. It is at this point, where my responsibility ends, and I generally say so in a deal. In the past, I have had mail mis-haps (a postal rep Daytona theft) where we (buyer/seller) kinda-sorta split the difference because we are cool/friends, and like good karma. YMMV. This is why it is import to define your sales terms as a seller, and as a buyer know said terms.
  15. No need to talk you out of it. Looks like like a FUN, Casual, Sporting watch to me.
  16. +1 Unfortunately, in my neck of the woods, the women seem to love the Michael Kors "Fashion Plate" watches. Some of which are Daytona Homages. Thankfully, my wife prefers her: Gen Tutima, Gen Breitling SOH 38, Gen Vintage Doxa Ladies, REP Cartier. She has also been know to reach for my 1675, 6263.
  17. Not necessarily your watch, but the concept is the same.
  18. Ken and other sellers, I am curious if you have a vetting process for your buyers. It seems to me that sooner or later, if this sort of thing keeps happening, it is inevitable. Either that, or a a detailed "TERMS" that the buyer must agree to. (It might raise the awareness, and make them think twice). Although there seems to be a lot of bad apples these days, I hope we don't let them spoil the bunch.
  19. If it is any consolation, many independent watchsmiths are using aftermarket hands on gen Rolex's they service. It is sort of a fsck you Rolex reponse based on their restrictive parts policy. The day is approaching when aftermarket hands, crystals, and inserts will NOT be a tell. Rather, it will just be a sign of independent service on an otherwise genuine daily wearer by frugal non WIS owners. I understand the purist attitude though.
  20. Looks fine. Are you looking for a bevel on the bevel edge, like later model service crystals?
  21. Can you post a pic? I have one of the red-pack 116's from him as well, and it is correct.
  22. Welcome. Nice Harley Quinn and Mr. J. avatar. Please take a minute to update your profile. It is nice to know a "general" geographic whereabouts should you start to participate in sales threads, etc. (CONUS, USA, EU, etc) On a side note. This is not necessarily the PMWF (Poor Mans Watch Fourm http://www.pmwf.com) either. Quality Replica's are beginning to average $300, and some of us BUILD our own super frankenstein watches that sometimes total into the thousands of dollars. There is something for everyone's budget however. Enjoy,
