  1. Now that is the kind of setup I can do! I have been meaning to build up a small picture enclosure. Now I am motivated. Thanks.
  2. Historically I was with the others regarding views on anything other than stainless steel. However, I recently felt the need to try something different. Which led me to get one of these (opportunity presented itself and couldn't resist) Overall I am very impressed with the quality and look. For me, it is not something I can wear too often as it is quite dressy and my work environment doesn't really require that. As a result I am not worried about durability of the finish. Also, my wife has a gold plated Movado that she has beat on pretty hard over the last 8 years and it still looks great. So if the finish on my Hublot is even half as good I am not worried at all. For your brother it sounds like it won't get thrashed too much in his hands given your description of his job so I wouldn't let the plating issue sway your decision too heavily. Best of luck in your search.
  3. There is the possibility of hand engraving the missing segment. Not sure if an engraving kiosk might have a go at it. Alternatively I think the hand engravers are not very expensive from place like Harbor Freight. Either way a steady hand is needed. Once engraved fill in with paint. I think worth a go since you really have nothing to loose.
  4. I hate you! j/k. That is awesome! I love it.
  5. Great work ChiMan! How does the offset in the top pusher affect feel in operation? Seems like the vector of force would be at a different angle potentially causing problems.
  6. Navi family for sure. All Breitlings I dunno
  7. Excellent! A true classic beauty.
  8. Welcome Melissa. You have stumbled into one of the greatest forums there is. There is a lot of help around to cover any brand you should be interested in. It can be somewhat overwhelming at first but do continue wading in the sea of information here and you will be all set. Your brother is very lucky to have a sister willing to go to such lengths for him ( by that I mean put up with us ) Happy reading!
  9. Closest I could find to a shove
  10. Nice work. Great first project. Keep those pictures coming.
  11. Nothing but the best! On a side note I have a blue V2 inbound to add to my collection Can't have too many SOH Looks like I will start over again.
  12. Sorry for my delay. Been traveling for a while. Glad I could help fuel the fire To answer your question, yup, stock 2824-2 movement. Bought it from Ofrei some time ago for my SOH project. Went together quite smoothly and no clearance problems with the hands on the front side.
  13. Looking good there boys! My SOH feels inferior now OK maybe not...well just a little
  14. Perhaps they picked up some of ETA old tooling. Looks very good. I wonder if it is entirely 1:1 for parts.
  15. First I have heard of for the gen dial swap. Good to hear it fits the case. Now hurry up and get some pictures!!!
  16. Just looks like some sort of crud in the bezel. I am sure it will come right off. Worst case some elbow grease may be required to buff it up. If you like it I wouldn't let that stop you. Of course you could always ask the seller to confirm what it is to see if it can be corrected before shipping. As the buyer you have the rights to ask questions.
  17. I'd wear it too and I don't even need it to clean up after me
  18. Bumping this one up again to see if anyone knows. I tried some that I had from 21J as well as 28xx series and they are too small. Does anyone have the specs for these screws? I tried searching the web but it only ended up bringing me back to this post
  19. Wow that is purdy! Can't wait to see the project put together.
  20. Nice find Jkay! I think I got mine at half off but not as good a price as Meritline.
  21. Harbor Freight has a decent little Ultrasonic cleaner on the cheap. Let me see if I can find it... Ahh. Here it is Harbor Freight Cleaner Works pretty good actually for the occasional cleaning.
  22. Well I just typed in this search string in google "ipad camera resolution" and almost every single hit reports the same thing. Here are a few to save you some time. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/03/just-how-bad-is-the-ipad-2-camera/ http://www.petapixel.com/2011/03/08/camera-on-the-ipad-2-is-a-worlds-first-but-in-a-bad-way/ http://www.slashgear.com/ipad-2-main-camera-just-1-megapixel-resolution-21127644/ Like I said before it comes down to what is important feature wise to the user. For some the ipad is the best for other it is not.
